[Open] (I'm bored and I guess I'm looking for... is it CR?)
Who: Maria Gerald
Where: Garden Park, Genessia City
When: 2/11/2014
A deep breath. Then a sigh as her breath mists in the cold air.
Maria's feeling homesick. It's easy to feel that way when you're used to your feet hurting after walking up and down city blocks for six straight hours while carrying around three separate firearms and a sword. Compared to that, Genessia is a cakewalk. She's not even wearing her uniform now... why should she? She's not a soldier here. She's not "Corporal" Maria Gerald. She's just a twenty-three year old woman sitting alone on an iron park bench in a long white coat with a fluffy hood, thin red gloves, and some knee-high brown boots and black pants.
... And glasses of course.
It's awful. She was just starting to not feel homesick in Forge. She just stopped wishing she was back in Midori. Now she's here in Genessia, and wishing she was back in Ironhart. She's just so uneasy... where was the Captain when you needed his assurance? Or Galen, with his optimism and determination... She could really use those right now.
But none of that really matters. Not here in Genessia. Here, she's just a woman on a bench drinking coffee out of a Styrofoam cup... with a lot on her mind. But at least she's got a necklace... that means she's a real person, if anyone were to pass her by.

This dashing younger version of Ironharts former general was wearing a long blue coat with a gold trim, a plain white shirt, brown pants and black boots, he carried one big freakin' sword on his back but it was wrapped up firmly in white cloth so it was hard to see any of the fine details about the blade. Along with the necklace residents or Genessia were given he had gold pendent shaped like a sword hanging around his neck. His long red headband was the the same shade of red as the scarf that Galen, Maria's teammate from Ironhart, wore.
It looked as though he was just going to pass on by until he spotted the necklace around Maria's neck, at which point he stopped and glanced over to her with a curious look in his eyes.
"Oh hey, you've got one of these things too. Hoo! That's a relief, I was starting to worry that I was the only one around here."

Looking up from her thoughts she looked at the man standing before her, and she didn't know what to think. The eyes were like Barrett's, but she thought the headband was more like Galen's scarf... and the coat wasn't something she'd ever seen before, and not the sword either. So this man was both familiar and not recognizable at the exact same time. Maybe he even noticed the confused look on her face.
"... Oh," She blinks a few times, "Yes! Oh, yes, you must have arrived here too..." She takes a moment to lift the strange necklace and show it to him. "We're in the same boat. Where are you from?"
no subject
"That's what the paper said, I took a bit of a look around but I can't say anything around here looks familiar in the slightest. So I suppose I did just arrive here." He was surprisingly calm about the situation, but after enough life and death encounters with unnatural creatures, this was kind of a welcome change of pace in his opinion.
"Huh, Where I'm from? Uh... That's a bit complicated. I wouldn't really say I'm from anywhere, I do a lot of traveling."
no subject
"... I'm Maria." She holds out her hand then, "It's nice to meet you."
no subject
"Gaia? Okay, if we're broad then that's where I'm from too. I can't say I've heard of an Ironhart before though? Is that to the south? I haven't traveled far south." He'd smile at his own antics, then took her hand and gave it a firm shake.
"Barrett Wingfoot. Pleasure to meet you, Maria.
...Is it Maria Corp?"
no subject
And then Barrett introduced himself, and she stopped. She stands and looks up at him. "Barrett... Wingfoot? No... You can't be him. Barrett Wingfoot is almost two hundred years old."
And no, it's not Maria Corp. But she's forgotten all about that.
no subject
"Uhmm... Are you sure that it's there? I've never heard of it before." He's terribly confused right now and it shows in a very furrowed brow.
"But you're from Midori, right? I was there for a couple years and left about five years ago. I'm sure you must hav-" Okay, he cuts himself off when she stands up and starts looking at him.
"Two hundred years old? I don't know where you heard that, I think I'll be lucky if I make it to thirty five honestly." He's just going to take an awkward step back now.

Maria doesn't even know what to say, but for a second she figures something. Amelia did say that the other people who came to Genessia were from... basically everywhere that could ever be imagined. Different universes, was it? Different worlds? That's obviously true, but was it possible then for someone to be from the same universe, but a different time...?
She looks awful confused. "Are you from the past...?"
no subject
"Two hundred years... Suppose that's plenty of time for a kingdom to be built, don't you think? Two hundred years old, though? I can't say I believe that." He was only human after all, even if he didn't spend his time getting into the craziest of situations, there was no way he'd make it that long. Not without a crazy magical sword or something.
"Hmmm... I guess if I'm from your past, that means that you're from my future? Is that what's going on here?" As weird as that may sound, Maria wasn't exactly the first person from the future he had met, but he didn't particularly talk about the other one he met much anymore.

She looks down towards his chest, or more like his collar, to his necklace. If she had her uniform on, she'd have a sort of emblem a lot like something he wears, right? "... What was the most significant even that's recently taken place where you come from?" She asks. This will be what makes it for her. Depending on his answer, she might know something.

