So, that hologram girl at the entrance that gives that introductory speech said something about people being safer here than in their own worlds. That got me to thinking. How many of you guys are fighters? And what's the craziest thing you've had to fight?

Heck, I'll even go first. One of my first jobs was in this tower that was created to connect the human and demon world. There were two guys responsible. One I knew - but he's a story for another time - and the other was this whackjob priest calling himself Arkham. He got his hands on the key to the seal keeping the worlds separate, a sword containing the power of an incredibly strong demon. I was expecting him to turn into some heavily armored knight-type demon but when he unleashed his 'true' power, he turned into this giant blob of neon blue slime. It was kinda hilarious.

Yeah. The fact that humans need to wear clothes to survive cold weather, and the culture of sexual repression that's been established, sex is seen as sort of a taboo, so anyone showing nudity gets an almost instinctual reaction.

...But that's the cliffnotes version. I've put entirely too much thought into the subject.

I see. In Sornieth, we dragons wear clothes and armor, but that's mainly for looks. We don't think poorly of those who choose not to wear anything. You can probably tell that I'm just wearing a set of jewelry that my mate gifted to me.

For surviving cold weather, the Icewarden created Tundra dragons with fur coats. But the Ice dragons of any breed are naturally attuned to the ice element, so cold doesn't bother them at all.

Yeah, humans aren't that lucky. They either have to wear heavy clothes, or huddle together to share body heat. The latter is where demons come in. There are these massive ice toad demons that have a pair of antennae, and at the end of each are what appear to be attractive naked women.

The toad hides itself in a blizzard of its creation, waiting for travelers or adventurers to get lost, cold, and desperate, and then dangles the Rusalka in front of them. They appear to the travelers as beacons of warmth, comfort, and pleasure and most will just walk blindly into their arms... which is when they're frozen solid, and eaten by the toad.

Well, that's...unfortunate.

I've faced all sorts of beasts, but they usually fight us head on. They're strong enough to kill dragons, especially if they have the elemental advantage.

The more powerful the demon is, the smarter they generally are, and the craftier they get. Stuff like that is exactly because of people like me. Nobody is going to raise an eyebrow if someone gets lost in a blizzard, but a big monster charging down main street? That stuff gets reported to me real quick.

So you deal with these...demons?
