Chapter 1: Pyrrha Nikos
Pyrrha was the first stop on this little adventure. The promised spaghetti dinner had been totally worth it, which meant Emerald was on a mission. The first part of that mission meant going up against the girl formerly known as the Invincible Girl. It had taken some waiting on Emerald's part. Pickpocketing Jaune's phone was the first step. The second step was getting near enough to their home to use her semblance on Pyrrha, to make the voice in the phone call sound like Jaune's. An invitation to a nice restaurant with a few intentionally stumbled over words to make it sound more realistic in diction in addition to making Pyrrha hear it as Jaune's voice.
It was a restaurant over in Attleton- something quaint, but nice. More importantly, far away from the rest of the brats so it was a lot less likely to get witnesses. Emerald was waiting out the restaurant they were supposed to meet at, making sure that she saw Pyrrha before Pyrrha saw her. Pyrrha had to believe it was really Jaune, after all.
Chapter 2: Jaune Arc
Jaune's phone had been passed off to someone else to drop on their lawn as soon as Emerald had started their date. She figured he'd think he'd just accidentally dropped it if that was the case. Simplest explanations were the easiest to accept and made the best lies, especially with someone's whose instincts were about as honed as an Ursa's needlepoint. Once Pyrrha was probably off taking some time for herself to think, Emerald headed off to catch Jaune before he got off work. It was easy to find him, and when Emerald did, she approached him from behind- as Pyrrha, at least to Jaune's mind.
"Jaune, can I.. speak with you for a moment? In private?"
It was best to get him farther away from work if possible-- less chance of getting caught by one of the Schnee brat's (other) minions.
Chapter 3: Pyrrha Nikos and Mercury Black
The break-up was going well, but it wasn't enough. The true purpose of today's activities still had to be met- or at least the original purpose, even if at this point it was just trying to rub salt in the wounds. This time, when Emerald sought Pyrrha out, she had company. Most would consider being approached by the two of them almost menacing, but Emerald had her friendliest smile on and took care to try to stay at least a step ahead of Mercury- after all, she was supposed to be taking the lead on this one.
"Hi, Pyrrha! I know we're probably not people you want to talk to, ever, but.. we've been thinking a lot, and we were talking and now there's something we want to talk to you about. We'll try to make it quick if you decide you want it that way."

I'm finally here
She didn't see Jaune when she arrived, but she just assumed that she had arrived before him.]
welcome to the thunderdome
[ Nothing strange here. Emerald's an excellent actress- between that and her semblance, she has no doubt that Pyrrha will think anything of it. She jogged up with a smile, one hand raised up in a wave before approaching. ]
Come on. I heard this place has great nuggets.
[ That was what Jaune liked. She did her homework on him, just like she had on everyone else back at Beacon. Favorite food? Chicken nuggets. Whether the restaurant actually had good ones was anyone's guess. ]
no subject
Sure. Where did you want to talk? This is private. I don't think anyone's going to overhear us.
[He was stalling, and he would probably continue to try as long as possible.]
no subject
[ Emerald reaches her hand out to hold his. A comforting gesture. Maybe the whole 'we need to talk' bit was a bit of a strong starter, but... well, it was a cliche for a reason. Easier to lie with, too. ]
no subject
Yeah. A walk. Because we di--do that. [If she's trying to reassure him, he's failing at doing the same.]
no subject
Jaune, I--
[ There's pain in "Pyrrha's" eyes, as if she's holding something back. As if she feels guilty about what she's about to say. In reality Emerald isn't even bothering to do anything other than hold his hand right now, watching him quietly as she concentrates. ]

[With panic taking over, Jaune holds up his free hand, taking a step back and retracting his other to hook his arm around himself protectively. It hurts to see Pyrrha in pain over anything--the guilt at knowing he's the source just makes it worse. But the words are flooding out as he scrambles to try and fix it, to make it better, to make her stop hurting.]
I haven't...I've been unfair to you, and I'm so sorry for that. We all have. It's been weird, and it's hurt you and I'm--I want to fix it, I just don't know how. But that's not what you deserve, you deserve better than that, and I still don't get why you even want to talk to me, or anything, and please say whatever you need to say, I deserve worse, and please tell me what it is I can do.
no subject
[ This was easier than Emerald had thought it would be. She thought she was going to have to really guess at reasons and fake a breakdown and run, but this? Jaune was practically handing her everything she needed. ]
I'll always care about you, Jaune, but.. After everything we've been through, you can't even look at me the same way. I don't feel loved, all I feel is your guilt. This place is my last chance, I can't.. waste it on someone who only sees me as a girl with a crush to be pitied because I won't have anything once I leave this place. Maybe I deserve it for going off on my own, I don't know.. but it isn't what you deserve either, Jaune.
[ Pyrrha was always more self-sacrificing. It's not going to seem realistic if it doesn't seem like she's doing this in part of Jaune's sake. Bleh. ]
You deserve to be happy with someone you don't feel guilty around, and I know.. you never saw me like this before we said goodbye, did you? I know you're trying, but I can't help but feel like.. it's a mistake, us being together, even if I love- [ Her voice cuts off, tears forming in her eyes as she reaches out to cover her mouth and hide a sob. Emerald is pretty sure that if this were on video, she'd be getting an acting award. It's too bad her semblance doesn't work that way, she might've had an actual career besides street rat. Instead, she'll settle with being grossed out at actually doing something this sappy and stupid later. ]

[Facing the truth is hard. Every sentence feels like a blow, but even while he wants to get angry at her, for being so self-sacrificing, for always putting herself last because of him, and he wants to plead and try to make it better, he doesn't. He goes quiet, taking a few more steps away and looking off to the side.
He feels like he failed. But he doesn't know how he feels besides that. He does glance up, expression purely hurt, as if Pyrrha had attacked him herself with that one word. But it's quickly hidden, and he turns away so she can't see his expression, probably sounding as empty as he feels.]
Yeah. I understand. I'll go get my things and see about finding somewhere else for now. I'm sorry I hurt you, Pyrrha, and I hope you can find someone better who is worth your time.
[It kind of is his fault, and he knows this. But he can do this and at least not leave Pyrrha to take all of the responsibility. Maybe she can move on. One of them has to. He starts to walk away, but he pauses.]
Just, next time, I hope you can put yourself first. Instead of whoever it is.

Wait though. Wait. She has to finish this in a way that's probably going to make her want to skip dinner later. It'll really but the hammer in the coffin. Pyrrha reaches out to take Jaune's hand, Emerald doing the same to pull Jaune back. She can make him see and hear whatever she wants, but if she wants to move him she has to do that on her own and just make the illusion match it. As soon as he's pulled back, she kisses him. He believes it's Pyrrha, but it's really Emerald, and there's absolutely a photo being taken selfie-style that Jaune can't see. Just in case she needs it. After a brief, but sudden kiss, she pulls back. Pyrrha's sad expression is heart-breaking as tears fall from her eyes... in reality, Emerald just tilts her head as she pulls back, checking her phone to make sure it came out okay. ]
Goodbye, Jaune.
[ And with that, she lets him go and "Pyrrha" runs off. Emerald saunters off calmly until she's out of sight, then pulls the most grossed out expression. She needed to wash her mouth out. ]
