Gajeel had read everything he was given upon awakening, and even picked up one of the helpful fliers from a magazine stand. Whatever this Dresden said, though, he didn't really feel safe. After all, the last thing he remembered was staring down certain death at Acnologia's claws, and the last time he'd been tossed to an unfamiliar place it hadn't exactly been a fun time.

And so he found himself exploring the town incognito, or at least as incognito as a guy his size can be while wearing a hooded tan cloak.

Eventually, though, his wandering found him standing in front of the guild building. Yep, there was no mistaking that logo. He had it branded on his arm after all. For a long moment he simply stared. Then he shook his head in bemusement. "Heh. Guess I shoulda known. If you guys died that easy you'd never have beaten Phantom Lord," he mused to himself, before throwing the door wide and stepping inside.

Yep, that sure did look like the guild hall he remembered. More or less.

Flat | Top-Level Comments Only

For random people Gajeel meets while getting used to the city. Don't hang out in Fayren? That's okay, he'll be all over the place.

Is that a new person in a hooded cloak? Ruby wears a hooded cloak too! Gageel might notice he's being tailed by a girl in a cloak, mainly because she's loudly humming the mission impossible theme as she stalks him. The moment he turns around to look at what's causing that noise, she'll dive into the nearest alleyway to hide. She's about as subtle as a train.

After a few repeats of the cycle, Gajeel decided to stop playing around. The next time she slipped back out of the alley, the man in the cloak was nowhere to be seen. Then there was the sound of cloth rustling in the wind above her; somehow Gajeel was dropping off of the roof of a nearby building and into the alley she'd just come from.

Conveniently this cut her off from retreating back down said alley.

"Alright you," he said in a calm voice, as if he hadn't just jumped twenty feet onto concrete. "Who are you and what do you want?"

Ruby poked her head out from the alley only to see that Gageel was nowhere in sight. She stepped out and looked about frantically.

"Where the heck did he-" She was cut off by his sudden drop down into her escape route.

"-OH MY GOSH!" She jumped nearly a foot into the air in surprise and looked to him awkwardly when he started asking questions.

"I-I'm Ruby, I was just fooling around, I swear! Youhadanicecloakandnotmanypeoplearoundherehavethose!"

Gajeel stared at Ruby. Stared hard. Whatever he saw must have been to his (grudging) liking, though, because he pointedly looked to one side (keeping her within sight) and folded his arms over his chest. "Tch. That's a pretty weird reason to go followin' people, brat."

He tugged at his own cloak, expression thoughtful. Hm. If it wasn't really helping him blend in maybe he should just pack it away. Or stick to the roofs and back alleys where nobody could see him anyway.

"Hey! I am not a brat, You don't even know me!" Two can play at that game, mister. She'll fold her arms right back and huff.

"Jeez, I was just messing around you, don't have to be a jerk about it..."

Gajeel smiled at her. My, that was an awful lot of sharp teeth, wasn't it? "Not exactly helpin' your case here, brat."

Is Ruby backing up a little because of all those sharp teeth? Yes she is? Jeez.

"N-no, I guess I'm not, but you aren't helping it either!" Okay, she'll take a deep breath and try to calm down. Maybe she was being a little immature here.

"...Okay, can we start this whole thing over?"

After what doubtless seemed like a very long moment, Gajeel shrugged. "Sure, sure," he said breezily, his smile fading to more of a faint grin as he glanced at Ruby out of the corner of one eye.

"So, you seem a bit more familiar with this place than I am. What's your take on it?"

She seemed a little intimidated by him. Perfect. He wasn't even going to have to bust some heads like he did in Edolas.

She'll let out a big old sigh of relief, she was happy she didn't screw up this meeting completely.

"Well I've been here for a few months now, so yeah, you could say I'm pretty familiar with it. It's not too bad once you get used to it, there's some real creeps around here and once a giant monster attacked, butasidefromthoseit'sreallygreat."

"What d'ya mean by 'creeps'?" Because that sounded rather promising. If there was an underworld here, that could make for some good information.

Or a good guilt-free beating. Either-or. Gajeel wasn't picky.

"Well I mean jerks who try to make everyone miserable around here for no good reason. People that need a serious butt kickin'. You know, jerks!

Dammit, he's stuck with you guys even in the afterlife!

[ YEP, you're never gonna be rid of your nakama Gajeel. MWAHAHAH-oh right. Lucy had been just walking down the stairs with a book and a thoughtful look on her face when Gajeel walked in. She blinked for a second, and then brown eyes widened. ]

Gajeel..!? When did you get here..?

Natsu was as always at the guild eying the job board since different requests started coming in since the official official opening. Natsu counted it as official only after the mess with the bombs was cleared up thanks to the pillowfight of the ages planting him firmly inside a wall.

Either way his nose flared up as a familiar scent came wafting in from behind the door and the moment Gajeel stepped through Natsu and lunged forward at the cloaked figure, fist ablaze and aiming straight for Gajeel's head. He knew the fellow Dragonslayer could stop it of course. IT was just his brand of greeting.

