[Action] backdated to 01/22, before the event

[Conan had woken up after the age changing event to the horrifying realization that he had spent the last few days telling everyone his real name. And also behaving like the abrasive brat he'd been back then. But he was a little too busy panicking at the idea of giving away his real name to feel too embarrassed at that.

With no idea of what to do next or even what he could say if anyone asked certain questions, he had hastily hidden himself within the mystery section of the Genessia library as he started to plot his next move.

But if anyone asked, he was just very interested in the plot of the mystery novel he was holding.]

[Dairine had noticed his sudden absence the moment she woke up, considering how loud and obnoxious his younger self had been. At first she panicked, thinking that little Shinichi had gone running off on his own in a moment of stubborn independence. But then she noticed that Conan's glasses were missing from their resting spot.

Well. That solves one mystery. Now to find the elusive detective...

It ends up being much easier than Dairine expects. By sheer luck, she starts by checking the places that young Shinichi had visited and there he is. Walking up behind him, Dairine lightly taps the top of Conan's head with a book.]

Yo.

[He stiffens at the sound of footsteps coming from behind, but instantly drops into annoyance as he recognizes her voice. ]

Yo, yourself. Did you want something?

Uh, yeah. You feeling more like yourself?

[Which is the safest way she can think of double-checking if he's "Conan" again.]

Yeah, whatever that was wore off. I'm back to normal.

Is that why you're hiding now?

I'm not hiding.

[He really was. ]

[Uh huh. Like she believes that.]

Sure. Then why didn't you bother to stick around and tell me that you're normal again?

I had other things on my mind.

Mm. Things like your older cousin.

[Dairine glances down, not wanting to risk any bigger hint in a public place. Conan would object.]

Am I right?

You don't need a detective's skills to figure that out.

[Dairine scowls at that.]

Are you insulting my skills at deduction?

[Punk, at least two people mistook her as a detective-wannabe in Paradisa. She will smack you.]

I just said this didn't take any deduction.

[Rolling her eyes, she bops him on the head with the book again. Or at least attempts it.]

Whatever. Did a lot of people meet your cousin?

[He quickly ducks away.]

More than enough.

[Less than five actually, but that was already far too many for his taste. ]

So at least one.

[She knows how he is about Shinichi.]

How much did they learn about him?

Kid was the only one who had a long conversation.

[Or at least the kid he assumed was Kid.]

The others got his name.

Hm, I suppose that's about as good as you can expect.

[After all, Kid already knew about him. And the similarity between Conan and Shinichi could be explained away.]

He didn't make any enemies while he was here, I hope?

Oi! Just how trouble prone do you think he is! He's perfectly capable of going a day without making enemies.

Uh huh. Sure.

[Dairine is grinning despite the sarcastic note. For the record, she things he is the most trouble prone, but she doubts most people would stay mad at a seven year old for long.]

So no new enemies, but a few introductions, huh? Did he bother to mention his distant cousin Conan?

[She had tried to tell Shinichi in case someone noticed the similarities, but considering how stubborn he could be there was a chance he ignored her.]

[Dairine was seriously the worst friend and Conan was offended at her refusal to believe that he was capable of avoiding trouble.]

Of course not. Why would he talk about a cousin he'd never heard of before?

[Capable, sure. But evidence was not on his side.]

[Dairine gives a huff of annoyance. After all that effort, Shinichi didn't even use her excuse. Typical.]

Uh, if someone mentioned how similar he seemed?

No one did.

Good.

[Hopefully that means no one actually noticed, but that's a small hope. That Dairine actually cares that his secret stays safe and isn't insisting on telling others really shows how much she's grown in Paradisa. As well as how much she cares about his comfort.]

So why're you distancing yourself then?

I'd still rather not be asked certain questions.

From me or other people?

[Because really, there's little she doesn't know about him at this point.]

Mostly the other people. I think you've run into that before.

Yeah.

[He's only done this every time the castle messed with his age.]

Well, that's a relief. Because if you want to hide from me? Standing in the mystery section isn't the best idea.

[Little Shinichi was only here a few days ago. The spot is fresh in her memory.]
