[Open/Teleportation Event] Another Day In Chireiden
WHO: Satori and YOU
WHAT: Teleportation event
WHERE: Chireiden
WHEN: First day of the event
WARNINGS: Much grump, being stared at, bothersome raccoons
A calm wind blew between the great spires of the Palace of Earth Spirits this morning. Satori's veritable legion of pets - at least the ones that slept at night - awakened from their slumber each in their own way. The birds and other winged beasts raced around the building, either alone or in small flocks. Cats, both large and small, awoke from their languid rest, stretching and wandering off to hide in the warmer places of the mansion. Even the more unusual beasts, such as lizards and snakes began to move. Her home was rife with the noise of many animals at once, and it was music to her ears. If it wasn't so loud, at first.
Satori roused herself, finding her hair to be quite a mess this morning from an inquisitive kasha kitten trying to curl up between her head and the pillow. Still in her nightclothes, the drowsy youkai wandered out to find an outfit and freshen up, making sure she was well enough ready. A warm bath served to wake her from her grumpy morning blues, if only slightly.
While getting rid of most of her stress from last night, this had only made her a little more sleepy. And the pets could not be kept waiting for long, especially not for the lazy hour she'd spent in there. It's almost breakfast time, for her as well as the pets. And Koishi, too, if she was still around...and not wandering elsewhere.
As the diurnal animals roamed freely within the sumptuous home of Fayren's Guardian, a long line had formed near the kitchen. Satori, now dressed and fully relaxed, wordlessly let the small crowd of pets know that their meals, yes, were coming after all. She felt their collective excitement and frustration. And certainly it got a bit more annoying when Scribbles, that troublesome little racoon, tried to climb up her legs and outright BEG for sustenance with eyes as wide as saucers. She almost felt like feeding him, first. "...Just a little longer, all of you. I hadn't meant to keep you waiting."
The smell of a warm breakfast was in the air. Such a day was one of millions or more in the mind-reading youkai's lifetime. Peaceful, blissful days where absolutely nothing ill might come to pass. Satori had cooked enough for an army within the space of the next couple hours, especially since she had hundreds of other mouths to feed, all with varying diets of carnivore and herbivore. But even this wasn't a chore for her, simply the day-to-day business.
Satori knew very well the other side of the coin, of course. That peace, just like in Gensokyo, wasn't to last. Pushing the thoughts from her mind, the satori youkai knew all too well that this, too, was another one of those days.

ARRIVALS!
A few teleport locations within seeing-distance of chireiden ordered by how close they are:
-The Ancient City where the oni party. A great place for food, drink, and fun. Just avoid the fights. They are oni, after all.
-The ash dunes are both quiet and dangerous housing many burrowing creatures. To simply walk through them courts disaster.
-The blueish glowing lake is a serene place where few other monsters go due to the behemoth living under the surface. Very murky for the first ten feet or so it actually goes down quite deep. It is surrounded by various glowing plants. No real danger here.
-The ruins of some sort of machine lay rusting in a pile of oxidized metal and dust. Smaller critters live here. but are largely harmless.
-Furthest away an iron floor split apart creating pillars of volcanic stone that stretch all the way up to the roof of the great underground. Medium sized creatures live here.
(OOC: Should anyone wish to journey to Chireiden I will provide a brief adventure)
The machine?
"What is the meaning of this!?" Really, can't she have some peace and quiet? She can see Chireiden from here, though... And that looks as good a destination as any, so off she floats.

All wet!
Panic was quickly replaced with wonder as he took in his surroundings. "Goodness", he said allowed, captivated by the strange marriage of a dark cavern and bio-luminescence. Dark and light played so nicely together here. Good thing he was buoyant, perhaps owing to that empty head.
"But why am I here, anyway?" The cavern seemed to have no answer as he floated along. Ted didn't believe in meaningless consequences; there simply must be some grander purpose behind it. "Perhaps in the waters beneath? Damn, but I only took one swimming lesson. I'll have to come back later once I've gotten more scales." He swam for the nearest shore, eager for answers.

