[ _{The soft hiss of static before the sound of laboured breathing, as if he has been running… like a bolt from the bay. There is the immediate sound of a gun loading. In all serious he is running around like a headless chicken in a bizarre panic- you see, he is rather ill person, and being in a strange place seems to have absolutely thrown him out of a loop. You can get this from the audio alone; it’s just loud footstep noises over and over.} ]

I don’t know whose bright idea of a joke this was but let me tell you something; you can remove me from the war, but I will bring it to you. You cannot stop me killing just by changing the setting. Think of this as an elaborate play… the scene shifts; and at its heart…

… Will be the corpses of anyone and everyone you have ever loved.

Entertain me. Tell me where you reside and I will show you the best performance of your life… by ending it.

[ _{He seems very determined to murder anyone for taking him away from his 'work'. Probably not the best idea to actually, well, engage him physically.} ]

Easy there friend, now's neither the time nor place for that. We're all the same here- same as you- we got plucked from our worlds and stuck here, without any idea who or why did it. Killing people won't get you any closer to your answers, trust me when I say that. I don't even know if the people responsible can hear you right now.

[He's at work right now, so he's used his brain (a computer) to fabricate a false image for the video.]

[ _{A picture of a rather scary looking porcelain mask appears as he stops running to stare into the camera for a few moments with startling blue eyes- his homeland wasn't high on technology... so it takes a few for him to not be so close to the screen.} ]

Who or what are you supposed to be? [ _{Comes the uppity voice, all drawl and coldness.} ] You can't expect me to believe such a fairy tale, that one can simply be whisked away to another world without a care in the world?

[ _{He stops running and stares for a few.} ]

We're not friends. If I find you, I will relocate your limbs and turn your skull into a prize piece on my wall for your exotic features.

[ _{... He's referring to the ears.} ]

[While the man behind the mask is awfully close to the screen, Allen's brow furrows.] You uh- you're kinda clo- yeah, yeah there you go.

You call it a fairytale, and yet look, you're here. [He chuckles.] I'm just an ordinary denizen of Genessia, looking to make sure it STAYS ordinary and doesn't turn into a trail of corpses.

Though, I'm glad to hear I'm at least worthy enough of the trophy room. Make sure you show off my good side.

At any rate, I meant what I said. People don't die here like they do in other places. It's not really worth your time, and even if you were going to do it anyway, there's a lot of angry people who'd crack down on you for it. I really suggest you don't.

[ _{Oh my god, at the word that people don't die here as they do usually actually makes him produce a sound that is similar to a 'gasp'... if it were more dignified. He regards the shape shifter with a slight gleam in his eyes now...} ]

I'm of the mind to let you find out yourself. It'd spoil the surprise if I just told you. It's not as exciting as you think it is.

Answer me this; could it be that in this place, if dying is not the same... it would be the opposite? That there could be no true death, that bodies would spring to life like trodden-down flowers...? Because, if so, friend...

Oh, you figured it out! Yes, it's exactly as you say. Anyone you kill will eventually revive, where and how is unknown to me, but it most definitely happens. Even the natural denizens, not from other worlds, return eventually. At least, I think that's the case?
[He scratches his head.]

And now now, no need to do that. That'd take the fun out of it! After all, you'll find I'm much more challenging prey than your average civilian.

But it is no fun when the target wants to die... its like shooting an injured animal. The key is in the surprise. And if I am destined to return back home eventually... then what is the harm in a little fun?

[A distorted, doubled voice comes from the device, letting out a low chuckle.]

Carrying on your battle in this realm is pointless. You had best start making new plans now instead of wasting your precious time making empty threats.

Ill-tempered? My my, this is my normal self! [ _{He mirrors said chuckle with his own, except perhaps a bit more shallow- there was definitely anger in him... it would be hard to pretend otherwise now.} ]

But its my way of fun... I, by no mean, want to disappoint everyone by, as you say, keeping my threats empty. I very much so will stay true to my word. All I do is kill... I'm an artist, after all.

