001 - A new challenger appears; video/action

Video; Genessia City, close to the Bay

[The video starts with a blonde teenage girl close to the screen. In the beginning, only her face is present, but she pulls it back once she realizes it's working. It was surprisingly easy, even if it looks nothing like her own phone.]

Do you really think you can kidnap someone like me?! Papa is going to be looking, and when he finds me, anybody who helped is going to punished!

[She tries to make herself commanding, strong, but her voice wavers and moisture collects at the corner of her eyes. Sena's afraid, horribly so, and she's not really sure what to do. Who had taken her? Some pervert? Someone after money? Did they think what little they had given her would keep her quiet?! No, she was Kashiwazaki Sena, and she was going to...

...do something.]

I might be generous, but even someone like me has limits. If you help me get home now, I'll make sure the punishment isn't as bad.

[The video ends just as the haughty words do, the last syllable punctuated by what sounds like a real sob.]

Action; Genessia City

[Those who see Sena early on sees the weakest, most vulnerable part as she works to deal with being away from everything she knows. Despite her reputation in school, she's never had any real responsibility, any need for independence. It was almost time for her to go to University, it would have happened anyway, but not like this, not without resources or any familiar faces.

She's not prepared. It's hard to move very far from the Bay, to enter the new city all alone. For the first few hours, that's where she waits, sitting, holding the device to her chest as she hopes for help.If she moved, she worried she would be impossible to find in such a larger city.

As the day progresses so does her thinking. Instead of broken, she becomes a bit proactive. Maybe, with so many people around her, someone will rescue her if she just asks. So, Sena will approach, she'll do her best to keep her pride, but ultimately she wants some form of direction.

When that plan fails, when she's still in Genessia come nightfall, the walking is more directionless. Despite it only being a day, and not yet a full one, desperation has set in. Despite what the pamphlet said, Sena doesn't want to live in the city, she doesn't want to be part of this place. She has her own home, family, school, fr-- a club.]

{ Says the one wearing a mask that electronically masks his voice. He looks like he's in some kind of highrise apartment, the device strategically placed only to show a window overlooking Nova City, a wall, and not much else. He could be anywhere, there. }

[kirino isn't that much help when it comes to trying to calm others down- but at least she knows where someone like sena would be coming from.]

It's not that easy. Trust me- I thought this was some weird kidnapping too, but it's kind of like... a vacation in another world entirely.

[This guy! He's obviously a criminal! Could it be any more obvious with that mask! This is where he makes his big speech about what he wants after threats that no one will hear her! She won't fall for it!

Her hands tremble as she clutches the device harder.]

You! A stupid mask won't be enough to hide who you are! As soon as the police come, they'll see this too! I'm not going to listen to some dumb threats so you can just go die!

[The girl who pops up on the screen is definitely cute. The adorable face is proof that it's probably some pervert kidnapping the cutest of cute girls.]

There's no way it's a vacation! It's definitely a kidnapping! [Has she been brainwashed? Did that really happen?] But when Papa comes, I won't leave you. [They may be big words for someone on the verge of tears, but there is a protective instinct when it comes to cuteness.]

Hey, if the Titans couldn't catch me, I ain't afraid of a beat cop. 'Sides, interdimensional travel? That's a bit above my paygrade. I didn't bring you here. I was brought here just like you were, and unless your dad was, too, he's not coming, s'all I'm saying.

From what I have seen, there seems to be no sign of whoever has kidnapped us. Though this does not preclude the idea that they may walk amongst us.

Would you like for me to come find you? It is against the code of chivalry to leave a maiden alone and afraid after all.

[It's hard to tell if this was either a really pretty effeminate man, or a pretty girl with androgenous features who was sipping a cup of tea. It probably doesn't help she's currently wearing a form-fitting black suit with black gloves on as well.]

[Early in the day, Blaze happened to be taking a walk, while carrying his munchkin cat companion in his arms. When he passes close to the Bay, he spots the girl from the corner of his eye. He assumes she's a new arrival, but seeing her just sitting there does raise a little bit of concern in his mind. He stops, choosing to keep his distance for now to give her space and speaking gently.]

