[The rain is pouring down on the streets of Genessia on the day Mariko woke up at the Bay. Her clothes were drenched from waddling through the water there as she rushes for the exit. She passed by the hologram and didn't even notice it was there, as her mind was preoccupied on whatever trouble she thinks she got herself into now. Clutching that necklace in her fist, she keeps on running even when the rain is pouring down on her. As the city streets begin feeling all too real for it to be a dream, Mariko slows her sprint and end up on a roundabout. She hears nothing but the typical noise of a city; cars passing by, people on the sidewalk, and the drops of rain on the ground giving off that smell of wet city concrete. She catches her breath, looking around in a confused awe at everything going on around her. With a breathy whisper, she asked herself]

What the hell...?

[The cold rain is making her skin crawl and her body tremble. She leans forward and pressed her palms on her knees, only making herself feel colder as the rain water soaks the back of her uniform. Tired from overusing her newly acquired superhuman powers, Mariko slowly drags her feet under a roof. Her head weighs heavily, and the strap of her duffel school bag hanging on her shoulder feels like it's biting against her skin, as it grew heavier from the water. Her knees buckled slightly as she nearly collapses by the glass of the store front. Mariko catches herself and pressed her hand against the brick wall for support, still catching her breath]

I... feel...

[Overwhelmed. The last memory she has before waking up here was snooping around a murder scene, and it was just all black. The next thing she knows, she is inside a tube. She groans weakly, falling to her knees and resting her head against the wall]

Help.

[After a couple of days, Mariko has accepted her fate of being stuck in this world. She stayed in the Amagi Inn to recover and get her thoughts in order. The familiar setting helped her cope with the big reveal. Figuring she might as well do what the Romans do, Mariko fired up her communicator after checking it out and tinkering with it. It's very high-tech from what she's used to, but she managed to pick up on its functions quickly and decided to hide her identity for a while and plant some "bait" to see what sort of people she's stuck here with]

All of those are familiar but... 2016 is about 9 years into my future, if that makes sense? We're not all from the same time. I'm not quite from Tokyo either.

[Thanks to the rain, Blaze was able to leave his apartment without his cat for once, and was taking a walk through the city with an umbrella open above him. He was on his way to the library but was taking a bit of a longer route than usual. He eventually stops, his eyes landing on the girl leaning against the wall. Immediately concerned, he walks over, holding the umbrella over her head, the rain starting to dampen his flight jacket.]

[Mariko heard the footsteps and the voice of a man speak to her, but all her senses were blurred. She struggled to even keep her eyes open, seeing only a blurred image of Blaze in front of her. She takes a few breaths just to feel like she can answer him]

Does... feeling like dying okay?

[Mariko's voice was weak as she feels the cold starting to overcome her. Her eyes failed to stay open, closing shut as her head tilts lifelessly on the wall. She keeps on breathing, trying to stay awake as much as she can. The necklace was still tangled within her loosened fingers, and her duffel with sewn on patches of music groups and military emblems drops off from her shoulder]

[This was more serious than he initially thought. He frowned, dropping the umbrella beside them and put his hands on her arms.]

Hey, stay with me!

[He doesn't yell, but he did raise his voice slightly. The hospital wasn't too far from their location, and he's not about to care about being late to his job. All it was was putting books back in place anyway. He doesn't want to pick her up without warning, so before he does-]

I'm going to get you to the hospital, okay? Take it easy.

Have you heard of Mahora? It's a super loaded school that's essentially its own city. I was born in Kyoto though.

I met this really nice guy- athrun (oh jeez i hope im spelling that right)
he helped me calm down and helped me learn the ropes
but other than that all i have is my cat berkut

[Mariko's consciousness is fading by the time Blaze managed to ask, so Mariko could only nod in response as she was enveloped by darkness. She can't even remember the cold clothes she wore or the trickling of the rain against her skin Blaze brings her to the hospital. Hopefully with her stuff in tow. Her bag hides her wallet with things of sentimental value to her.

Once Blaze gets Mariko to the hospital, the doctors couldn't find anything peculiar that's wrong with Mariko. She was just exhausted, and their only suggestion is to have her rest in one of the hospital beds until she wakes up the next day. Only Mariko's body recovered faster than normal, waking her up faster than what was expected.

She opens her eyes; blinking twice to clear her sight and other senses. She could hear the hospital machines beside her, and even the buzzing of the lights on the ceiling. She clenches her fist, sitting up quickly to look around her. Mariko notices the hospital gown on her and the paper wristband on her right arm, eyeing it closely to see that they even got her name right]

So that wasn't just a dream. Where am I?

[Berkut is a name of a jet fighter, so naturally that made her interested. She'll remember the name of this good Samaritan. But if Jess isn't sure that's how it's spelled, Mariko wasn't sure if she could contact this Athrun through the device. Knowing someone came here with a cat just deepened the mystery for her. All she got was her school bag.]

[Her duffelbag was sitting by the closet in her room, while Blaze was still present at the doorway and talking to one of the nurses. He may have been getting a little sick of seeing this hospital lately, but he wasn't about to leave that girl behind in the hospital with no explanation, so he was willing to stay there for a while. When he heard movement, he looked over his shoulder, and was visibly relieved to see her awake. He nodded to the nurse and let her go back to her other business and approached Mariko.]

I'll explain as best I can. First, how are you feeling?

but two of my other close friends are both from russia
they named him after the Su-47 fighter since we're all kinda.

[Mariko can't help but smile. Talking to someone who likes aircraft like her. But this fleeting moment of relief and joy was hijacked by the thought of the Grey Man - the mysterious and anonymous person controlling her life right now, and the one to grant her powers. Since they seem to know everything about her and her family, Mariko can't ignore the nagging voice in her head that this is a trap. Still she'll play along]

Never was one for video games. Always seemed too boring for me. I will say that I'm familiar with Tokyo, haven't been there though. Just be warned, might not be the same Tokyo.

[Yeah, she may have called herself "super cool" because of her alter-ego. She had to keep up the impression they were separate people! ... even... if... no one had heard of the Aerial Hearts here.]

[Mariko looks to Blaze, still looking as confused as she was earlier in the rain. But not long after, she looks down to her hands and clenches her fists.]

Not so different. My head still feels like I can break a wall with it.

[Mariko looks away from Blaze, seeing her bag and clothes by the closet giving her a bit of relief from everything that happened. She lets her right hand move to hold her head]

What are you still doing here? I must have been sleeping for a day.

I didn't want to bring you here and leave you incase you had any questions when you woke up.

[He had thought about going home and coming back in the morning, but he didn't feel right doing that. He'd gone home long enough to feed his cat, at least, and even managed to recover his abandoned umbrella on the way back.]

I brought you to the hospital in Genessia City. [He hesitates a moment. She was clutching the pendant from the box, and had a bag with her...] Do you remember anything before you collapsed?

[She could be risking her safety here, Mariko thought. She has no idea what this world is and what it can do. She has no idea if this person on the other end is even a real flesh-and-blood being. But she has to take some risks if she wants to get anywhere here]