Is that so? Tell me, what is an artist to do when their work is rendered meaningless when the laws of a new world negates all of their hard work? The dead do not remain as such. Even the thrill of a hunt would lose its charm quickly in this place.

And surely, you would have a Guardian hounding you in an instant for your endeavors. It would be a shame to not be able to continue your preferred pastime in a prison cell, wouldn't it?

[Really, he doesn't care about the guy's 'hobby' one way or the other. Maybe it's a roundabout way to warn of the Guardians. Who knows.]

That is a good question, in all honesty. It just means a new angle. I mean, if people cannot die then wouldn't that mean that suffering could be prolonged... eternally? That you could let the pain linger on and on without the grand finale of death? It just mean's there is room to experiment, in all honesty.

[ _{Experiment... torture... t'was the same thing mostly in his eyes; there was no doubt about it, as long as there was still flesh to toy with... he would, indeed, toy.} ]

I've already been to prison for many years; tell me, is a 'Guardian' the name of a police officer here?

[He quietly chuckles. He could almost see this man getting along with one of his personal generals, given Oculus' fascination with torture.]

At least you would be open minded enough to change your tactics. Still, you would do well be mindful of your actions, lest you have a bounty placed on your head immediately.

The Guardians are the ones who protect each of the cities. They are higher than any form of law enforcement, and can personally control them. A killer's actions would be sure to catch the Guardians' attention in an instant.

... but that's to say nothing of the vigilantes that this place is littered with as well.

Hey... Hey! I don't know where you're from but there are nice people here. I mean they aren't the ones who brought you here and you shouldn't be mad at them.

[ _{That IS awkward, so much so that he ends up actually laughing in a airy way that is actually surprisingly natural given that his mask makes him sound sort of mechanized.} ]

How young do you have to be to be called 'little bird?'

[She has no idea who says that and in her confusion her awkwardness seems to melt away. It only really happens when Airy thinks to much and it's far easier to be confident when you're sitting at home and talking on the phone to some random stranger who's talking about killing people.

Also you can't just go around killing people or threatening... I think there is a law against that.

You have to be young of mind, young of voice, and young of body; you sound like someone whose throat I burst open once... like someone who is perhaps a little too innocent for her own good.

[ _{It is a drawl as he talks, as if he is mulling over his words, but every time he speaks he sounds like he is reciting poetry of some kind; its beautiful... if you look away from what's being said. The sound of low, drawn out laughter.} ]

The law, the law... how about you tell me where you are, and lets see if the law 'stops' me, hm? It'll be like... a little game.

[ _{Jesus Christ, don't tell him where you are.}]

[Airy's beginning to realize that talking to this guy might have been a bad idea. She pauses for a moment trying to sort out what he's saying through the flowery language.]

[She can't help but ask because he sounds so pretty but is saying... really horrible things. She can't understand it.]

[ _{A few moments of silence before he answers. Surprisingly, he doesn't seem to be bothered about explaining himself; this might be because, in his mind, he is absolutely positive that he is somehow doing something that should almost be 'legal'. Justifying it as 'following your heart' ... didn't detract from the fact its stull murder.} ]

Why does a author write, and why does a dancer dance? You can ask why a painter paints, but they will all say the same thing; it is their life... there is nothing for those tortured souls outside of their work. We cannot feel alive unless we are doing what we love. It is both a gift and a curse.

I am no different than a man with a paintbrush; the gun is the brush... and my paint is the person.

I can make anyone beautiful.

[Airy is silent for a moment and then scared. There is nothing scarier than a someone who thinks they are completely justified in what they do.]

I think you're a thief.

[Her voice is softer, almost shaking.]

You steal what people value most.

