A Mage from the Shadow's Depths (Action/Video)

[ACTION]

[Emerging from a pod in the Bay, a disgruntled young teenager. She sleepily rubbed her face with her hands, knocking her goggles off center. She adjusted her goggles and swung herself over to get out of bed, only to dunk her feet into the waters of the Bay. That was enough of a shock to wake her up.]

"What the hell? What is this?"

[She looked around from the water, to her bed which turned out to be a pod, then all around her surroundings to see even more pods. She started to freak out as her breathing increased, but she was quick to get it under control.]

"Calm down, Rita... Just think. Where were you last?"

[She crossed her arms over her chest, quietly thinking and trying to remember the series of events leading up to where she is now.]

"We were near Helliord when...we went to Caer Bocram, the city destroyed by an earthquake. Then, we spotted the Hunting Blades there, and..."

[And it just doesn't add up, and her frustration at this impossible reality clearly shows on her face.]

"No, no this can't be right! How can... Agh, I don't have time for this! I need to find the others."

[Rita searched herself to make sure all of her supplies were on her. Her Bohdi Blastia? Check. Her examination tools? Check. Her scroll and tome? No check. Rita looked back to the pod she came out of and found them on top of a odd box. She gathered them all up and made her way to the nearest exit she can find. She stopped at the entrance and slowly turned to look at the interior of the Bay once more, then turned to leave the Bay to be met with the chilly winter air. But she wasn't going to complain. Aspio can get pretty chilly on a regularly basis.

Finding a nice cozy spot near by, she took a seat on the ground and examined the contents of the box she found. The one that caught her eye was a strange device unlike she's ever seen before. She was very quick to taking her examination tools from her breast pocket, she started fiddling with the device in ways she probably should not be doing. The tampering in the same of discovery triggered it to come on to a live, public broadcast, showing Rita muttering to herself.]

[VIDEO]

[Those who tune in to the broadcast would be met with a huge eyeball peering into the camera.]

"Just my luck to discover a new kind of blastia here, where ever 'here' is. And it looks like it might operate on a very compact core also. If I can just figure out where the core is, I can find out where sort of blastia formula it uses..."

[Rita puts down an item that turns out to be a magnifying glass, she has a look of regret on her face now.]

"...But I really shouldn't, not here... I can examine this thoroughly when I know where I am, and hopefully find Estelle and the others."

[Levy smiles into the small device.]

Hello. We wake up here there isn't really a reason that we know of yet and for the moment we are stuck.

This is a device that we're given to communicate with.

[She doesn't know who gives them the device.]

[The camera saw that the device was being placed back in the box when Rita saw a response video. This made her stop for a moment.]

"So this is a telecommunication device? Can you tell me the name of this town? Or a general idea of where I am?"

That's right.

[Levy smiles gently.]

This is Genessia. This won't be near your home. I'm afraid its another world completely.

"You... You can't be serious.

How is that even possible? Not even a blastia, despite all it can do with the right formula, can enable travel between worlds!"

I'm not sure. It's something specific to Genessia though. It takes people from other worlds and brings them here.

[Her voice remains calm as she attempts to explain.]

"I wonder... Could this whole cave be hiding some kind of blastia?

I may need to stay here and examine it thoroughly."

I won't stop you but I've never seen a blastia here.

[At least she doesn't think so.]

[Rita lifts her chin and aims the camera at her choker accessory.]

"This is a blastia. Specifically, a Bodhi Blastia. It lets me use artes and magic for fighting."

[A rather tame response compared to earlier. Seems Rita believes in her situation.]

I see. I can use magic too but I don't use anything like that.

[She smiles.]

My magic comes from me.

"How convenient. If everyone in Terca Lumireis could use artes without a blastia, the demand wouldn't be nearly as great.

So with that, I suspect this 'Bay Area' could be hiding a Warp Blastia. And before you ask, yes, there's a blastia for just about everything you can think of."

Okay. Do you mind letting me know what you find? I've been trying to find a way for us to go home.

[She's found nothing yet.]

"Sure thing. I'm Rita, by the way. Rita Mordio."

[she smiles brightly.]

[It really is just a phone.]

What's a blastia?

[Airy says the word a little bit awkwardly as if she isn't sure if she's using it correctly.]

