genpcs_a: Much bullshit indeed (Imelda)

Let's Climb Ship Mountain!

Last week, concerns were expressed in the local newspaper that the weather might be too wet and gloomy for a charm quest. But those concerns were way off.

It was too wet and hellishly windy. Hopefully everyone dressed warm!

At the foot of the mountain, Imelda's tent looked like it was going to be blown away at any moment. The tethers that held it down creaked ominously, and the tent itself leaned hard with the howling winds that whipped at the cheap canvas and gaudy trappings. Even Imelda was starting to get a headache with her little bells and chimes clanging noisily non-stop. But a job was a job, and the fortune teller had to at least look like she'd expected this.

She hadn't, but that was beside the point.

Imelda huddled in front of her crystal ball, her wide shoulders buried in silks and furs. A portable heater was fastened under her table to keep her slipper-clad feet warm as she waited for the participants to approach. Ten men, ten women. It was almost like fate! Except one of the men was technically a robot, but he had 'Man' as part of his name, so it totally counts.

"Come come, children, hurry in! One person at a time! --No, not you ladies, stay out there." Bitch. "Come, and I will tell you the name of your soulmate who will guide you unharmed to the top of the mountain!" Or just whoever she decided to secretly ship that person with.

[OOC: Two threads below! One is for getting your partner assigned, one is for actually scaling the mountain. Each pair starts at a different point, and will be warped there after consulting with Imelda. Unless I really am psychic, no one is matched with their soulmate. Imelda sucks. But you have an opportunity to get a charm if you either A. Find your true ship which will result in a clear path and no monsters at all, or B. Fight to the top, defeat all the monsters, and kiss your partner like whoa. Some of you may get a boss fight if you say you're okay with one, but it's not guaranteed. Players can otherwise NPC the monsters and obstacles they face. Those who succeed each get an Everglade charm. Only those who signed up for the quest are allowed to participate, but anyone is welcome to show up and cheer/jeer on their favorite "couples". Those who would rather stay at home and watch the events on TV may do so, as it will be televised.]

Ugh, more mysticism and junk. Jaune is curious about Imelda's stuff - all the jingly chimes are real interesting... but he doesn't care much for her obviously phony mystic bit. Jaune already knows a fortune-teller, and she's a lot cuter than Imelda here.

Still, he's reporting for duty, as a charm is too good to pass up. He's already got a Fayren charm under his belt, so an Everglade one would make a nice pair. If he got four of them, well... who knew?

"Uh, hey, fortune teller lady?" Entering the tent, Jaune looked a little like a drowned rat. Even with his hood up, his hair was pretty drenched, "Why do we gotta do this junk today?"

[You know who's got two thumbs and is already sick and tired of waiting? This bot. Quick Man is tapping his foot impatiently while he waits for this stupid quest to get started.

Why did Doctor Wily even waste his time sending him here? They already had an Everglade charm and Wily didn't even believe in wishes. Hard work and dedication is how you get things done, not some wishy washy wish. Well it was probably better that they get this one so no one else can get a wish going, even if the doctor didn't plan on using the charms, it was still better that they have them rather than anyone else.]

How much longer is this going to take anyways? We all know I'll be at the top of the hill and back before anyone else can get there.

I'm not going to let a little bad weather slow me down.

[There's Vyse, ever the optimist. While the others are complaining, he's been pretty quiet... Though even he's anxious to get to the top of this mountain and get his charm. He can wish to go home! Aika and Fina must be worried sick about him.]

So, who do I have?

Whaaat? Ladies stay outside?! Why?! Amelia was already hating this whole idea. Why did she even have to get partnered up with some random boy anyway? She had Bit there, her tiny robot settled up on her shoulders with the task of holding her hat down so it doesn't blow away...

... She's also got a grappling hook and a bag full of goodies she's likely invented herself.

"Grr... This sucks..." She grumbles. She's cold even though she's wearing a blue bomber jacket and a turtle neck sweater... AND decent pants, and even a long red scarf that reminded her of someone.

Today can't end soon enough.

Maria wanted to promise Amelia that things would be fine, but even she had a hard time standing out in the terrible wind. She held onto her hat and tried to shield her face from the blowing snow, with no hope of standing absolute like she would if she were on guard.

With her uniform on (picture in her profile), she was fairly warm.

"When we signed up for this, I didn't think we would be paired with people of the opposite gender..." She sighs "I thought we could make our own pairs."

Jaune crosses his arms. Yeah right, Imelda... He still doesn't believe a word this lady says, but if she's in charge of the whole thing, he can't really argue.