Are you alright, miss?

[Her dad isn't even in law enforcement, which makes the threats even more ridiculous.]

Why would someone bring you here? It's hard to trust somebody who's wearing that costume, you know. I'm not going to be tricked that easily.

[Sena assumes her a girl because she's cute, and boys aren't cute. Yeah, the guy was definitely a pervert. Her coloring is even similar to Sena's. A pervert with a type.]

A-a maiden? [Somehow, despite the situation, having someone who looked like Saber say those words is enough to cause her heart to feel like it skipped a beat. Maybe the androgynous features help. After all, Sena doesn't actually dislike boys.]

E-eh. [Having someone (cute) acting so chivalrous is enough to make the tears really fall. Slowly, she nods. She would very much like Saber to come find her.]

[Hearing a voice startles her, and she quickly stands. She doesn't know anyone here, she doesn't know who she can trust and who she can't. Sena is in a world full of strangers, and is ill prepared for the ordeal.]

A-are you the one who brought me here? [She doesn't mean to stutter, but fear makes her tongue thick.] I won't let you get away with it! If you don't send me back right now, you're going to be in a lot of trouble!

[He can't help but look a little confused at her. Him? Kidnap anyone? Hell no, especially not after what just happened to him a few short weeks ago. And that's even barring the whole thing about him having to rescue the leaders of two countries in a war. But, well, not like he hasn't faced insane accusations before.]

No, I was brought here the same as you. No one knows who's responsible for it.

[Who or what, rather, but he hasn't really thought about the latter of the two kidnapper options.]

[ jade showed up and now he has one of his best friends here. they were all mostly together, sectioned off into small groups, before he showed up in genessia. he can't help hovering around the general bay area now just in case. looking - really hoping. dirk and terezi were next to him but jade came so he doesn't know who he expects. just waiting and seeing. he doubts any of them would stay put so he wanders.

night falls and nobody. his shoulders drop but that's fine, he tells himself. it took about a damn month and change for anyone he knew to show up. stupid. he's about to just head "home" and ends up walking next to a girl that definitely looks waaaaay lost in comparison to everyone else he saw today. still holding the welcome pamphlet. ah. ]

Hey. You want my map? [ he slips it out of his back pocket. it's basically memorized by now. only brought it to pass off if a friend showed up. she probably needs it way more. probably a little weird getting offered a map from a sixteen year old boy that's literally wearing sunglasses at night but he's pretty sure he's not coming off as creepy and more of a super helpful stranger ]

[No one else has approached her, no one else has talked to her. The first person who does is most likely to get explanation, no matter how kind they would have appeared otherwise. It doesn't help that Sena isn't accustomed to having men be nice to her without it being for the wrong reasons.

Should she trust him? That isn't easy, but he's also not making demands or threats. Wiping at her face, her eyes go to the cat. Bad guys can have pets, she knows that, but it really is a cute cat...]

Then...who are you?

[Having just pulled herself together, her voice is strained, and shows sighs of the tears she had been crying at the end of the video.]

[Sena wishes it was nobody that showed, that she had never been plucked from her home to land in some city that she doesn't recognize. Travel isn't something she did often, it's not as if she would recognize a lot of cities, but this one definitely seems different.

Not expecting to be spoken to. Dave gets her attention pretty quickly. Had this been back at home, where she was confident and brave...r, then his reception would likely be a cold one. Another perverted boy, hoping to get close to her. Likely, she would take the map without a word, because that is the relationship she has with men: they offer in hopes of something less than pure, she took without fulfilling.

Here, she's neither or confident. Here, she's afraid, and homesick, and unable to trust.

Cautiously, she reaches her hand out to accept the gift.]

I won't do anything weird for it.

What.

[ he freezes in place. both eyebrows raising up slowly in surprise and confusion. mouth in a thin line. he passes over the map then drops his arm to his side ]

What the fuck do you think I want? Jesus Christ. I didn't realize maps are weird predatory blackmail currency. Do I look that sketch to you? Holy shit. I don't know if I should be hella offended or concerned about where you were living that your head immediately went there.

