[ Emerald's first choice wouldn't have been Everglade. It was dreary and, while the fog and general yay-murder attitude provided quite the cover, she much preferred the sun. But there was one thing she could do without drawing attention to herself and it was already in the city- get help from an old friend. Said old friend didn't.. exactly need to know the details of why she was laying low, but she was certain she'd played her cards well enough that Rikku would give her the benefit of doubt.
Most people did until it was too late.
It was shortly before sunset when Emerald knocked on the door, keeping her eyes around her instead of at the door, so the first thing Rikku would likely see was her backside. Practically a show of trust. ]
B. action; openish
[ Once she's got what she needs from Rikku, the next stop was checking her previous spots in Genessia: Demyx's old apartment, the hotel. Which meant both Genessia and Nova City. It was definitely risky moving around that much in the open, but it was the evening- she had the cover of darkness, she was fairly certain unless someone was looking for her, she'd be okay. And she knew she could get away from any specific individual if she got cornered. No one had found out yet, even if they knew whose side her piece rested on.
Emerald walked down the street cautiously, stretching her arms above her head. At least it wasn't freezing this time around. She was glad to have missed the winter, even if she was in much more dire straights with her only real ally here being Torchwick. She had no doubt the truth would crush any of the other relationships she built with how prominent the brats were here. ]

Now who's deluded? You don't know a thing about Adam, Emerald. Whatever Cinder might have on him now to keep him cooperative won't last. He wants to see your kind burn. I didn't leave a life I was born into on a whim. A long time I even lived in denial that anything had changed. That Adam could change. [Blake swallows and clenches her fists.]
But I wasn't going to help them him rain violence down on innocent people anymore, human or faunus. And if I'm a traitor for that, so be it. He can punish me as long as he leaves my friends and other people that did nothing to him out of it.

[And that's all the other girl is going to get on that. But Emerald's hesitation at the end doesn't go unnoticed either. She looks at her uncertainly.]
Just because you felt what?
no subject
[ She rolls her eyes at Blake's admission. ] A word of advice: Not being around them is going to get you killed if the right people show up and Adam doesn't to protect you for his own plans.
[ A shake of the head and Emerald's looking around. It's probably time to go. ] It doesn't matter.
1
She clenches her fists. She's not White Fang anymore and never will be, but they are still Faunus no matter how Adam has brainwashed them. And the thought of that evil woman manipulating her people makes her furious.
Not that Adam was a saint before Cinder showed up, but it never made sense where he fit in with them.]
So she's just going to murder everyone that doesn't go along with her? [Blake is seething.]
2
I know that. [Said flatly. She can care less about herself. She's training with Dante for a reason, but she knows if Adam shows up and comes after her now, she'll most likely die. But she can't let anyone else get caught in the crossfire again.]
If it doesn't matter, then why not say it?
no subject
[ Except it would've been very much not good for them. ]
Just because it doesn't matter doesn't make it your business.

He's a lot of things. But selling out his people to some human because she has a little bit of power instead of obtaining it on his own terms is not his way. I wonder just what form of 'persuasion' Cinder used on him.
If it didn't matter you wouldn't care if I knew it. [Blake recognizes evasion too well for that, Emerald. She knows when someone's running away.]
no subject
[ Emerald glances down Blake's form quickly. She's not sure if she wants to go for Blake's wallet or not. Pissing off cats didn't bode well for laying low. ]
What makes you think I'd tell you if it did matter to me?
no subject
I don't think you will. But you wouldn't have let it slip in the first place unless it was really bothering you.
no subject
Right. Why does it matter to you is what I should be asking.
no subject
We'll see. [Said quietly. That much she knows is true. She can't avoid him forever.]
Because if it bothered you enough that you'd bring it up to me, then I think, at least about whatever you were going to say, it would be the truth.
no subject
[ She's that confident, apparently. ]
You wouldn't be able to tell if it was or wasn't. You think I can't purposely let something slip and backtrack on it? I thought we were better friends than that, Blake. [ Aww, it's that sweet caring smile she put on for team RWBY. It may just be a cover up this time, but she's going to make her point. ]
no subject
I don't personally care what you'd bet on. I'm sure you didn't bet on your boss going out the way she did. [No one really knew what happened to Cinder, she might be frozen up on that tower with that huge Grimm. But Blake would be totally fine if Ruby's powers had actually blasted her to dust. It would still be too kind a fate after Penny and Pyrrha.]
You don't know the meaning of the word.[She's angry enough to claw Emerald's face off, but there are so many reasons why it would be a bad idea. She's facing an enemy that could make not only her but anyone nearby see anything. Anyone would say it was foolish.
It still didn't make her feel any less worthless.]
no subject
[ Emerald slowly turns her back to Blake, walking away at a lazy saunter. ]
Sounds like someone shouldn't be lecturing anyone about the meaning of friendship.

Could I have fixed things if I stayed? It's too late for me to find out. But I'm not sorry I left. I'm not going to apologize for not allowing Adam turn me into a murderer, the way Cinder has done with you. Because if you think you didn't kill Penny with what you did, think again! [It was a harsh thing to say, but she meant it. She was not about to forgive it any time soon.]
no subject
[ Emerald clenched her fists a little, then finally turned back in her saunter, her eyes narrowed. She pointed at Blake. There was one thing she wanted to make very clear- because she could say whatever she wanted about Emerald. Emerald wasn't the type of person who had a high enough self-worth to argue against much other than refusing to be called a worthless street rat. But blaming Cinder for her own actions? ]
Cinder didn't turn me into a murderer. She offered me a life. I took it, everything I did from there was better than the one I had before. You said you grew up with the White Fang, so maybe you don't understand what it is to truly have no one and nothing. At most you spent a month without someone watching over you during the application process for Beacon, right? So I know you couldn't possibly understand what it's like to have becoming a murderer still be the better option. I didn't get picked up for picking a fight with a crime lord after my family spent time training me and be miraculously handed everything I've ever asked for, I didn't get someone to watch my back as I was growing up even if they didn't turn out to be who I'd hoped, I sure as hell didn't have everything handed to me on a silver platter and still not think it's enough because my father cares about what I do with my life, and I definitely didn't just decide to learn how to fight because it sounded like a fun adventure. You're forcing yourself to be "alone" and you still aren't because you have people who worry for you. Becoming a murderer isn't what she did to me, it's the price I decided to pay to change my life so that someone would be there. Cinder and Mercury are the only ones who have ever been there for me and they're the only ones who ever will! I may not have directly killed the robot this time, but if they wanted me to I'd take it apart with my bare hands. Call me a murderer all you want, but she hasn't done that to me. People like you did.
[ Emerald doesn't leave much room for conversation at that point. She's pissed off, and said way more than she intended to. She's done here. She uses her semblance to make herself invisible to Blake's eyes. Some of that might've been her working herself up. The anger made it easier to face what she'd become, to justify it, to reinforce that she can't blame Cinder for her actions. To reinforce that the only ones who could accept her as she was anymore were Cinder and Mercury. She was definitely done talking to Blake. ]
