[ A rather cleanly dressed woman (no crown of course- she's not the queen here, she's smart enough to hide her jewels before they attract the wrong sort of attention. no sense in alerting people as to what happens when they steal from her before she has anything truly worth stealing) seems to be holding the device at a slight angle. It's clear she's never used one of these devices before but is regarding it with both wonder and a sense of familiarity. It reminded her of one of the Queen of Heart's favored methods of communication, though a far less clear picture. Mirrors tended to be much easier to have discussions through than this little thing. She seems to have a very posh accent. ]

The power to travel to other worlds in such scale with so little effort.. Quite the magic trick, darlings.

[ She's impressed. But even they couldn't leave Wonderland without the Rabbit or the Hatter once the looking glass routes had been sealed off. To end up in a new place such as this.. well, it was rather impressive. ]

There are a good many worlds to travel but never have I heard of one so mismatched as this. This world is full of magics I've never heard of, strange words and customs. [ And she thought Wonderland was odd. ] Will one of you be a dear at fill me in on what the metal carriages roaming the streets so quickly are? I prefer a more personal touch than what a company can provide for introductions and I would very much enjoy not having to walk across town without need.

[ The Bay is still in the backdrop for her, but she still seems confident despite being, you know, horribly lost in both tech period and place. ]

[ The clothing she's wearing seems a bit outdated so that says something and explains a lot before she even speaks, and the manner in which she does seems strangely regal. It's only as she asks about the 'metal carriages' that nearly makes Yato snicker a bit but he manages to keep a straight face as he turns on his end of the feed.

Hope she doesn't mind his extremely casual, laid-back kind of attitude and appearance of his. ]

Those things would be called cars, milady~

[ Yato flashes her an encouraging grin. ]

They really are convenient for quick travel but they aren't exactly the easiest to manage and come with a pretty big price on top of that.

[ Well at least the nomenclature is easy to follow. All they did was drop the 'riage' part of carriages. Voila, cars.

The level of how much she doesn't mind it is probably incredibly unexpected, but it doesn't show whether she does or doesn't. She's far too good at this whole 'regal' thing than most people realize. ]

You can't just hire a driver for them?

[ That response earns a bit of a raised eyebrow before shaking his head and exhaling a bit of a sigh. ]

Well, you can but that can be pretty pricey as well and not everyone is going to want to be some kind of chaffeur on a constant basis.

[ Maybe because it's just him saying this but he seems pretty laid back about all of this as he's used to walking everywhere on his own - or teleport if he chose but hey. Godly benefits and all. ]

Walking's not all so bad but there probably is some alternative if that doesn't sit right with ya.

I am entirely capable of using my feet, darling.

[ But if you can pay someone to drive you around, why would you bother walking long distances? Especially when you know both far ends of the monetary spectrum. ]

Curiosity is a powerful force.

That's good to know. I'd be worried if you weren't, then we'd have an actual problem there.

[ It's spoken in more of a flippant, casual comment than anything sarcastic, if the smile on his face is anything to go by. Part of him's actually wondering if she does come from either a rich family or just plain royalty, but not about to ask such a thing yet. ]

It really is. Curiosity can either make for really good or equally awful situations depending on how you utilize it.

You'd be surprised what a person can get along without.

Don't tell me you're going to tell me curiosity killed the cat, darling. I happen to know the cat and he always comes back.

[ Whoah. She's sure got some sass to her and in turn that does make her a touch more interesting than he'd initially expected. Plus those words with knowing a 'cat' that always came back brought questions to mind. ]

Not at all! Just sayin' how curiosity can be good OR bad depending on the person. [ A shrug and he tilts his head to the side as he watches her for a moment or two. ] Though it sounds t' me like you have quite the tenacious kitty on your hands there.

[ Cheshire can be quite the little (or giant, if he's been eating the right mushrooms) monster. ]

But enough about felines, tell me about yourself. Other worlds may be a new board but knowing the players can be far more telling of what the nature of the game is.

[ Oh boy what a loaded question. He could say a NUMBER of extraordinary things to make himself more grand, but hey. She seemed like the practical type of woman and as such he'd keep it simple. ]

Name's Yato. Where I come from, I'm actually a god. [ Cue the wide grin that he absolutely can't help but flash her just then. ] I know. Bet you're thinking Oh how can that strange but incredibly awesome guy just claim something so ridiculous like being a god? [ Yeah. Okay so he's still ridiculous. Don't mind him. ] It's all true though, I assure you. I've been around fooooor a good couple of centuries now and been to places most people could only dream of.

