The dunes shimmered and rippled with each roll, the fine ash and crystal scattering everywhere. The particles were slow to settle, even with Izanami floating and not disturbing any more.
It was cold. Almost freezing, the temperature brought down by a number of things including more than a few lingering spirits. The air had a unique tone to it. Saturated by the sense of old pain and the lingering sensation of nearly faded shades drifting aimlessly, nearly invisible. This was all coupled with the smell of rich charred earth.
It used to serve as hell, after all.
The dunes shimmered faintly under Izanami, rippling here and there whenever something moved. Far in the distance were two lights. One brighter and more focused than the other. There appeared to be several other dim lights in several other directions, but they didn't have the artificial quality of the two brightest ones. It was likely that those were buildings.