"I thought somethin' stunk in here," Gajeel said as he brought his forearm up to intercept the blow. He also turned it into iron at the same time, so that Natsu's fist clanked off of solid metal. Then he retaliated by raising his leg, transforming it into a club, and sending it shooting straight for Natsu's abdomen.

"Hello to you too, Salamander. Why am I not surprised you made it?" Strangely, though, Gajeel was smiling. It was one of his terrifying smiles, true (did he have any other?), but still. This is how Dragon Slayers say hello!

He at least took a moment to glance in Lucy's direction, though. "Earlier today. I figured I'd get a look around the town, get the lay of the land...then I found you guys. Small world, huh?" And then it occurred to him that he'd just taken his eyes off of Natsu. Crap.

It's an inevitability (unless you're Wendy) that when Dragon Slayers meet they must immediately brawl. Lucy was already mentally wondering how much damage the two were going to cause to the guild, a hand palming her face in an amused sort of exasperation.

That Gajeel was a scary man, but seeing him still gave her a little pang of nostalgia, missing her bestie.

"You could say that. I'm still a little surprised, It's been a while so I didn't think this place would pull anyone else from Earthland -" aaaand Natsu is totally capitalizing on Gajeel's mistake isn't he.

Natsu grinned right back when he blocked his punch like that. However he still had another hand and he ignited it violently so as to catch the metal club before it could hit him in the torso.

"You sure that wasn't the stench of the last scrapyard you emptied?" Natsu taunted back before an opening presented itself.

"You're wide open!" Natsu called out and threw a vicious headbutt aimed at Gajeel's face.

"It was soot and B.O.! I'd recognize that smell anywhere!" Gajeel grunted in pain as Natsu's forehead impacted with his own. For a moment he saw stars, but just a moment. Then the club in Natsu's hand began to bulge outward, moments before a secondary club shot straight up towards his chin.

"Gihi! That's what ya get for takin' a cheap shot, Salamander!"

Not that Gajeel had any room to talk about cheap shots, of course.

Boys. They were just so typically brawly! If it wasn't Gray, then it was the other Dragon Slayer. But Lucy was more than used to this behavior - heck, Fairy Tail had a brawl a day sometimes, and sometimes even two brawls.

Natsu had to be happy to have a fellow Dragon around after the latest craziness, but hopefully they would keep from damaging the guild too much. Speaking of.."Ahaha - try not to wreck the place too much you guys! You don't want Erza coming in and seeing it a mess." Especially after the bomb fiasco.

Boys will be boys though! She trotted herself over to a table, perching on one of the benches to oversee the fighting. They'd have to catch Gajeel up if he was from before them - or vice versa if he was from after. But she wasn't going to begrudge them some brawling time!

"Like you're any better!" Natsu cried out even though the hit connected. However the damage was minimal as he pushed his jaw down against the club through sheer force alone as an aura of flames errupted around him.

And just as quickly as they manifested, the flames dispelled at the mention of a name. Erza would skin them alive if they damaged the place too much. This realization left Natsu open this time.

"Gihihihi! You're wide open!"

Yes, Gajeel really did just repeat Natsu's own words back at him. Open question whether it was intentional or not. Either way, Gajeel spun about and transformed his leg back to normal while simultaneously swinging his fist in a haymaker aimed at Natsu's face. The slight upward angle of the punch suggested he was going for distance over damage, though.

He spared Lucy a glance, then pointedly folded his arms over his chest. "Yeah, well, I guess that's good enough for today, Salamander." No way was he going to cop to being afraid of Erza's wrath. Even if he was, a little.

Gajeel then turned to face Lucy. "So, what was that about it bein' a while? Don't tell me you two are the only ones to--" Nope. Not even going to finish that thought.

Those two were too much alike sometimes. Even in their totally legit fear of Erza. Match suspended for the moment, she waved them to join her at the table. They could at least catch up.

"Well... technically I guess it hasn't really been a while, Time works strangely here. Natsu, Erza and I have been here since January. We were home before that for a few weeks, but we were also pulled to another place called Exsilium for almost two years. But no time passed back home.

Theres something about the power here that seems to stop time for you back home.

Natsu went flying back but managed to adjust himself in such a way that he skidded on his feet only knocking a few wooden tables aside before coming to a stop.

"Fine. I'll let you off today with just that." No way he was admitting this as a defeat even if he had a lovely bruise on one cheek. Nothing a bit of fire wouldn't heal up and there was ample supply of the stuff in the hall.

He grabbed a torch and walked up next to Lucy while she explained. "It's both a pain and a relief really. Though it means we gotta run through all sorts of questions whenever others from Earthland show up."

"What about Pantherlily?" Because of course Gajeel was worried about his cat. Who wouldn't be?! It felt like he was forgetting someone, though...

...someone really short...

Oh yeah! "And Levy?" Another thoughtful pause. "And the others?" Can't forget about them either. Then, because something about Lucy's story sounded odd to him, he continued: "The last thing I remember was Acnologia getting ready to roar, and then...nothing. I woke up in some weird metal pod."
