Operation 4 | [Log]
Who: Gale Reinhardt, Krillin
What: Hunted bounty
Where: Nova City
When: February 28, Evening
Warnings: N/A, will update if needed
[Gale's not above admitting he's an incredibly shallow man who takes jobs for equally shallow reasons. Money is a shallow enough reason, but learning that there's an assassin killing solely women? He had to put a quick stop to that. Especially because the blonde and blue-eyed look absolutely rocked on some people, but he must digress. Oh. Sure. There might be a bit of "justice" dashed into that reasoning somewhere. Given that it was Gale involved, god only knows what his mindset was.
Speaking of mindsets, he didn't understand the mindset of this assassin. Only going after women with blue eyes and blonde hair? There had to be a reason for that, and Gale could only come up with two conclusions: either this was just a run-of-the-mill serial killer with a "type" or they were after someone specific. He didn't know who, so he couldn't even fathom a guess or try to get their aid in the matter, so he had to work on what little he had.
He hated doing it, but he knew he'd probably need someone to lure out this assassin- which, short of him putting on a wig and sunglasses, meant him needing to employ the services of a woman who fit the blue-eyed blonde description. He hated the idea of dragging someone who wasn't involved into the situation, but it was either that, or let this killer continue to run amuck and leaving Gale without a clue on where they'd be. If that happened, then Gale wouldn't very good at his job, now would he?
If this assassin was anything like the last one, Gale would think the first ideal starting point would be around Aster Technologies. Once he knew she was protected enough - between lending her a weapon to defend herself in case Gale was a bit slow to arrive on the scene, as well as a transmitter to make sure his mask didn't lose sight of her, even through walls - he would drop her off on Aster's doorstep and duck around a corner nearby.
Thank god his lucemite levels weren't an issue. He'd need the quickest reaction times he could muster for this.]

[While surveying the area from high above, he noticed the woman fitting the description.. and then spotted someone nearby with no power level that he could sense. Great another cyborg going after people that looked like 18...]
[After a moment of making sure nobody else was near the woman, he zipped down to in front of Gale, glaring from within the white flame that engulfed him.]
I really hope this isn't what it looks like because if it is, we're not going to get along.
no subject
Okay, I don't know if you noticed, but I'm kind of in the middle of a job here.
[He pauses then. That's when he put two and two together. Wait, was this guy accusing him of being...?
Gale frowned, glancing over his shoulder and establishing a comm link with the woman through his mask.]
Hey, we've hit a snag already, get into the Aster building and stay there.
[When he watches her HUD icon move into the building, he looks back at Krillin and sighs in frustration. He should have seen this one coming.]
I should be offended that you're accusing me of being that assassin guy. I'm trying to stop that guy, thank you very much.
no subject
Oh really? Even if you can prove it, you should pack it in and leave if you don't want to get hurt. This is sort of a personal thing.
no subject
Oh yeah? Tough luck, pipsqueak. I'm already on the job and formulated a plan with that girl, so I'm not leavin' until the job's done. And your threatening isn't gonna make me budge.
[He scoffed.]
Besides, if the culprit is who I suspect it is, it may be a personal thing for me too, so you don't have an upper hand on me as it is, regardless of your height. Or lack thereof. What's this job to you anyway?
no subject
The last few weeks there's been a woman that has been going after the cyborg criminals around here that fits the description of the girls that are being targeted. I've got no doubt they're trying to find and kill her. ...That would be my wife.
Besides, I've tangled with cyborgs before, and the ones in this place aren't nearly as threatening as the ones in my world.
no subject
I've fought these Red Claw assholes too, so you're not the only one with cyborg battle experience, buddy. I know what I'm doing. Especially, given that I'm a cyborg too, incase you couldn't tell by the synthetic flesh and the wires.
[He's not even hiding how annoyed he was right now. Usually, he's calm and cocky as all hell, but right now, he's just flat out irritated. And being irritated and getting a headache on the job was the last thing he needed.]