Unfortunately, whatever was making it glow like that also made the water so murky one could only see about six inches down from the surface. To make matters worse the substance lost its glow quickly once it was out of the water and left an unpleasant, almost oily or slimy texture on his skin. If he happened to get any in his mouth he would discover that it tasted even worse. Fortunately it wasn't toxic. Probably.
It wasn't until he was alarmingly close to the shore that he discovered he could touch the bottom. About 15 or so feet from shore the ground abruptly gave way into a sheer cliff down into the depths of the glowing lake. Who knows what could be down there? Treasure or creature alike.
Once out of the water the cold would hit him like a truck. Chireiden had been a least somewhat pleasant but the biting cold of the great underground was almost intolerable. He might recall the sheer amount of snow between the palace and the ancient city last time he came here. There was no snow here, the moderate warmth of the lake preventing any from settling, though a short distance from the edge of the lake the ice began again, layers of glowing lichen sealed in permafrost. He would need to find a way to dry off before he froze.

"Gengar, scout ahead and see what you can find. Don't lose sight of me, I'll warm up a bit and head out." Away from the lake. He'd retreat into the bag for now, where the temperature was much more accommodating, and get into dry clothes and thicker layers.

"OH COME THE FUCK ON! SERIOUSLY!?"

Adeline didn't have long to take it in though as a rather large blue oni stumbled back, colliding with her and tumbling to the ground with a rather loud crash. Turns out the very angry dragon had appeared in the middle of a fight and the oni that tripped over her had just taken one hell of a punch to the face. It was an accident as the creature grunted something that was halfway between an apology to Adeline and frustration toward the oni that had struck it.

But she had resolve still
though not many points of it left! She could push that urge to lash out and use both oni as stress relief tools down. For now. On tenterhooks, she gets up to her feet slowly, and trudged out. She really hoped she could get back without getting her jimmies rustled one more time or she would end up having a really good time(no subject)

Ash Dunes because lol Marisa and shhh...I'm not late
When the witch blinked and looked about, She was in the quiet dunes. There was a bit of apprehension in her voice as she spoke up, 'The hell is goin' on?'

A light emanated much closer, peeking ou from the top of a small dune. A single stem poking up, the tip glowing blue.

That stalk does get a strange look and her hand inching towards a inner pocket of the skirt. But she'll stay put on the top of the dune she is on for now. If anything, higher ground mean a faster take off and more room to charge up and fire if things went south rather quickly.

KITTEN PILE (I got permission!)
Until, like many throughout Genessia, he's teleported without warning.
From where he had been standing (atop a small stepladder and dusting the top shelf in his kitchen) to inside Satori and Koishi's home. Into a rather large collection of cats, begging to be fed.
The apprentice is stunned silent for a few moments, blinking, looking around the kitchen, still holding the duster he'd been using.]
Oh--what happened?
Re: KITTEN PILE (I got permission!)
A familiar mind somehow...intruded itself into her home. Oh for gods' sakes, not another one. She quickly noticed that a few of the animals had panicked, and a couple cats were spooked, rushing off to their hiding places under furniture and generally out of sight.
That said, not all the cats seemed to be too startled by Luke's sudden appearance. Stranger things had happened in Old Hell, after all. A few displaced cats wandered away in disgust, upset that their begging had been foiled so suddenly, as cats often did. Cats, however, can be considered very forgiving when an upcoming meal serves as a perfect distraction.
Satori's reaction was just about the same level of bewilderment as Luke's as she walked in, holding a small bowl filled with some rather deliciously-smelling grilled meat meticulously cut into small shreds. Noticing the prone human boy absorbed into the catpiling, she gently nudged his foot with her own to get his attention. "...What a dear you are, Triton, to show up for breakfast." She couldn't help but tease him about the unusual situation... "I suppose..." An audible silence. "...You'd like to be fed, as well?" A faint smile. The poor, unlucky child...

Dunes?

It was cold. Almost freezing, the temperature brought down by a number of things including more than a few lingering spirits. The air had a unique tone to it. Saturated by the sense of old pain and the lingering sensation of nearly faded shades drifting aimlessly, nearly invisible. This was all coupled with the smell of rich charred earth.
It used to serve as hell, after all.
The dunes shimmered faintly under Izanami, rippling here and there whenever something moved. Far in the distance were two lights. One brighter and more focused than the other. There appeared to be several other dim lights in several other directions, but they didn't have the artificial quality of the two brightest ones. It was likely that those were buildings.

