[When the screen flicks on Kahlan looks at it with a serious expression, this only lasts for a moment before her expression breaks and a light smile begins to tug at her lips.]

Good Morning. [It seems to be an appropriate greeting.] My friend and I are planning to build a house here in Fayren since our stay is to be prolonged into the distant future. We were able to find a good location and some tools however it would be faster with both help and additional knowledge for those who were here before us.

If anyone is able to assist or is interested in this task please let me know. You will, of course, be compensated for your help. We need extra hands as well as locations to purchase supplies. Fayren is small and while the town has everything we need I don’t believe they have building materials. [They could split the wood themselves however that would take a very long time.]

Richard is also a fantastic teacher if anyone wants to lend a hand and learn along the way.

[Her smile widens.]

Action: Everywhere

[With her message sent Kahlan sets out to look for materials and supplies. Both she and Richard have a job which makes this endeavor easier than it would have been when they first arrived. In her hand is a list where she’s written approximate estimations for the housing materials after speaking with Richard about dimensions and layout. The list is broken up by materials and tools and then broken into when each item would be needed during the construction.

While they might be able to build a roof in a month, raising a house from the ground will most likely take longer. She’s hoping that they’ll be able to enlist help and shorten the time it takes. The location they found is more than perfect and with their plans underway Kahlan finds herself growing more excited.

She stops at the markets in Fayren first, noting down what materials she can find and which she can’t. When this is done she’ll speak to store owners ask about her needs and how easily it might be for them to comply. Having everything be from Fayren would be easiest however Kahlan suspects that it won’t be that easy. With that done she heads to the other cities looking for anything on her list however these visits are shorter and yield little results. She skips over Nova City however Attleton has a few places that might be able to provide extra wood should they need it. Transporting it however would be far to cumbersome.]

Ted thought Richard was kind of a pill, but if he's a fantastic teacher, well...

"Certainly. I'd love to lend a hand and learn a thing or two along the way."

"Do you have much experiance with construction?"

Kahlan watched his expression with interest as he spoke noting his phrasing and change of voice.

"A little. I assisted with minor repairs once."

[hidden_truths]

"I'm afraid that this is a little more complicated than that but we would be happy to have your assistance."

Since they will be building a place from the ground up, it meant supports and other more complicated things had to be set in place first.

"Heh, isn't it always? But if every bit helps, this bit is at your service. I'll be there provided it doesn't cheat prior engagements." He explained his schedule in a private message should she accept; various nights with his trainers, etc.

"That's fine, this is a project that is going to take weeks and once night falls we'll have to stop without a source of light."

[He sounds amused when he responds.]

You're building a house?

[There is no mistaking your voice Balthier.]

That is the plan, yes.

[She wants to know what he finds so funny about it.]

Aren't there plenty for the purchase? It seems less time-consuming.

Yes, but it's more expensive.

[The location also isn't as ideal.]

Besides, I think it would be nice. [She smiles.] Richard is rather skilled at these things.

Richard's a builder, then. [That's interesting.] Well, I'll leave the construction of homes to the professionals, I suppose. I'm more mechanically inclined.

[Kahlan smiles.]

Not just a builder but he knows a fair bit about construction.

[Richard can do many things, he’s the seeker first and foremost but then there is so much more to him.] Our worlds are very different and most people are good at many different things.

[She teases lightly knowing that Balthier can take it.]

[He smiles, leaning back and crossing his arms.]

I happen to be skilled at a great many things, myself, though I wager, even in your world, those of noble birth would leave the construction of buildings to others.

[And Balthier suggested something about his lineage.]

[Kahlan's eyebrow rose while a smile dances at her lips.]

Oh? What would your great talents been then?

My greatest talent? [There's a thoughtful pause here.] Engineering.

Oh?

[Her expression widens.]

So things like automobiles?

[Because while she's wandering, Richard is surveying the site.]

Any luck?

[She can't help but smile upon seeing him.]

None yet, though I've found some tools that you'll need.

[Kahlan knows the basics however she doesn't have the level of skill that Richard has.]

Is there anything you might have though I missed? [She means on the list she wrote up that morning.]

[He shakes his head.]

I don't have any tools, yet. I have decided the best place to lay a foundation, though.

[Kahlan sounds excited.]

Where is that?

[He beams at the feed.]

Near the center of the clearing where we have a picnic.

[She isn’t likely to forget that day and at the memory she smiles fondly.]

That would be a perfect spot. We’d have water and it isn’t too far from town. [Least it be dangerous with everything happening in Fayren.]

Do you have a plan in mind?

[She doesn’t know how many rooms or what the landscape might allow.]

Only roughly. We might be best served hiring a carpenter, at least for a consultation. I don't know the ground water or anything in this area.

[He looks around, crossing his arms.]

But we'll be doing a lot of digging.

There is a carpenter in town. Should I see if he's able to come by today? If he has time we can be there shortly.
