The hardest thing in this world...
WHO: Yugi Mutou and Terra Branford
WHAT: Yugi is back from the dead and is planning to actually admit how he feels.
WHEN: 2nd February
WHERE: From Hospital to his shop to Terra's shop.
WARNINGS: Awkwardness and Yugi being a dork
[Yugi found himself suddenly waking up. From being in white to see the white walls of the hospital was enough to freak him out and wonder if he was still dead. Slowly sitting up he looked around, still slightly out of it. He was at the hospital. That was enough to make him sigh with relief as it slowly dawned on him that he was back. He was alive, yet he couldn't quite remember what exactly it was he had forgotten or gave up.
Oh well. It couldn't have been important right?
But as he moved to get up and start to leave he had started to ponder something. For all he knew he might not have ever came back and the more he thought about it the more he considered what regrets he would have had. There were many, but one that stood out here was never actually admitting to something. Something many people kept telling him to do. Admitting how he felt.
But he knew it wouldn't be easy and it wasn't as he left the hospital and started to quietly make his way to his shop. Someone mentioned getting her something before saying it and that was exactly what he had planned on doing. as soon as he walked in, he looked for something perfect, but to no avail in his store, so he quickly went to one close by and spotted something from the corner of his eye.
When he had finally paid for it, he headed off toward the archway and toward her shop. The nerves clearly showing on his face with each step until he was finally at her door an hour later. Taking a slow deep breath he knocked. All that was left was to wait.]

The soft knock on the door pulls Terra's attention upwards towards Yugi. She blinks and then makes her way to let him in.]
Yugi? [She smiles.] Can I help you?
[She isn't used to him stopping by without giving her a heads up first but its a pleasant surprise.]
no subject
he understood her confusion though. As he stopped though he turned around, looking at her before quickly looking away.]
I... just wanted to talk. To say something. If that is okay?
no subject
[Terra nods her head and then leads Yugi towards her backroom. Unlike the front of her shop this room is small and filled to the brim with flowers. There is a small table at it's center where she works on arranging things and it's clear that these flowers were only brought in this morning. There were a few windows and the flowers were specifically placed to be in, near or away from the steady stream of sunlight.
When Terra steps into the room she beelines for the table, her work half completed. She carefully wraps up the flowers that she had just arranged. She places them to the side and plucks a few other stems of red, pink and white. It's obvious which holiday these orders are for.
With what she was working on finished she looks back up at Yugi curiously. Watery blue eyes shining and reflecting the light that glittered through the window. In this small room Terra looks as if she's within her own element and the flowers almost brighten to meet her. Logically that isn't the case but it certainly looks that way. Thin fingers lightly brush against her skirt as she sets her things aside and offers Yugi the chair on the other side of the table.]
Have a seat. Can I get you tea or water?
no subject
As he looked over, he could help but watch her at work, even if for a moment. he could tell that she was putting a lot of care into each and every bunch and he hoped those who are giving them to loved ones know this.
As he slowly walked on over to the table as the last one was done and sat down, his fingers soon starting to lightly twiddle around, his nerves somewhat showing again.]
Uh... tea would be nice, thank you.
[It makes having to say it be pushed back a little longer.]
no subject
Once that is done she grabs two mismatched cups and heads back to the table. She pours them both a glass of steaming liquid and takes a seat.]
I hope this one is okay. It's new.
[As in, she hasn't tasted it yet but it's what she has in this room. Her thin fingers curl around her cup, a light smile pulling at her lips as she blows of the wisps of steam away.]
What can I help you with?
no subject
Once she had finished and returned his hands wrapped around the cup, feeling the warmth of the cup and his reflection in the liquid. He still wasn't sure that he could do it, but he knew it was now more than anything.
Taking a small breath he closed his eyes for a brief moment. When he had some idea of what to say he started to open his eyes and looked up to her so that he could see her reaction and the inevitable rejection. He just hoped that this wouldn't change anything.]
Well... There has been something I wanted to say and... I hope that by telling you... nothing changes.
no subject
His comment only rises her confusion and worry. Her brows furrow slightly and she places her teacup down giving Yugi more of her attention.]
Nothing will change Yugi.
[She attempts to comfort him however her voice is still laced with confusion.]
What is it?
no subject
Well... if you say it won't. I guess I'll just come out with it.
