Heartbreak Hat-Trick: Action / Closed

Chapter 1: Pyrrha Nikos
Pyrrha was the first stop on this little adventure. The promised spaghetti dinner had been totally worth it, which meant Emerald was on a mission. The first part of that mission meant going up against the girl formerly known as the Invincible Girl. It had taken some waiting on Emerald's part. Pickpocketing Jaune's phone was the first step. The second step was getting near enough to their home to use her semblance on Pyrrha, to make the voice in the phone call sound like Jaune's. An invitation to a nice restaurant with a few intentionally stumbled over words to make it sound more realistic in diction in addition to making Pyrrha hear it as Jaune's voice.

It was a restaurant over in Attleton- something quaint, but nice. More importantly, far away from the rest of the brats so it was a lot less likely to get witnesses. Emerald was waiting out the restaurant they were supposed to meet at, making sure that she saw Pyrrha before Pyrrha saw her. Pyrrha had to believe it was really Jaune, after all.

Chapter 2: Jaune Arc
Jaune's phone had been passed off to someone else to drop on their lawn as soon as Emerald had started their date. She figured he'd think he'd just accidentally dropped it if that was the case. Simplest explanations were the easiest to accept and made the best lies, especially with someone's whose instincts were about as honed as an Ursa's needlepoint. Once Pyrrha was probably off taking some time for herself to think, Emerald headed off to catch Jaune before he got off work. It was easy to find him, and when Emerald did, she approached him from behind- as Pyrrha, at least to Jaune's mind.

"Jaune, can I.. speak with you for a moment? In private?"

It was best to get him farther away from work if possible-- less chance of getting caught by one of the Schnee brat's (other) minions.

Chapter 3: Pyrrha Nikos and Mercury Black
The break-up was going well, but it wasn't enough. The true purpose of today's activities still had to be met- or at least the original purpose, even if at this point it was just trying to rub salt in the wounds. This time, when Emerald sought Pyrrha out, she had company. Most would consider being approached by the two of them almost menacing, but Emerald had her friendliest smile on and took care to try to stay at least a step ahead of Mercury- after all, she was supposed to be taking the lead on this one.

"Hi, Pyrrha! I know we're probably not people you want to talk to, ever, but.. we've been thinking a lot, and we were talking and now there's something we want to talk to you about. We'll try to make it quick if you decide you want it that way."

[While Pyrrha wasn't one to question date invites from Jaune, something seemed a bit... strange... She was probably just imagining things. Well whatever, she was just happy to get a date invite from him, so she didn't question it too much. Why way in Attleton though? There were closer places....

She didn't see Jaune when she arrived, but she just assumed that she had arrived before him.]

[Speaking in private didn't sound like a good sign, but Jaune stopped whining under his breath about being unable to find his phone and spun around to try and smile at the person who, as far as he knew, was Pyrrha.]

Sure. Where did you want to talk? This is private. I don't think anyone's going to overhear us.

[He was stalling, and he would probably continue to try as long as possible.]

[He pauses, not sure why he feels like he's going to his execution. He hasn't been fair to Pyrrha, and it's been an uncomfortable fact that none of them have been willing to face, even if they all noticed. It doesn't stop him from being nervous, but if she wants to talk, she deserves that. Taking her hand, he's grateful he wears gloves, because his palms are already beginning to feel clammy.]

Yeah. A walk. Because we di--do that. [If she's trying to reassure him, he's failing at doing the same.]

Wait. Just...stop for a second and let me say something first.

[With panic taking over, Jaune holds up his free hand, taking a step back and retracting his other to hook his arm around himself protectively. It hurts to see Pyrrha in pain over anything--the guilt at knowing he's the source just makes it worse. But the words are flooding out as he scrambles to try and fix it, to make it better, to make her stop hurting.]

I haven't...I've been unfair to you, and I'm so sorry for that. We all have. It's been weird, and it's hurt you and I'm--I want to fix it, I just don't know how. But that's not what you deserve, you deserve better than that, and I still don't get why you even want to talk to me, or anything, and please say whatever you need to say, I deserve worse, and please tell me what it is I can do.

Pyrrha! Please don't--

[Facing the truth is hard. Every sentence feels like a blow, but even while he wants to get angry at her, for being so self-sacrificing, for always putting herself last because of him, and he wants to plead and try to make it better, he doesn't. He goes quiet, taking a few more steps away and looking off to the side.

He feels like he failed. But he doesn't know how he feels besides that. He does glance up, expression purely hurt, as if Pyrrha had attacked him herself with that one word. But it's quickly hidden, and he turns away so she can't see his expression, probably sounding as empty as he feels.]

Yeah. I understand. I'll go get my things and see about finding somewhere else for now. I'm sorry I hurt you, Pyrrha, and I hope you can find someone better who is worth your time.

[It kind of is his fault, and he knows this. But he can do this and at least not leave Pyrrha to take all of the responsibility. Maybe she can move on. One of them has to. He starts to walk away, but he pauses.]

Just, next time, I hope you can put yourself first. Instead of whoever it is.