MINGLING!
A Doll is Mingling
In the mean time, it was one of Alice's dolls that was floating around checking on the people that somehow ended up in Chireiden. It may not be one of conversation, but at least the doll was good at bringing a tiny plate of drinks and snacks.
In fact, the Shanghai doll floats on over to someone to offer the refreshments.]
Dolls are for girls. Action figures are for men.
"I've found you at last, Jezebel, at the center of this foul city. I've traveled through winter's roils and the dark depths of primordial waters to find you at the heart of decadence. I see you've donned the apparel of a profession leagues more respectable than yourself.
I wonder, do your employers know? How many nights you've wasted in debauched revelries? How many midnight liaisons you've indulged? How many gallons of strong drink you've imbibed? The unquantifiable shame you've inflicted on yourself and, by extension, your family name?
Our parents are dead, you know. The doctors said by plauge, but I know the real reason: by heartbreak. They wished you well in your independence, faithful that one day you'd return into their open arms. They squandered their wealth and their health on your vanity. They held on to that hope till their dying breath.
Now? There's not a dowry big enough to repay your sins. I could leave you here, perhaps. There's some poetic justice in seeing you sink to the level of indentured servitude. But that's not low enough; six feet under is more to my liking."
Ted rummaged in his bag for a gun to place in his doll's arms. Comically over-sized for its limbs, but it would have to do.
"There's no going back. Prodigal daughters don't get happy endings. You've shred our fortunes and our honor to the floor. Now I'll paint the walls with your perverted pulp. Any last words?"
Puppet Shows are for both.

Shh...I'm not super late or anything
So the doll will get a tap on her shoulder, the witch grinning like a idiot as usual.]
Hey..where is the leadin' lady?
Yes you are. :)

But in any case, she decided she might as well seek out Satori... ]

Animals, as most people understand, have a peculiar way of sensing when something strange is going on long before anyone else had an inkling of it. Her pets had most likely caught wind of what had happened outside Satori's effective range, and over time, the buzz of more than a few new minds entering her domain was the talk of the Palace amongst the mind-reader's animal companions. All of this commotion, from more than a few pairs of fur-and-feathered feet coming to bring her the news. Someone familiar, yet not too familiar, whose image Satori had only glimpsed through the mind of one of the largest thorns in her side. This hardly made sense, upsetting not only Satori's routine, but...virtually any sense of peace she'd already had. And just what she needed, an unwanted guest.
By the time that the Great Unmoving Library had entered Chireiden's grounds proper, passing the surprisingly well arranged rose patches and an uncomfortable number of growing tomatoes and plums, Satori would already be waiting in her sitting room until her guest came into her proper range. And all the while, silently regretting having to deal with this so suddenly. All the better to either greet her or turn her away, as the case may be. But, after all, what business could such a person want in a burned out husk of Former Hell? After a moment or two, Satori's slow-burning frustration reached its apex, the satori youkai marching out of the room, through the halls and opening the front door...
"...Miss Knowledge, I'd say 'I was expecting you' if that wasn't an implausible lie. To be frank, you're the last person I expected to make the journey all the way here...however it is you found yourself here, in the first place."

Re: MINGLING!
Treasure: N/A
Walking expertise: Approaching rank-up.
It wasn't nothing. By now Ted had a good idea of whose lair he'd entered, and the means of escape. With any luck the animals, her other intrepid guests, and the demands of her labor would make his extraction all but guaranteed. He'd grown more comfortable with Satori's mind-reading, though not enough to rush right in. His mind was in a sensitive place right now; there was much to mull over, including the fact that perhaps his mind had better not be read before it's ready. He could wind up looking very half-baked.
Besides, he reasoned, his mind probably wasn't the purest. It'd be impolite to impose whatever creepy-crawlies lingered on an unsuspecting Strength. Surely she had enough to worry about already.
Witch strolling in all late like whaaaa (Shh...)
For a bit she'll stand alone, drinking with her thoughts.]