"Well there was the battle against Taskaar in Midori about seven years ago?" That would one definitely make it into the books. If Maria knows her history she'd know that it also puts Barrett in a few years before any signs of Drasternius' return and eventual defeat.

(OOC: One second, Ironhart website)
"I learned a lot about history in Forge from my Captain and Galen, a fellow soldier. I've heard of Taskaar before... So this is before Drasternius..."
She nods to herself. She's got her history right.
"Well then... Hello Barrett Wingfoot - I'm Corporal Maria Gerald of the Ironhart Military, based in Forge. An army you once lead until just recently... over one hundred and fifty years into your future."
She holds her hand out then.

He'll smile a little at her introduction, apparently she wasn't Maria Corp. Maria Gerald has a better ring to it anyways, wait... Doesn't he know a Gerald? He'll think more on that later.
"It's a pleasure to meet you Maria. Ironhart, eh? It has a nice to ring to it, can't say I ever pictured myself leading an army though... You sure you aren't a little crazy there?" He's fought as a soldier before, but he certainly didn't consider himself a leader.
no subject
Should she tell him that he comes off as a lazy, irresponsible leader? Probably not. Instead she just shakes his hand.
"I'm not sure what else I should tell you. It might alter history or something... Isn't that how that sort of thing works?" Or maybe she's read too many books. Maybe it was better to not tell him anything unless he asked. After the introduction she just... sips her coffee. What is she supposed to say?
And if he knows a Gerald, she'd be surprised.
no subject
"Well it's certainly not on my to-do list, I'll tell you that much." He'll smirk at comment about altering history, it didn't sound like too much of a stretch there.
"Eh, I'm probably better off not knowing what kind of mistakes I'm going to make anyways. I'd just find a way to bigger ones if I did." He'll laugh, but it's probably true.

She can't even talk about home with Barrett. Normally she'd be able to simply stand by and listen to him carry on all day. It was practically her job, after all. But this wasn't the same Barrett. She'll just fall back on being helpful. That was also her job.
"Do you still need to find a place to live here? I'm sorry to say but you won't be leaving any time soon..."
no subject
"Oh relax, don't be so stiff. You're way too nice to look like you've got the weight of the world on your shoulders." He wasn't going to let the fact he's not exactly the Barrett Wingfoot she knows upset her.
"I mean it's not like you have to keep everything a secret, let's just avoid talking about your history, or the big things that happen in my future. I'm only human, odds are I wont remember everything over a hundred years from now, right? I promise I wont, ask any questions about it if you think it's something that could mess up history, deal?"
He'll shrug softly and nod.
"Yeah, I just kind of woke up a few hours ago, I can't say I have a place here. A hand would be nice, but if you're busy I can manage on my own.
...Probably."
no subject
Upon hearing that he's just woken up, Maria nods. "But it can wait. There are several places you can live from what I can tell. Finding work to do however... is harder. I haven't found a job myself... Being a soldier, I just don't seem to be in demand around here."
She sips her coffee again. "I guess where you live comes down to how much space you want. Some places are nicer than others."
no subject
"And I'd be happy to hear about the place, it has a neat name at the very least. I'm sure you can tell me more about yourself too, if you want." No pressure though.
"I don't need a lot of space, I don't particularly had a lot with me at the moment. The thought of her having trouble getting a job perked his interest though.
"We'll if they don't need military personal, have you thought about getting into security? I'm sure there are places around here that could use some guards?"
no subject
"From what I can tell, the other Guardians are fairly well-off. Attleton's Guardian is a very reserved man, and Nova City's new Guardian has a collection of robots at his disposal and has no need for human labour. Everglade's Guardian has a deputy, and I haven't heard anything from him, and Genessia's Guardian is... some kind of super hero."
"If I can't find a job anywhere using those skills, I can fall back on documentation. I could probably work at the library and be able to support myself since my home isn't very big. It's simply a one-bedroom unit... pretty much designed with just one tenant in mind. Perhaps I should show you those homes, since it sounds like you might be fine with them."
no subject
"Just what kind of trouble?"
He'll keep quiet as she describes the guardians, A roboticist, a superhero, a guy with a deputy and a another guy. Well sounds like they can do the job at least.
"Simple? That sounds like sounds like it'll be fine for me. If you don't mind taking me there, that'd be great."
no subject
Maria nods and leads him on his way towards the Matisse.
"I've heard that giant monsters have attacked in the past. But for as long as I have been here, it's been quiet. Nothing really dangerous... just elections ending unhappily."
no subject
"They must not be very subtle if that's the only word you can find for them." He might have to go out and find a bit more information on whoever these guys were, they sounded interesting at the very least.
"Giant monsters are simple enough, what went on with this election?" He had fought his fair share of giant monsters before, he'd help deal with one of those if they ever showed up again.
