The Waifu paradox [Action] [Backdated 4/22]
Who: Konoka, Ted, Pidonus (maybe), Levy and/or Maria
When: Closing time at the Mahora Omyoudo
Where: The shop first, then wherever the mages can best operate
What: The capture and subsequent disenchantment of a damsel in distress
Ted's love/hate relationship with Everglade grew more solid with each passing incident. The latest was sparked by the pseudo-confession of one Konoka, who had given Ted the idea that she was under a grievous enchantment, held against her will by dark forces. This would not stand! He made plans the following day to extricate her from her predicament, ringing up his two personal Morgan Le Fay's to heed the call.
"Hello Levy, Maria. I've need of your talents. Are either of you experienced in the removal of curses? There's almost certainly one in effect as we speak, holding a young woman in thrall to a malevolent mistress. If you've the means to break her chains, please give me the nearest time and location convenient to you, and I'll make haste with the distressed damsel in question." [OOC: Will work out details under VOICE post below.]
Once the preparations were made, it was time to abscond with the lady in tow. Ted donned his Nundu cloak, making him invisible, then waited outside Konoka's shop. He'd slip in past the last customer, so that none would suspect Konoka's disappearance as the shop was shut up. She appeared powerless to alter her own fate; thus leaving it to daring heroes like Ted (if he does say so himself) to lend a hand.
Ted had a Vileplume; the flower representative of his pokemon menagerie. Through trial and error, he had learned to harness its natural, spore-based weapons to incapacitate. Ideally, Konoka would wind down with a beverage, which Ted could lace with sleeping powder when she wasn't looking. But if the circumstances weren't congenial, Ted had more forceful methods. Two can play at compulsion.

[Voice for Levy & Maria]
Response + Plan
I might be able to do something. If we need to break the connection. [It might not work but an idea is already forming in the young wizards mind. She begins gathering books and then sends Ted a place and a time.
She'd create a field around the girl and slowly write in specific rules that would break any magical hold that might be holding their victim. It'll take some time since Levy doesn't know the nature of the spell that was used but she should be able to do it.]

Got it and good luck. I’ll see you then.
[She’ll actually show up early to set things up. She doesn’t know what Ted’s plans are but she isn’t expecting him to be on time. Maybe after this she’ll get an explanation. Ted does like to talk after all.]

