It was a typical afternoon, honestly. He'd finished the project to which he'd been assigned at work and had promptly returned to his apartment for a shower. He loved the feel of tools in his hands, for using them for repairs, figuring out a problem and working to a solution. It wasn't the excitement he was used to, and it certainly wasn't the thrill of the hunt, but it was something.

At least until something went oddly wrong. He'd just stepped out of his shower and grabbed a towel to dry his hair, not bothering to make himself decent before doing so. He lived alone and the apartments in Nova City were all heated rather nicely. He slid his eyes closed for a moment, and in that instant two things became suddenly clear. The floor beneath his feet was suddenly not tile, and it was markedly colder. Also, the scent of soap and the lingering, humid haze of his shower were gone.

At least he was still holding his towel?

It had been a trying afternoon. After the awkwardness that was getting randomly teleported to Fayren due to…something, whatever was wrong with Genessia itself, he'd made the slow and arduous trek back to Nova City, to his home, and had spent a quiet night reading and hoping he didn't randomly wind up anywhere else. Everything seemed to be just fine as he slid into a pair of loose pants and laid himself down to sleep.

That was the problem, really. Everything seemed fine.

Balthier, much to his occasional chagrin, has fallen into quite a routine. During a typical day, he can be found either at the engine shop in Nova City, at a small café, walking to and from several locations around the city, at the local bar (he does enjoy his wine), or enjoying a quiet evening at home. Feel free to drop in on him (literally if that's your fancy)!

While Belle made herself slightly more presentable, Balthier set about making them a small breakfast in his kitchen. It wasn't much, muffins he'd acquired the day before at a small bakery, orange juice that he'd found a liking for, and water if she so preferred.

The sky pirate wasn't much of a cook.

Once she had managed to look a little more presentable she left the room and made her way to the kitchen, seeing at what there was on offer.

"Muffins and orange juice. Nice choice in breakfast." She couldn't help but smile slightly as she spoke.

He shrugged slightly at her commentary. "Well, I do live alone and hadn't planned on a house guest. I would have prepared." He motioned toward the meager spread.

"Help yourself."

"I think until the problem is fix you should expect surprising amount of house guests, maybe."

She picked up a muffin quietly, it was a nice choice never the less and she knew that it was quick and easy to eat. At least until the shops were open.

He smiled, taking a muffin for himself.

"If they're all as lovely as you, I won't be complaining."

She couldn't help but smile slightly at the comment.

"Were we always such a charmer?"

He chuckles in response, shrugging slightly.

"I've been told I have a certain way about me." That is to say he's notorious in every port...

"I can tell." She took a bite out of the muffin she was currently holding for the mean time.

"Once I've finished eating, I should get going."

Ah, shot down, it would seem. He nodded his agreement, finishing off his own muffin.

"Whenever you're ready."

It didn't take her long to finish her own before grabbing her books.

"I think I'm ready now." She smiled slightly. "I will say that I owe you for letting me stay here the night."

He shakes his head, grabbing his coat from the stand and offering it to her. The clothes he found that would fit her were thin and he could manage without it.

"Think nothing of it. I expect I would receive the same treatment, should the roles be reversed, though sadly, I fear I would fit none of your clothes."

She carefully took it with a small nod. It was obvious they were different sizes, but she couldn't help but want to say something regardless as she went to the door.

"Of course. Besides I don't think you would appreciate wearing dresses."

"While I'm sure I would do them justice, I leave them in your court." He smiles, moving to the door and holding it for her, motioning. "After you."

"I would of had some outfits that would really suit you." She said her way out the door, feet feeling the cold floor, which if she kept moving she figured it wouldn't be as cold. Movement was a good way to keep warm after all.

"Dare I be intrigued?" He chuckles as they step out. "You make it sound so tempting."

"You can care, but I will never tell now." She started to walk quietly, arms lightly holding the jacket in order to keep herself as warm as possible.

"You can just think it over though."

He raises an eyebrow. Well, then. Belle was never wanting for surprises, was she?

"How mysterious."

"It is, though people always like a good mystery, don't they?" She did enjoy reading some herself from time to time when not trying to learn something new.

As she walked, she could feel the breeze, which made her walk that little faster as she looked around.

"You know you don't need to walk me all the way."

"Ah, but the company's so pleasant." He smiles teasingly toward her. "Besides, you have something of mine."

"Ah, the jacket. You know I could just drop it back at your place when I'm home and dressed." She looked over slightly, back at him.

Still smiling, Balthier looks to her. "Are you so quick to be rid of my company, then?"

"No, I just figured you would rather much be doing something else. The company is quite pleasant after all." She smiled slightly, looking back.

He laughs, straightening his sleeves. "You know, the delightful thing about freedom is you are always where you mean to be."

"Freedom is a very nice thing to have." Coming from someone who spent some years locked away in a tiny room. She knew what it was like to appreciate ones freedom when they had it, to make the most of it.

She was sure she could see her place from where they were currently. "Well on the upside we are close now, so it won't be long."

"At times, our freedom is all we can take and keep for ourselves." While it was spoken in a light-hearted way, it was evident there was a lot of history in those words.

"Ah, well. I was just beginning to enjoy your company, too."
