Third Reel: This Family™ [Closed]
Who: Grell, Marco, and Ace
Where: The Dancing Donner
When: April 15th
What: Marco needs to get Grell and Ace to communicate, or at least tolerate each other.
Warnings: Bad language, Grell, Ace, Marco...basically they all come with their own warnings.
It was a long day of work for Grell. They had to reprogram dozens of items that required wireless connection due to an error in a few lines of their robotic pets. Nothing like the abominations she fought during her bounty mission, thankfully. It made for a long enough day that Grell was just glad that Marco asked her to come down to his job for an after work drink. With nothing else scheduled for the evening, how could she say no?
Walking through the doors, Grell gave a tired wave to the bouncers on duty for the evening, as well as other staff she passed by as she made her way to the bar. She parked herself onto a stool and gave her pineapple haired husband a tired smile.
"Hi, cutie~! Nice chest." Grell could never be too tired to flirt.

"I can't take all the credit," he answered with a sly tone. "My wife has an impeccable eye for fashion, among other things. Now what can I get you for the evening, other than the bartender doting on your lovely arm all night long, and probably your neck for starters." It was a good thing Ace wasn't there yet, they were practically sickening like this.

Though he'd known about Grell, it was pretty surprising to see her cuddle up to Marco like that and for him to flirt back. The word wife got him, too. Ace felt a stab of jealousy at Marco choosing someone over Pops. It was like it wasn't really Marco at all.

"What a lucky woman she must be!" Grell leaned an elbow on the counter so as to rest her chin upon her palm casually while giving him a a smirk. She had to admit, that shirt did look nice on him. "Now how can I choose something else when you are the best choice~?"
She sighed dramatically and pointed to that night's special, that was drawn upon a board. There were probably two guesses as to who drew it. "I'll have the cherry sunrise."
Ace slipping into the Dancing Donner went unnoticed by Grell, which was a good thing. She was enjoying her time off work so far.

He could feel a prickle of his haki from Ace, the kid was never any good at concealing it and...
Worse when he was moody. Which he was. Again, as common. Damn it.
Smoothing things out between them was going to be even messier than he worried.
He grabbed a bottle of rum for Ace, and some sake that Pops was fond of, and set them next to Grell's drink, leaning nearby to give her the drink.
"So Kitten... don't do anything crazy, and humor me, please, but I asked someone else here at the same time." He gave her a wincing grin, before whistling over to Ace for him to join them. He took both of Grell's hands in his and smiled cheerfully. "Remember the time when my brother was getting nightmares and since you don't even sleep normally, you stayed with the both of us all through the night?" beam.
"Thing is, he doesn't even remember the reason Thatch gets nightmares, or the cause of it, and he's all alone here, but he's family. So play nice, I'm counting on you!" he kissed her cheek.

But it's not like he's going to leave either.
So instead he slumps down, crossing his ankles on the table and lets his hat fall to shadow his face as he folds his hands behind his head.
you two are freakishly fast >.>;;
Seeing Marco put another drink besides hers wasn't suspicious. It was him acting suspicious that made him suspicious. His whistle wasn't one she recognized, so it probably wasn't a bird whistle. She peered over her shoulder and spotted Ace, who seemed to not be moving an inch toward them.
Just as she was going to open her mouth to protest about him "inviting" her down to the bar after work for what she thought would be just them enjoying each other's company, Marco went and soothed her tirade before it even started. Grell glowered at him, remembering that time perfectly clear. How could he use that winning smile against her?!
"...fine." She'd behave until otherwise. At least one of them was acting maturely, in her opinion. Yes, they were family, but that didn't always mean Grell was kind.
Because Idk when migraine will come back and I'm bugging Sharon huehuehue
Marco grabbed the bottles and gently led Grell over before casually grabbing a seat with Ace.
"Evening cowboy." He set both bottles loudly on the table. "Sake is one Pops would have liked. Believe it or not, Grell was actually adopted too, as a daughter." There was a slight scrunch to Marco's face. It was bittersweet for him. And always would be. He'd rather die a million times over than let Ace find out what happened to their old man, but it didn't stop him from missing his father himself.
"But I guess you were always a bit hostile starting out, yeah?" The irony of it was killing Marco. First he had to deal with the Ace who was a marine, then the various Aces who bounced in and out. Sometimes they remembered things, sometimes they didn't. Sometimes they were clingy and needy and sad and every single one Marco would move time, space, and the entire universe to try to help. But they were always a little hostile. Even when they were wrapped around him like an octopus on a treat, it was just a matter of not wanting to let anyone else near.
Then again, Marco could be like that too. Especially given how easily Ace could and frequently did find himself in danger.
"Let's start fresh, all right?"
"Grell, Ace. Ace, Grell. Grell and I met at Balamb Garden, before coming here." Marco frowned and ran a hand through his hair, and finally tugged Ace into a rough one-armed hug and stuffed some food in his mouth to buy some time so he could whisper hoarsely in his ear. "Use your stupid manners, be your actually charming self, and leave the rest to me, all right? Please?"

The comment about Pops has him lift his head in surprise and give Marco a confused look. When the hell did that happen? Did it have something to do with Marco feeling crazy? Should he just go along with it or...?
Did she do something maybe? It's so weird for Marco to have a wife... All of this seems... Too different. Like he was tricked somehow. Marco's usually stronger than that kind of thing--but everyone has a weakness.
"Nice to meet you." Have a bow. "Sorry about getting off on the wrong foot before."

It was odd being lead towards a situation she'd rather not take part in, but she promised to behave, for Marco's sanity. Taking a seat across from them, Grell sat down and set her drink on the table, watching them interact.
Pops...she may not have spent a lot of time with him when he was in Balamb, but she certainly missed him. With a nod, Grell pointed to the tattoo on her neck. It was similar to the Whitebeard symbol, but modified so that the crescent was fully closed. Hers was in red. "He officiated our wedding. You can blame Time Compression for that. It distorts timelines." Which was ths short explanation. How she both appreciated and disliked Time Compression.
The bow was surprising, and she really didn't expect anything of the sort from Ace at the moment. Grell only gave a nod, because bowing wasn't her thing. "Well met. I'm infamous for being difficult, yet while I make no apologies about it, it wasn't my intention for things to go south." Grell was also proud of being difficult, but not when it started to tear her family apart.

Marco is so thrilled that he was able to emotionally blackmail two of his favorite people into proximity and nothing is on fire or being chainsawed in half yet!!!
He's so proud of you both!!
And gratefully squishes them both in glomping hug. He knows it's just for his sake, but he appreciates it all the same.
"Great! So let's share drinks, and we can talk!" Marco grabbed a seat in the middle in case he needed to protect one or the other of them both.
"Grell also got along well with Namur and his division! And she's good with super advanced technology I can't do anything with!"
Can either of you really stop this sparkly smile? Can you bring yourself to wreck it?

Grell mushed his face away, because he was just lavishing too much in all of this! She could kick him right now! Or not, since he was laying on the compliments thick. Maybe she'll kick him later and glower a bit at him in the meantime.
"I'd teach you how to navigate a computer, but you might make it bleed again." Nope, not going to let him live that down, even though she thought he was very cute.