[Kahlan recognizes the clothing and even the manner of speech from the new arrival. She doesn't pretend to think that they are from the same world however they both had a similar reaction to automobiles and she'd like to at least extend an offer to help the woman.]

Hello. Those are automobiles which used engines that are similar to pistons but are propelled by fuel. [That's how she understands it anyway.]

If it's strange I suggest coming to Fayren. [Personally, Kahlan finds the city very noisy and while she visits, she hardly stays there long.]

Are they cars or automobiles? [ She got the 'car' response from the other guy. More than that, why would this person assume that she would understand pistons and fuel propulsion if it's obvious she's no idea what most of this is? ]

Fayren.

[ She turns some of the papers over until she finds the map. She's prissy, not an idiot, of course she grabbed all of the materials available. ]

Through the South gate. What will I be finding in Fayren that's so appealing to those who find strange worlds stranger than most?

[Kahlan's lips twitch into a small smile.] My understanding is that they are two names for the same thing.

[The Confessor turns slightly before answering the queen.]

It's just a guess on my part and if I am incorrect please tell me so. There is magic in Fayren as well as things that, to the very least, are more familiar to me. Every other archway has machines such as cars. Not knowing them I thought you might be comfortable in Fayren.

It's simply a guess.

[She doesn't want to be rude and assume, which is why she explains her reasoning clearly and in a logical tone.]

[ Good to know. So check out Fayren if she doesn't want to adapt, check out anywhere else if she wants to know more. It may be good to learn more about all of the areas rather than assume any one is where she wants to go.

Especially since Kahlan is wrong. There is magic in Genessia as well. Anastasia already tested that out. She had heard much from Rabbit, enough to know that the first thing she needed to do was make certain she had access to her magics. Sure, things seemed a little less predictable here, but she was a master of unpredictability. One had to be in her position. ]

Well then, darling, I'll have to take a look.

[ A smile was on her lips, but it didn't seem sweet. ]

[Kahlan simply nods her head however the woman's smile makes her pause and her eyes narrow. She doesn't however press considering she knows that self exploration is probably the most helpful in this situation. Which is why Kahlan has made a point to learn some about all the cities though her understands of certain things are limited.]

[She won't prolong the conversation she will however answer questions to the best of her abilities.]

Is magic real? Because some people are like, nah, it's just science and got all these mathy explanations. But I'm like, I can fly? Explain the b.s. science behind that one.

[ he's got a hand raised near his face and everything to ask that. a long-long debate. magic: real or just made up of bullshit science? all input needed to figure that one out. not that he actually cares about that ]

In those it is, it is, in those it isn't it isn't. Magic will work in any world that magic is real, but I hear there are those that don't have it.

[ The Rabbit travels a lot, alright? The Hatter used to, too. ]

And anyone can do that?

See, my world was being super vague about the realness of it but everyone kept doing magic while still being, like, "Magic is fake, y'all." Probably some loophole magic realness shenanigans.

It sounds as though they use magic without understanding what it is.

[ She may not be a master of magic, but she certainly understands enough to know it's far separated from other sciences. ]

They really should've provided an exchange rate or, like, a linked bank account to the other worlds. Cross-universal banking. I was rich as hell. I should've invested in gold because that still holds value but you see those "we buy gold" signs and you just don't think the spinning sign guy out front of the shady looking pawn shop is as legit as he is. That's a career I should've been paying more attention to. I should have aspired to be spinning gold sign guy. He was the true genius all along.

So many missed opportunities.

Traversing realms is hardly a foreign concept, though where I come from it's much harder to transport even one soul, let alone hundreds.

[Belle paused for a moment. Considering the amount of times it's happened, it was still a hard type of magic to do now that she thought about it and such a price to pay without the use of beans.]

I agree. Many people seem to travel from one place to another. I myself wish I could explore and do such a thing, but very rarely are able to. Though to get many people across it would probably be too big a price.

I suppose if magic is involved, that would explain a lot. [It's not out of the realm of possibility with what he's faced.] At least it doesn't feel malevolent.

The cars are quite peculiar, non? Very different from coach and the like, although I am not certain they are better or worse. Some of them are not the slightest bit charming and lack elegance, they ought to work on that. Appearances are important, after all.

Someone needs to teach these car makers the value of beautiful things.

Did you lose half your armor?

[ That doesn't look like it's actually.. protecting everything, Jaune... where is your chain mail.. Then again her soldiers don't even get armor like that, but if you're going for the look go for the complete ensemble, gosh. ]