Look, it seems like we're both on the same page on one thing: We suspect that renegade cyborgs are behind this. I'm here to make sure all cyborgs aren't left with a bad name because of them. If you want in on this job to protect your wife, I won't stop you, but how about you stop wasting my time questioning and trying to deter me, and we just do this together? We've got lives at stake here, and I'm not about to let another woman die because of those bastards.
[Really, if it's this guy's wife that's being targetted, Gale can't help but feel like it's a stupid idea that he'd show up to the job. Throwing himself out to protect his wife is admirable, but it's also stupid because it'd just draw attention to the both of them further. And normally he'd say that out loud, but he's had enough with bickering and just wants to get moving. Gale had every intention of becoming a thorn in the Red Claw's side like Android 18 had become.]
no subject
So using some innocent civilian as bait is the right answer?
[He rolls his eyes. Not that he really had much of a better idea... until...]
I should be the bait. If they're going after 18, then they should know she's married. They'd jump at a chance to get to her through me I have a feeling.
no subject
[And he means that. That was one perk to having magic, he would be able to protect her, even at a distance. Though at Krillin's suggestion, he pauses before frowning and shaking his head.]
Don't you think that would be a bad idea for both of you? Because that would paint targets on both of your backs. If they're out to kill her now as it is, so even if we take this one out, they'll definitely want to try again and even target both of you.
no subject
I'm used to having a target on my back. I'm no stranger to danger, and have fought for the sake of my world across the galaxy. As for these renegade cyborgs, they're nothing like some of the people I've fought in my world. There's no way I'd be in any danger. Honestly, 18 could probably take them out without breaking a sweat, but she's done enough and I don't want her to worry about this.
So I'm here. This is my fight just as much as it is hers.
no subject
But he sighs. The more they talk, the more time they're wasting. And the more time they're wasting, the more likely it would be that another woman could get targeted.]
Fine. If you're that confident, then that's the plan to go with. Go in the building and talk with that woman. Either update her on the plan and keep her involved, or tell her to go home. I don't know how you'll lure out the assassin without a girl matching the target description so they can even learn who you are, but I'll just leave that to you. Either way, we're putting a stop to this guy. The murders end tonight.
no subject
She's safe. So. Where have these guys been most active? I'll go there and start calling them out.
no subject
Gale turned his head to look at Krillin when he returned, pushing his back away from the wall.]
The southern sector's been getting a lot of activity, but they still make sure the bodies are found around the heart of the city. Probably making them serve as threats and warnings to everyone.
[Particularly to this guy's wife from the sounds of it.]
There's also a night club in one of the shadier areas of the city, they were usin' it as a recruitment center for the Red Claw. Wouldn't surprise me if a bunch of 'em hang out there too. Clubs like that are good for intel for all sorts of people.
[He's willing to bet that if they made a return to that place, they really wouldn't be happy to see Gale again. Not his fault the place got wrecked the first time because of a crazy blonde android girl. He smirks a bit.]
Code name's Orlok, by the way.
no subject
Name's Krillin. Sounds like the club is our best bet then. We rough up enough of their guys, their bosses should come in to stop us.
[He flashes Gale a wry grin.]
...That is if you can keep up.
no subject
[They won't lay a hand on the wires in his neck either. He's just that confident.]
Unlike you, if there's one upgrade I wasn't given, it was the ability to fly. So I'll need my bike to get there.
[That lovely bike that just happened to be parked nearby, so he's already making a dash for it.]
You better be as good as you're implying. I don't like to be slowed down on a mission.
no subject
You know this place better than I do, so I'll follow you. On foot. Bet I won't even break a sweat.
no subject
Well, aren't you a show off? Don't use all of your energy bragging now, remember to save some energy for beating the hell out of some cyborgs.
[He then points at Krillin in a half-serious manner.]
And remember that doesn't include me.
[Not that he expects Krillin to get so into an upcoming battle that he'd mistake Gale as another target. No other cyborg would be dressed in all purple with a butterfly mask. The wires are optional.
Without wasting anymore time, his bike peels away from the curb and is immediately driving down the road at high speeds. He hasn't hit top speed yet, but he's pretty damn close. And here this asshole doesn't even wear a helmet. How dangerous.]