[He glanced up from his cup for a moment.]
It's just... over the past few months, I've been developing feelings for you. By that I mean... as in more than just a friend kind of way.
no subject
Her fingers tightly grip her up as silence settles between them. There is a long moment before Terra finally says anything. Her voice is light, keeping it's usual kind cadance.]
You don't have to worry about anything changing Yugi.
[Terra softly reassures him of that knowing that it had been a concern.]
However...I don't think I can feel anything like that.
[The one person she's spoken to about this had said that Terra is wrong. That not being human doesn't mean that she can't feel love, however Terra constantly doubts herself. She doesn't know what love feels like, never having experienced it before, and so she convinced herself she can't.]
There is a lot I haven't told you about myself Yugi. [Her fingers slowly release her tea cup only to tighten their grip again. Her tone sounds sad, as if she's given Yugi a burden of knowing more about her.] I'm not... human. Not completely.
no subject
Looking up he looked slightly puzzled.]
Not completely human? What do you mean?
no subject
My father was a begin called an Esper. It's a creature of great power and magic. [She shakes her head.] I've never met one before, they were all killed but I don't think they have emotions like people do.
[She really is sorry Yugi. It isn't that she doesn't like you but she can't like you. At the very least she promises things won't change, he's very important to her and he'll remain as such.]
no subject
[He paused for a moment though, something did seem odd about how she said that, but it was going to bother him if he didn't say.]
But you said that only your father was. What about your mother?
no subject
My mother was human. I don't really understand... [She doesn't know if her parents were in love or not. She assumes her father couldn't feel it but somehow that doesn't feel right.
Terra shakes her head again.]
I'm sorry. I shouldn't burden you with this. I'm sorry that I can't return your feelings Yugi. You really are important to me...
[He's her best friend but Terra believes she's destined to be alone.]
no subject
[Though as to how he hadn't a clue. He shook his head slightly however.]
You don't need to apologize, I expected it really. Yet people kept insisting that I say something.
no subject
When I think I can... I'll let you know.
[She doesn't have high hopes.]
People told you too?
no subject
[He nodded as he took a small sip of his tea.]
Yeah...I wanted to know what to do and I originally...was never going to say.
no subject
[SHe pauses keeping her fingers wrapped around her tea cup.]
Do you feel better now that you've said something?
[Her voice is soft and curious.]
no subject
I feel much better.
no subject
Are you sure?
[The long pause gives her doubt.]
no subject
I'm positive. It will be fine.
no subject
I'm glad.
no subject
Oh...I did buy you something but...I'm not sure if it's a good idea to give it to you any more. Seems to inappropriate.
no subject
What is it?
no subject
It's just this.
no subject
Terra hasn't ever gotten a present like this before and if she were to recount properly Yugi's the only one who's ever given her a gift.]
It's beautiful.
[Her voice is soft and in awe, she doesn't know if it's right for her to keep it but she doesn't want to pull her gaze away from it. The flower that dangles on the chain is familiar and once she pinpoints it in her memory she feels tears rise to the corner of her eyes.]
Oh, Yugi...
[He's always been thoughtful and no she feels the pain in her chest more acutely, as if she could feel her heart breaking for him. She doesn't understand anything and yet it hurts.]
no subject
That would make him feel better, which he just couldn't quite put his finger on why.]
I'm glad you like it.
no subject
I didn't get you anything.
[She pauses trying to think but the only things that Terra has to her names are plants and flowers.]
I'll treasure it.
[Terra notices that he's getting up to leave and so she stands getting ready to walk him to the door.]
no subject
[He smiled slightly, knowing that there wasn't much he could do and he was sure she didn't need help with anything, she had her room mate after all. Plus, he was sure that it would be way too awkward now to stick around.]
So... I best get back unless there is any help you need?
no subject
I'm fine but thank you.
[She carefully slips the bracelet on clipping it into place with a smile. It'll become very important to her over time, standing for an emotion that she doesn't believe that she can feel.]
I can walk you out.
no subject
[He really did figure that she had help in the form of her room mate, so he figured insisted would be more than a little awkward considering. But he smiled slightly as he started to head toward the exit.]
Ah, thank you. But you don't need to, you probably have work to do.
no subject
[She feels a little shot down so she nods and watches as he leaves.]
