[There's a short pause as Ozpin's video begins, seemingly looking out over the city from a rooftop somewhere before speaking.]

...It's been quiet lately. Almost too quiet.

Teams RWBY and JNPR, I'd appreciate an update on current status of your members. And Glynda, it would be nice if you checked in once in a while as well.

[All said with a very monotone voice, only his jaw moving, and looking almost preoccupied with something in the distance rather than addressing the device itself.]

Hm, of course it is. I've been taking note of the types of people who have found their way here over the last few months as well as going through the old newspapers. The real question is which potential bomb is going to explode first?

Considering the number of potential 'bombs' as you put it that have shown up as of late, simply keeping track of all of them has been a challenge in itself. Attempting to predict which will detonate first is a fool's game.

The best we can do at the moment is be prepared and mitigate what damage an explosion would cause.

[Still not moving. At all, really.]

[The feed turns on as she looks into the camera with a raised eyebrow. At least now she has a robe on and her hair isn't more than a little mussed.]

Keeping track of them all? There are only five-[Bridget caught herself and stared intently at him for a few thoughtful moments.]

I keep forgetting that other worlds have different systems, and tend to be filled with youngsters. [It wasn't condescending, just thoughtful. Yup, this coming from someone who looked barely older than his students.]

To underestimate any of the inhabitants of this place is to invite disaster.

Each has the potential to level this place, should they choose to act on it.

Of course they do, I would expect nothing less. Which is just another part of the problem since there are so many small groups working individually... well.

[Bridget shrugged. His eyes were old enough to understand her point. One didn't need fifteen enthusiastic but uncommunicative sledgehammers to put a nail in the wall.]

Which is why I've tried to keep those from my world acting as a group for the most part. Though, that is easier for them than it would be for others as they are trained to work as a unit, rather than an individual.

[A small smile.]

I envy you just a little, I suppose. Has there been any attempt at organizing some of the smaller lawful or neutral groups into regular communication?

Don't. Our organization comes from necessity, not luxury.

There have been one or two, but none have met with much success.

[A slightly raised eyebrow.]

That wasn't what I was referring to.

That you have at least some who you know and trust here. Just having someone to watch your back as you watch theirs can make a great difference.

Is that truly a boon though? Here, we are all trapped, away from the comforts of home and family. To have someone to watch your back is certainly a good thing, but I cannot say I would have desired it, had I been brought here alone.

Then again, if time truly stands still while we are here, then it is a moot point, I suppose.

I questioned that during my first three hours with similar doubts. I'm needed back home, but if I disappear there are certain people I left in charge of various basic tasks with the expectation that their seconds would be trained to step in if something happened to them just as I experienced.

[she paused to take a sip of some oddly handy and steaming tea... which may have been a pitcher of water and dry tea leaves a few moments ago]

No true leader wishes hardship or displacement on anyone. I do hope that the rumor on the time discrepancy is true.

I guess it has. Though we did run into these weird earth dolls that tried to kill us over in Fayren.

Even that would be considered to be fairly tame, considering what has been previously thrown at us, including the massive beast that attacked some time ago.

[Okay if that wasn't enough he'll raise the stakes.]

What about giant talking snakes? Though I took out the one that came after us?

Snakes of that kind are fairly commonplace in my world as they manifest as Creatures of Grimm.

Allow me to clarify. I don't speak of the things that are not affiliated with anything outside of this place. I am more concerned regarding the machinations of those that live within the city.

So that asshole and his toys have been playing nice?

[Yes he's quite bitter about the attempted bombing on the guild.]

For the moment, anyway. He is building his army, as expected, but it is not so much as to be too worrisome.

Should he gain the cooperation of a handful of the newer residents that have taken up apartments in Nova City... that might become an issue.

Are you sure about that though? What if he's building more in places you can't see? The bastard has a knack at doing shady things without people noticing.

[After all he did plant bombs inside the walls of the guild.]

I find it wise not to tempt fate, or anything sinister that lurks in the shadows of this city.

[That wasn't meant to jab at Ozpin. Caelica is just saying]

Regardless I shall keep my eyes sharp and be prepared for anything, sir.