But still: hopefully the curse the young woman who Teddy referred to was NOT actually a curse that would require a herbologic solution!
And so it wasn't, rather; a damned mind control curse, rather... That, she could definitely deal with. She grinned nervously at the phone, as she considered just how she was going to reach the young woman inside her own mind, a young woman she didn't even know.
She was a capable witch: Teddy's little Morgan Le Fay, in fact; she
could DO this!
[Action]
She was just about done making sure the store was closed, making sure the sun was at least still peeking, when she felt thirsty. She decided to take a bit of a drink, knowing that she got held up and needed to jog back. The monsters usually spared her... but she couldn't rely on this strange immunity, and neither did she want to.
Well she managed to finish her drink, and... huh, suddenly her body feels a little heavy. She might have been working hard, but she didn't work that hard yet, right? Concerned that something was compromised, Konoka used the last of her dwindling energy to step back in and lock the door, and at least stay alone until whatever this was--
Konoka crashed onto the floor, now asleep.
Re: [Action]
Thanks to the goku uniform, Ted had an easy time stuffing her into his bag. He didn't normally appreciate any but himself going in, but desperate times call for desperate measures. Wouldn't be the first time he'd used its unending space to secure a hostage.
Bag and bewitched damsel in tow, Ted made off as quietly as he could. Any outside would see a queer sight: the door to the shop, opening and closing without a single person involved, and the sound of muffled footsteps. Thankfully, Everglade's drowned in superstition, and it'd likely be written off as just another bit of spooky trivia.
Once Ted's want for privacy was satisfied, he's off! Another perk of the goku uniform was its boost in all departments of athleticism, including speed. Off he went in a headlong dash to get Konoka to captivity. Hopefully she wouldn't awaken while still within Ted's satchel; poor thing, might think she was having a nightmare, rather than being literally sacked for her own good.
Wherever Levy's place of operation was, Ted got there with plenty of time to spare. He rapped sharply on the door, in a hissing whisper. "Briar Rose."
[Action]
"Ted? You're alone?" Her confusion was obvious but she stepped aside and let him walk in all the same. Everything was set up with the items and books she needed for her spell.
Re: [Action]
As it happens, Ted is in disguise under a mask and cloak. His voice was different too; full of static and gravel. Playing pretend is fun!
"In many respects, but not in this." He quickly walked to the nearest open space; whatever gave the appearance of an operating table the most. He lifted his bag, then shook Konoka out of it like a sack of potatoes. He could've been more gentle, but time was of the essence.
"I leave the rest to you. I'll keep watch; I may have been followed. If she resists you, use this." Ted placed a small pouch of white powder--Vileplume's sleeping spores--next to her. "This shall increase her slumber and let you work unhindered. I do not know the extent or severity of her enchantment; be careful." He gave her a curt nod, then went outside the door to play guardsman, wrapping himself in his cloak to become an unseen observer.
[Action]
This was weird Ted. "If she resists?! Ted! What did you do? You don't take people against their will!" She was half scolding him and half writing a circle around Konoka. It was an easy spell to use after figuring it out. She just needed to write it and activate it. Her calk scribbles over the floor and she begins to move in a circle to get everything written properly and the area set.
This was a little cray Ted, even for him.
Re: [Action]
Levy you always say that. He hisses a sharp "shh!" when his name comes up. Exnay on the amenay!
"Her will has been compromised; dark magic may compel her to hurt others or herself, should the claim on her be in any way contested. I've reason to believe the one to whom she's enthralled is pathologically possessive. Ergo, I could not afford to take chances. You, being versed in sorcery, may know the lengths of the enchantment, and can afford greater liberties."
[Action]
As she spoke she finished writing out her circle. She forced some of her will into the words and then began to glow and slowly circle around the passed out girl. As they moved Levy's writing began to appear as if shielding the girl.
"There, if there was something tied to her it's broken." She turned towards Ted with her hands on her hips. "Just so you know, when she wakes up she can step right through that. It doesn't keep her in there."
Re: [Action]
Ted cocked his head like a confused dog at Levy's correction of mage phraseology. "...What's the difference?" Trying to read anything into Ted's choice of clothing is a fool's errand. Or is Levy just jealous that he has a super cool invisibility cloak? It's okay; he'd let her borrow it if she asked nicely. "I shall tell you about my voice if you call me 'Robin Hood'; the one who tormented her may be a dark wizard in her own right, and you know what kind of terrible things they can do with true names."
Thank goodness the worst was over with. Unless Pidonus barges in and they have a fight on their hands. Wrestling women is something Ted finds very distasteful. "That was fast! Good work." He was, again confused when Levy explained her newfound liberty. "...did you wish to? Granted I haven't worked out the details of her safekeeping, but it would be strange to grant her freedom and then confine her here." That was a thorny issue in its own right; obviously, Pidonus wouldn't be happy, and Konoka didn't seem the type to steer clear of her either.
[Action]
Levy didn't know if she was expecting him too. She signed softly and then nodded her head. "Okay, I'll wait for her to wake up or would you rather talk to her?"
No, Levy wasn't calling him Robin-hood and she isn't even going to recognize that he mentioned that.
Re: [Action]
1. Capture Konoka
2. Break the enchantment
3. ???
4. Profit!
Okay, so Ted's still trying to fill in step three, but that one probably depends on Konoka's input anyway. "I'll leave the outpatient talk to you." Given her relationship with Lucy, Ted figured her for a better diplomatist when it came to women with a screw loose. "While you two work out the details of her life going forward, I'll keep watch as planned." He stepped out the door.
And stepped into it again. "I almost forgot; now that she's free I trust we can expect the truth and nothing but the truth. Will you ask her if her captor really did save her? If so, perhaps we can exercise some leniency towards whoever got her into this mess." Now he'll keep watch, invisible as before.
[Action]
Konoka's eyes opened slowly, and she found herself staring at... a lot of words, words flickering by like a magical ticker screen. She rose up to a siting position, and she could feel the magic as it passed by her body. But...
"Where am I...?" She asked, trying to get a better bead of her surroundings. It was still taking her a while to remember what happened, thanks to the seeming non-urgency of the situation, but it will come to her momentarily.
[Action]
"You're in my book shop." Levy smiled. "I'm sorry. I don't know everything that's going through Ted's mind but he wanted to help you. Said you were enchanted. Are you feeling alright? Can you stand?" She didn't know what Ted did to make Konoka fall asleep.
Re: [Action]
Konoka shook off the cobwebs in her mind. She remembered locking up for the night, finding out her water was drugged and then--
Her eyes shot open in a panic, now realizing that she was waking up somewhere else. Fortunately, Levy had been right there, and explained her appearance right away. "Oh! Umm... Ted? Who's..." That also took a moment, but that clicked too. "Oh, that man who thought I was a villain! He dragged me here?" Konoka shook her head. "That seems a little extreme..."
Konoka attempted to stand, and succeeded... albeit on slightly shaky legs. It took her a moment to orient herself.
Re: [Action]
The Succubus was glaring at Levy intently, but didn't say anything more yet, preferring to let the mage explain things first. She wasn't armed, nor did she look ready to immediately cast anything.
[Action]
"Let me help you." She stepped next to the girl and offered a hand to help her stand. She then looked back to Pidonus. "Sorry but I don't know all the details. Konoka was brought here but I don't know how."
She had her guesses now.
[Action]
She was on edge... for multiple reasons. She didn't feel anything in the back of her mind, mentioning her anymore, but she couldn't shake the feeling that the situation could deteriorate very quickly.
Re: [Action]
Pidonus glared directly at the bag of spores Ted had left - not that she knew it was Ted who was responsible for leaving those yet. "Suffice it to say, I'm very suspicious of your motives in all this, for obvious reasons. However, I'll give you fair chance to explain yourself. Just, don't try to lie, okay?"
[Action]
But that sounded too sharp, and Konoka paused from her delivery. She took a moment to calm herself. "Levy-han said someone named Ted was responsible. I don't really know what's going on."
[Action]
All of which was true.
Re: [Action]
Then, she looked towards Levy. "The crazy ex-Guardian, I presume, is who she's speaking of? And I'm guessing you're trying to have... Oh, what was the phrase in Nova... Plausible deniability towards his behavior in this?"