You know how hard it is to find xenothium-powered combat/infiltration suits in my size? I didn't design it, but I do gotta say, it looks pretty cool on me.

{ A beat. }

Seriously, though, whoever's bringing us here doesn't do their homework, anyway. You think this is scary? We got vampires, demons, and creepy living dolls here, too.

[Sisko is a very adorable cat, who happens to also be staring in Sena's direction. Blaze, meanwhile, was aware that the girl must have been crying, and so he still chooses to keep his distance so he doesn't potentially had any more stress on her. With how young she looked, the situation of just waking up in this place was probably already enough stress.]

I go by Blaze. I'm a pilot for Osea's 108th Tactical Fighter Squadron. [Or... was... but he really doesn't feel like going into that to correct it.]

"H-How did we get so distracted, Teepo?"

[Running across the city on the way to Fayren, Elize and her hovering doll, Teepo, had a fulfilling day. But night has fallen and surely her friends are wondering where she is. As Elize turns the corner, she accidentally runs straight into another wanderer and springs backward, falling over.

Teepo hovered over his friend while Elize shakes off the daze.]

"Ow..."

[Setting down the tea, Saber rises up from her seat, brushing off her suit in a graceful manner.]

Indeed, a fair maiden who like me was trapped here by some unknown kidnapper.

[The spirit doesn't notice Sena getting flustered over the matter, but instead moves off towards the Bay.]

I shall come to you posthaste. Please remain at The Bay until I arrive. Though I am a recent arrival myself I can at least attempt to answer any questions you might have. Though the first thing to note is that we are on our own here in terms of housing and work.

I'm sorry. I'm sure you've heard but we don't know who has kidnapped us.

[At least not specifically. Terra has a hard time believing that it's some CPU or whatever the other theories out there are.]

Are you hurt?

[Once a week, Athrun swings by the Bay at night to see if anyone has shown up there. So far, he hasn't found anyone, but he can't shake the nagging feeling that someone, someday, will.

This time, his instinct proves to be on point. He very quickly finds Sena wandering aimlessly not far from the Bay.]

Ah -- hey! Over here!

[Athrun raises his hand and waves so that the girl will notice him. He then approaches, keeping his other hand at his side. He wants to make sure that she realizes that he means no harm.]

Pardon me, but you look like you're lost. If I can, I'd...well, I can't simply ignore someone who needs help.

[She has no idea how hard it is to find xenothium-powered anything. Or even what it was.

Red manages to be anything but comforting in the last sentence. Sena's quiet for one beat, two, three, and when she speaks, it's only after looking around.]

I told you I'm not that stupid! There's no way any of that stuff is real! [She clutches the phone tighter. It's a lie, he's lying, he's intentionally trying to bully her.

At home, she doesn't trust strangers nearly enough to do much more than brush them off, but here, she's already afraid.]

[Meeting someone like Saber, charming and beautiful and who is probably a woman in Sena's mind but could also be a male, is a godsend. It doesn't make everything instantly better, it doesn't make up for being kidnapped and so far from home, but it's certainly the best case scenario if she's going to have to be here.]

I'll stay here. [She hasn't moved far anyway, and probably wont.] But I don't want to work. I want to go home! [She's more openly vulnerable around her, less reliant on that ego.]

[The words are foreign for her. She knows what they all mean separately from one another, but she had never heard the combination.

More than anything, though, is the implication he had gone home at some point. Sena walks forward, blue eyes shining with hope, almost begging him to have an answer.]

Then you went home?! How? I-if you tell me, Papa will give you a big reward, so...

[Gifts are, everybody knows that. Strangers don't just offer things, don't supply help without some kind of hope for a reward. He's a guy, he has to know that! That's why friends were so hard to come by: girls were bitches and men were perverts.

His reaction surprises her, largely because the language would be considered strong where she lives, and that makes the situation incredulous, and a little bit scary. Yankees used strong language. Luckily, that's a danger she's not so cawed by.]

Stop acting like it's so weird. If you're going to give a cute girl a present, she's going to know why! It'd be easier if you're honest about it. I still won't reward you, but I know the truth anyway!