[You gone done it now.]

"How can you NOT know what a blastia is? You literally can't take a step out of your door without seeing or feeling some sort of benefit from a blastia!"

... That doesn't really answer the question.

[She's trying to be polite.]

[An audible grunt]

"Blastia are technological devices developed by a lost civilization. Blastia utilize the primeval power of aer to provide the people with the basics of fire, water, light, and most importantly, protection against monsters. These objects achieve their functions by converting aer into energy by way of a formula inscribed on their cores. They are marked by crests that indicate their attributes.

There are several types of blastia, such as Aque which can produce clean drinking water, Ceres for ship propulsion, and Barrier for protecting cities from monsters."

[That only really makes her have more questions but there is one part of that explanation that worries her the most.]

What do you mean monsters? There aren't monsters in Genessia.

[Though she hadn't thought there were vampires in New York either.]

"Genessia? What are you talking about? Is that the name of this boom city?"

[She hasn't read the brochures or found the hologram literally only a few feet from her, so Rita is still certain she's at a new boom city like Helliord was.]

[Boom?]

Yeah, that's the name of this city...

[She's trying to be polite but Airy is far to confused to actually help.]

It's a lot like New York but with less shady areas.

[She's had a very limited experiance of New York City.]

"New York...?"

[Now nothing was adding up. Helliord was one thing, the Empire can manage that. Two, like Genessia is putting a strain on the limited blastia resources. Three, if New York was another, is simply well beyond the Empire's capabilities, if it didn't cross the line with Genessia already.

If Genessia and New York were actual places, how could Karol of all people not ever mention them? Estelle, being the bookworm that she was, ought to have known about them also.]

"There is no place called New York..."

[On Rita's end, she would look up to the sky and see it completely empty, except for some scattered clouds.]

"The... the barrier! Why is there no barrier? What more about this city can you tell me? About Genessia?"

[Airy feels a little put on the spot but she's been taught that she needs to be polite so she'll try her best; as awkward as it might be.]

Ah... Genessia is a different place. It's cut off from other places from what I can tell. I don't know anything about a barrier.

[There is a weird crack in the sky though Airy has no comment on that.]

There is a pamphlet... you should have woken up with and a weird white haired holographic girl. [Who Airy still things destroyed her hair turning it that color.]

"I didnt see any holographic girl. Now, be quiet a moment while I try to figure all this out."

[There were sounds of rustling, of papers and other items. It seems Rita might be quiet for awhile.]

[Airy is silent for along moment before speaking again.]

I can hang up and you can call me back if you want...

"Uh-huh, sure. That's fine."

[A very high chance Rita won't call back, though, because genius readons. She means no disrespect, she's just bad around people.]

[Airy nods, not that Rita can see it.]

Goodbye then. It was nice talking to.

[Vyers wasn't particularly paying attention to the communicator at the moment, instead focusing on a book he'd picked up at the library. Even so, he often kept his device close by, just incase.

That voice, though, made him jump out of his skin. No way, that sounded so much like--

No. It wasn't Etna. As he scrabbled to pick up the communicator, what this girl was saying quickly sunk in, and her appearance only drove the point home.

He felt a small pang in his chest. Perhaps he was getting a little more homesick than he wanted to admit. Nevertheless, he'd already opened up a video feed without thinking - he had best make the best of it. Thankfully, he was able to find his rhythm quickly.]

A-aha, welcome to Genessia, Mademoiselle. You must have just woken up here, correct? How lucky for you to be greeted by one as beautiful as, Moi.

[Something about this guy just does nothing remind Rita of that old man.

She completely ignores him as she goes back reading the brochures.]

[Wow. She just ignored him entirely??]

Hey!

[Rita put the brochures down, simply giving Vyers "The Look" through the device.]

"Yeah, what do you want?"

You cannot simply ignore moi! That is rude!

[His poor vanity cannot take this rejection!]

"I was reading. I can ignore you until I'm finished."

[Plus you remind her of someone.]

"Which I am. So, again, what do you want?"

[You also remind him of someone...but still, this made for a rather awkward conversation. Once she raised the point though, it became more painfully apparent that he wasn't sure what to say to her.]

Well, I...thought it only polite to welcome you to Genessia. Did you have any questions?