[ _{Her words are perhaps a little surprising; they were new. Never before had he been compared to another criminal. Usually it was to a demon, a monster, or something akin to those but no... this girl had the gall to call him a thief. It felt a little petty, a little gentle, but he understood immediately- he reads her like a book, as psychopaths often read people.} ]

A thief... I'm stealing away lives, am I? I want to ask you something; I inquire, who gives you or anyone the right to live? Who gives you the right to be well and continue on living when someone across the world is dying slowly and painfully? What gives anyone the right to be breathing, and who can honestly say that they in themselves, over anyone else, are entitled to live as they wish? How could is be that in some parts of the world women are bled for speaking and children are suffocated for their disabilities, that man is hung for an opinion but on the other side, you have the right to do anything? It is because the laws of man permit this legal murder.

When you think of the world, you think of the laws man made for mankind firstly. However outside of that, we are all the same, no matter what colour, what physical appearance we have, what blood type, what gender- we are all sheep in the same paddock. That is the law of 'being'. Outside of mankind's laws, we all exist just because we do. No person has a right to be more alive than another.

[ _{He is honest to God speaking about working on a level akin to a God- operating as someone who doesn't need to abide to the laws of the world in his own mind. Half of what hes saying seems so, to put it bluntly, abstract that you can wonder if he's ok mostly because he's speaking fast and almost mumbling to himself breathlessly as he speaks.} ]

Because no-one has the right to life more than another, I can't be called a thief. You don't own your own life, no-one does; you were just born one day and that is that. You don't have a right to be alive. I'm not stealing from my victims or my victims families or friends because no-one belongs to anyone.

[ _{His voice shakes just a little now, but from being well and truly psychotic seeming suddenly.} ]

I can take and do as I please... and I cannot be stopped until anyone above me strikes me down to join my artwork. I am no thief. I do not engage in 'legal murder'. I do not abide by the evil laws of mankind.

I am just an artist.

[Airy listens considering everything he says though her brow creases slightly with each addition to his long winded speech. He sounds like a super villain who's stuck monologuing.]

Everything, everyone exists because it's need... because it's loved. You don't just rob a person but you rob their friends, their family and everyone who would miss them. What gives you the right to hurt people?

[She signs knowing she can't convince him.]

Why do we have grocery stories? Why do we have TV or Holidays? Why do we build towns, cities and stats? Why... why why. The answer for all of these is very different but there is one answer that's the same. It's because its needed, for one reason or another.

You can't simply put your opinions needs above others. [She exhales softly, not realizing the irony in her own future at these words.] You are needed too but you're doing it wrong... I don't think life is as simple as you make it.

Do you think every person is needed or loved in that case then? Strictly speaking-- by your own words, aha-- I could technically seek out the loneliest person alive and execute them and still stay morally sound.

[ _{He was probably was the loneliest person in the world, seeing as he had no friends or no family or, well, no-one. Thinking not of this, but retorting, his voice becomes almost soft to a certain degree-- but it could only be a lie. He wasn't the kind of person to get endeared.} ]

And now you're telling me I'm needed? By who? The people who want to kill me for revenge? There are hundreds of them. I guess its a never ending circle, my dear. Why why why indeed. What gives them the right to kill me for taking their family members--

[ _{Suddenly, curiously, bizarrely he says out of nowhere--} ]

I think you're the sort of person who thinks anyone is redeemable in some way or another. Am I correct?

[Airy doesn't really have an answer to his question, he might not see it himself but someone somewhere needs him. She truly believes that.]

Ah...

[She isn't expecting that question.]

[She's yet to meet anyone truly evil.]

[ _{This prompts loud laughter from the other end of the line, ringing about breathlessly and maliciously as the call crackles with static at the sheer volume--!! The next thing he says with no kind of forewarning once again, almost as if hes been halfly talking in his head about (or to) her and surprisingly enough, its an innocent question. It wasn't asking for her location, at least.} ]

Well then, darling!! I'll be keeping my eye on you... tell me your name; I wish to know your name should our paths really cross.

My name is Jhin. I seek to prove you wrong.

[She has to pull the phone away from her ear hearing the loud laughter on the other end; not the reaction she is expecting.]

[She only realizes afterwards that telling this guy her name might have been a very bad idea.]

[That sounds like a lot of effort.]

