To those who are seeing me for the first time, my name is Vlad III Tepes, lord of Castlevania in Everglade. I come to you with a message for the residents of Everglade. Congratulations on surviving the rule of the buffoon tyrant. For too long the residents of this city have been misunderstood, their wishes ignored, and the laws of an ignorant, close-minded fool have been imposed on them.

I have seen first hand the issues this idiot's policies have inflicted on the populous. Refugees seeking asylum in Castlevania from the tyrant and his policies has never been higher than in the time since the ban on necromancy was put into law. Even when the people opposed this move, the tyrant fool remained steadfast in his ignorance.

So people of Everglade, I urge you, rise up against this fool, cast him down and select a more worthy leader. I have lived among you for quite some time now, and am one of you. I am no stranger to the dark arts and I am myself open about my status as one of the undead. It is time Everglade's will be returned to its people, not closed-minded bigots that refuse to understand.

I have an army without number bound to my very soul. Should things go awry, then that army will march on the true center of power within Everglade. I will take the mayor's office and bind him to my service.

When I encountered the spirit during the breach of the barrier it said something rather interesting. The barriers of each city feed off of energy found within the city itself. For Everglade, that energy is fear. By sanitizing and stripping away that which makes Everglade terrifying they invite the things from beyond the barrier to claw their way in once more. Everglade needs to be feared if they wish to keep the barrier intact.

Mm, that may be best at this stage. I intend to see what the other individual vying for leadership is like, although from what I have observed he is too indecisive to be a strong leader.

So Everglade's barrier is fuelled by fear itself... To think that such a thing could keep this city afloat.

Fear is a rather universal thing. All life feels it, and all crave it whether they admit to it or not. The humans spend their formative years being told tales of the things that go bump in the night, exaggerated beyond reality all to be cowed into following their parents' will.

Fear is something so powerful that it can move armies to slaughter the innocent because of what might be, or paralyze thousands because they do not wish to incur the wrath of some being. Even the Church operates on fear. They do not call their congregation "God loving" but rather "God fearing" for a good reason.

However, the cockroach's efforts to make things safe and sound for the good of all has only damned more and more. It is no wonder the barriers first failed under his supervision. But if this place needs fear, I can supply it in spades.