Coming from a world where the shadows actively attempt to devour any and all traces of humanity, and plunge the world back into a suffocating darkness, I find it more prudent to stand at the edge of the light, defiant of those that would seek to expand the shadows.

To ignore what lurks within is only showing your back to the enemy, and thus tempting fate even more.

[He responds very matter-of-factly, no hint of emotion, or any kind of inflection, really.]

Then our worlds differ greatly, sir.

[Caelica notices how calm this man is, but didn't make any comment or give it further thought]

As an assisting hand to the Guardian of Fayren, I would offer you my help in case things go ill in this city.

Count yourself lucky then.

I will keep it in mind, and I am sure your abilities could be put to use, should anything happen.

[Trying to sound like a girl] Checking in!

[Even if there's nobody to glare at, he turns slowly and offers a very slight glare.]

I know every student in my academy - all 834 - and have committed voices, speech patterns, and other idiosyncrasies to identify them to memory. To pose as one in such a blatant way is an insult to the training, talent, and danger each have endured to get to where they are today.

Riiight. Let me tell you, if I'm insulting people I'm not going to do it by pretending to be them. I'm gonna call em a jackass right to their face. [Have a pointed look right at your face] But you go right ahead and be insulted if you want dude.

[Man this guy is a riot. Killua thinks it's a good thing he's so modest or he might just take Mr. Prickly at his word and put his students in the hospital. But that would be more likely if he was taking the man serious at all. Right now he doesn't know where the guy got the impression he cared one wit about his students, their accomplishments or lack thereof or proving himself to anyone at all.]

Age has very little to do with the issue of maturity.

Anyone can grow up. But only some mature beyond childhood.

You said child. Not immature. And some kids prove themselves just fine and act like kids do too.

What are those teams for?

They are trained to track, hunt, and exterminate monsters that would otherwise do the same to humanity. Each individual on each team is a force to be reckoned with, and when functioning as a team, there are no obstacles they cannot overcome.

Well, that sort of philosophy is something I can agree with. I had a team like that once upon a time.. though, we didn't really have monsters except for that once, but there was another reason to team up.

Either way, does that mean there are monsters here somewhere?

There have indeed been beasts that have attacked the city, one the size of the largest buildings found in the city. Monsters, however, are predictable. They can be planned around, manipulated, and out-thought.

What worries me more are some of the other inhabitants of this place.

I'd prefer people to monsters any day, even the ones that are a little messed up. Who were you thinking of though? It might be interesting to know who to keep an eye on.

[ Or go and talk to, you know. Whatever. ]

The ones that worry me the most are the ones I know the least about. They are fairly new to this place, but their speech seems to belie something fairly tragic about their home.

I will not give out names, simply because they have done nothing yet to warrant investigation. For now they are innocent.

There is just something about them that... worries me.

That almost sounds like you're just worried because they're new. [ She points to herself. ] Do I look dangerous to you just because I'm new?

Is the quiet not to your liking? You could always come to the guild hall...

I do not refer to the lack of sound, but rather the relative inactivity of certain inhabitants in this place.

Do you dislike inactivity?

[The almost mechanical facade lingers for half a second before he allows his shoulders to droop and his face to show emotion.]

I'm sorry, Ruby. I had my suspicions, but with this being my first instance of someone leaving this place... I wanted confirmation.

Miss Goodwitch will be acting to support your team in her stead for the time being. Is there anything you or your team need, Ruby?

It's okay though, really, I mean she's gone back home, right? That's a good thing. We'll get there to see her sooner or later.

Honestly, I don't know if she has or not.

For the moment, however, we can only hope she has, and that she will be awaiting our return as well. For now, focus on the moment, and carrying on. I can only imagine the lecture she would have if she ever found out you were unable to lead because of this.

Well, I really hope she is... Other people around here say that they've been pulled into other worlds and went back home and then ended up here. It'd make sense that she wound up back there, but that's really just a guess.

R-Right, I'll do just that, I'd never heart he end of it if something like that happened.