When she describes his supposed soul mate, everything sounds just about what he'd expect. Him and Raye had been through--

"RUBY?!"

Jaune's shocked, of course, to hear Ruby's name. He'd never considered Ruby like that. WHY DOES EVERYONE THINK THAT?!

"What?! But that's--!" Jaune stops himself and clenches the bridge of his nose with his thumb and pointer finger, kind of rubbing his eyes. Ruby was only part of his problem. The other part was having to turn around, walk back out into the storm, look at Raye, and sigh.

"She gave me Ruby."
vyse_the_legend: (Whoa)

[personal profile] vyse_the_legend 2014-02-18 07:24 pm (UTC)(link)
[No, that isn't irony, Imelda. That's coincidence. Get it right, woman! Vyse just rolls his eyes at the 'see into each other's hearts' bit. This woman sounds less like a fortune teller and more like... well, someone who just really wants people to get together. So he pretty much has her figured out then.]

Maria Gerald? [He repeats the name, and rubs his chin. Who was that? Had he spoken to her before? He takes out his phone to check, and sure enough, her number's there, accompanied by a picture. Oh, so THAT'S Maria Gerald.]

[He didn't know anything about her. He was going to be pleasantly surprised... although slightly confused. After all, Vyse is 17. Maria is 23.]

Welp, time to find Maria then. Since Vyse had gotten paired up with her, he wastes little time in stepping out and picking her out of the crowd of women... which felt odd for a second. It just dawns on him that they're all pretty much standing outside, and that's just not fair.

In any case, he approaches Maria. "Maria Gerald? Looks like we're a team today. I'm Vyse," He says, smiling at her. Hey, at least they both had one thing in common, right? They're both short for their age.

[ Damnit Fortune Teller Lady, Lucy thinks this is ridic. Why do they have to stay outside? And why can't she do this search with her usual team? Well! She can handle the cold, ... somewhat. Despite the skimpy attire, so she shuffles her feet a little, rubbing her arms and looking around. ]

You place the life of everyone else on that mountain in danger. [ A somewhat hypocritical statement, coming from him. He's here on his own accord, after all. Zeref enters the tent, and takes a seat across from her and her crystal ball. Based on the experience from his own world, it's a type of Holder Magic that allows a strange form of clairvoyance. Little does he know... ]

I want your assurance that if you do this, the Death Preying will not claim their soul. [ The 'or yours' goes unsaid. If it activates, he can't stop it. ]

[Sun couldn't see this taking up too much of his time, and he was interested in seeing if the fortune teller knew her stuff or if she was just full of crap. So there he stood in her tent, tail swaying slightly behind him.]

Alright lady, spill it.

Ruby wasn't particularly paying attention to anything Imelda had to say at the moment, she was preoccupied with other tasks; like clearing out her nose of anything gross. She does perk up when Jaune shouts out her name.

"Uh, What? What happened?" Come on Jaune, it's destiny.

"W-What? Oh...!" Maria's surprised by Vyse as he approaches, and she looks at him as he explains that they've been paired together to climb the mountain and get a charm that's supposed to grant a wish when coupled with more of the same. She can't help but blush, but in that wind storm and all the blowing snow, no one would even tell. Her face is probably red enough from the cold.

This boy was supposed to be her true love? That's impossible, he's just too young!

She gathers herself so she can be as professional as possible, and nods to him. "Yes Sir!" She shouts over the blowing wind to him, "If it's you and I, then let's make for the mountain right away."

Is Ruby... picking her nose? Yeah... Yeah she's picking her nose. Jaune sighs - a big, heavy sigh as his shoulders slump. First-world problems, Jaune.

"We're climbing the mountain together. We're... soul mates, apparently," He says, stepping over to her and oh-so-politely just placing a hand on her arm and eeeeasing it down so she's no long digging around in her schnoz. "But I don't believe any of that crud, I want you to know! I have a girlfriend!"

[He's always one for adventure so when he hears about it from Lucy he naturally follows her along. The one thing he's not even thinking of is the fact that they might not be climbing together. For now though he's focused on standing his ground against the winds, stamping his feet firmly into the ground as the winds billow up his vest and baggy pants.]

I don't get it why we can't just climb straight away.

After a brief, hushed conversation off to one side with Orihime that results in him stalking into the tent, not happy but at least not walking away from the mountain. Yet.

"Forget the fortune teller bullshit, I've already got a partner." It's worth a try, right? Especially as the tent stinks of fake more than the whole of Lilydale put together. And while there had been a few psychics, 99% were indeed fakes.