[ _{Her name rolls off his tongue like everything else did, nobley and beautifully.} ]

Because sometimes there is no changing someone ... because there is nothing for someone but a single, strange concept that they hold dear until they too disappear. I need to do something here, after all- if I cannot kill what am I to do?

[ _{He has absolutely no life outside killing.} ]

I have talked to many others, but none but you have talked to me like I myself am redeemable too. I am not touched, nor am I soft hearted- I am merely curious.

I think it sounds like a beautiful start... to a tragic story.

[She's slowly becoming more determined but she supposed only time will tell. Someone once told her that every story ends as a comedy or tragedy and she's now reminded of that.]

[Airy doesn't like where he's going with this if she is being completely honest with herself.]

It can't just be killing... what about eating? or I don't know... bathing.

Silly girl, those are just necessary things that you must do to live. But everyone has one thing they are living for right? The ever elusive meaning to life... mine is most definitely killing; or more importantly, the art process that leads to it. Perhaps it would humour you that, outside of the necessities, I do nothing but. Such is the life I chose to live.

[ _{He didn't do anything but. He literally just sort of tended to himself, killed, tended to himself, killed, and continued on doing as such for days and days... and years and years... no wonder he was messed up. Most normal people at least could sort of write 'watching tv' down as a pass time. He barely knew how a TV even worked, laughably.} ]

What do you live for? [ _{Compared to the start, he sounded a lot more... sane.} ]

[Airy doesn't have an answer to his question. Before waking up in Genessia she'd been running away from her family and a part of herself that she would never be able to escape. The only thing she does have is a stubborn sense of sensibilities pasted to her from her mother.]

I really like food. [She pauses.] Like breakfast or talking with people about the weather.

...or poprocks and music. Oh! I love music.

[It's not really an answer to his question.]

So basically, your life is menial, dull, and you live for no real purpose? Now, that is how you waste your existence.

[ _{He says it so casually there is no way to be sure if he is being callous or not, to be honest.} ]

I adore music, too... the kind people make with sear marks and wire and soft, soft snapping in the darkest nights in the darkest places. It makes the opera sound dull.

No! [She's pouting on the other side of the phone.] It just means I see enjoyment in all things. Even small things are important.

[He doesn't sound... bad. She still finds it hard to believe that he's a bad person.]

What's driving you to kill? If you think it will get you home, I can tell you that it won't. [There's no judgment in Annie's voice. Just factual and informative. And maybe a bit curious.]

I kill because I'm an artist... its my hobby and my god-given right to show everyone what true beauty is. It's in the shape of a woman carved open, a man blown apart into fourt-y chunks... in the shape of a baby painted in shades of pearly white and pink flesh against a wall.

I am a warrior of art... and that is all.

[ _{There is almost glee in his voice...!}]

There's nothing 'darling' about me. [Annie's tone is hard as a diamond. She's not sure what to think of this newest monster. It's not like she has room to talk with the atrocities she's committed. Might is right where she comes from.

Still, there was a point to the senseless slaughter.]

Try to make art out me, then. [The challenge is issued with no fear whatsoever. And anyway, you can't die here even if you are a normal human. And maybe it's a fight that will give her a challenge.]

Oh? What tough words, what a brave soul; bravo. You have the tone of someone who is sure they could throw their life away with little consequence; those are the sorts of words that soldiers use. I have met and have been imprisoned with many. But alas, that sort of courage spoils the show. The art isn't just in the body at the end of it, no. Anyone can 'murder'.

The performance of dying should be nothing short of terrifying... It should be desperation, fear and loss. If one doesn't fear death... Then I might as well be another man running around and killing for sport.

[ _{His targets were only ever the totally innocent, the vulnerable and the kind. It was never for the fight or the death itself: the important part was the dying. That was where the art came from; and naturally, his usual targets of poor country-men made art-creation easy. He gives a long drawn out sigh and his tone becomes laughably bored;} ]

I am aware that most cannot die here however... and I have to work out whether that hinders or enhances the performance. It's all for art.

You just want an easy target. If you really cared about your 'art' a challenge wouldn't bother you. Pitiful.
