[When the video starts Jaune just looks tired. Tired and aggravated, and it's apparent in his voice.]

I can't believe I have to say this, but since there's nothing stopping people who have committed murder here from running for City Guardian, apparently I do. You shouldn't vote for actual murderers like Reiner Braun and Roman Torchwick unless you like the idea of trusting an entire city to someone who either admits they murdered someone and does a bad job of even showing any regret or someone who's questionably claiming they're redeemed after...a few weeks? Even if he does claim he's trying to make up for his mistakes, you don't just suddenly lose all of your bad habits like criminal acts in a short amount of time and try to take on that kind of position without an ulterior motive.

This whole thing is stupid. It's stupid. I'm done talking about it. Just...if you want to know more about the crimes they committed while they were here, I can answer your questions. I doubt I'll convince other murderers unless they want the position for themselves.

I was hoping too much eyeliner was the highest of his crimes.

[ It was meant to be a joke, but his tone was much too somber to come across properly. It was just the first thing that popped into his head, really. This was exactly the kind of thing he hated hearing about, but he couldn't just ignore it and pretend there wasn't a problem. ]

The past always matters, rather it happened here or not. [ He paused. ] I'm sorry about your friend.

[ He hesitated, unsure if he should keep going -- but he had questions and the kid had answers. Not many people in Genessia seemed to. ]

The other guy is just as bad I'm guessing.

No. He has a lot of crimes like that. I could tell you, but I get the impression he'll take any kind of attention, even if it's negative.

[It's his nice way of saying Roman is an attention whore. And the amount of done he is with him makes it harder for him to keep feeding into that anger. Even if it's there.]

It's... I'm glad she doesn't remember, in a way. Even if that makes it harder for other people. That shouldn't be her responsibility. It's not her fault.

Reiner's a murderer. He's got some twisted logic that makes him think he can protect an entire city despite having murdered someone I work with. It hasn't even been four months since he committed his crime at most. I don't know what his goal is, and I don't really care.

And here I thought I'd finally met someone with decent fashion sense that wasn't completely evil.

[ Again, another completely dry joke. He wasn't sure how to take any of what he was learning. It was like Maine all over again. ]

You're right. She shouldn't have to bear that kind of burden.

[ He exhaled and pinched the bridge of his nose. ]

Is there anyone running that's actually qualified and not homicidal?

Roman and fashion sense? [Jaune looked incredulous. His style always struck him as overly flamboyant and stuffy at the same time. But this was the guy who thought bunny onesies were the classiest thing ever. Besides Weiss.]

For Attleton? I don't know. I don't know much about the other two candidates, which could be a good thing or it could just be the calm before the storm. Fai's okay, Satori's not...evil, just kind of creepy with her doll army, but creepy doesn't always equate to evil. Blaine's a great person though, he's really selfless and together, so I'm voting for him.

[ He shrugged. Jaune needed to take a closer look at who he was talking to. ]

Doll army?

[ That... sounded really uncomfortable.

He didn't know any of the names the blond mentioned until he brought up Blaine. They were thinking of the same one, right? Blaine didn't seem bad, but Jefferson hadn't taken him for the type to take on too much responsibility either. Then again, they'd only spoken in person once. He really didn't know all that much about the guy. ]

Huh. Blaine's actually running? He was one of the first people I met here. Haven't seen him since, though. [ Which was kind of weird. ] You're friends I take it?

It's a real thing. I mean, I understand why, because it helps take care of less dangerous criminals while they go after the Hands of Decay--that's a dangerous group in Fayren that thinks magic has to be stopped, and they've used violence to try to stop it, but it still reminds me of those creepy movies where dolls try to kill people.

It surprised me too, but I'm glad he found something he can be passionate about. I think he's just been busy. Being a funeral director or former one probably doesn't leave you with a lot of time. [He smiled, which felt a little strange because he hadn't been doing much of it lately. Even the exhaustion didn't overwhelm all of the Blaine-worship in his eyes.] Yeah, he's cool and...actually takes what I say seriously. Or pretends to. Even if he's just pretending, he sounds sincere. That's something.

I feel like I'm missing a lot. Why would they want a world without magic?

[ He'd been to one of those. It was kind of awful.

The idea of Blaine being passionate about being an elected Guardian almost made him laugh. Either the kid was blinded by hero worship or Blaine had a side to him that Jefferson had yet to discover. Either way, amusing. ]

Is being taken seriously a problem you have often?

I don't know, I guess because they think it's dangerous. Some people got hurt by magic and now they think that excuses their goal to murder every single mage in Fayren. They need to be stopped, before more people get hurt.

You know, forget I said anything. Everyone takes me seriously. Because they should. Jaune Arc is a very serious huntsman.

[ He looked bothered by the thought. While he possessed no magic of his own, he knew those who did. He also knew that magic in of itself wasn't purely good or evil. It was more neutral than anything else, he had come to decide. It was like all tools in that it could be used to benefit either side of the chess board. ]

Then the problem isn't magic. It's whoever used it improperly.

[ The use of the word "huntsman" took his thoughts in another direction. ]

Is he? [ Jefferson raised an eyebrow. ] What is it this Jaune Arc hunts?

That can be hard to narrow down. It's just an excuse to be violent and hurt people. The why doesn't matter. It's about knowing. [well...it sounded a lot more profound when Pyrrha said it. probably because it actually made sense in context.] I mean it's about what they're doing.

Originally it was supposed to be Grimm. They're like monsters, basically. Now it's bad guys, I guess. I'm kind of just facing things as they come.

I get the feeling that things sound a lot smarter in your head before you say them.

[ There was a little bit of truth to that, but he was mostly just teasing the kid. Things were getting a little heavy for his taste. ]

Monsters of what sort? [ He raised a brow. ] Rolling with the punches isn't always bad.

You have that problem too?

[That's like. His whole life right there.]

A lot of them look like giant nightmareish versions of regular animals. Like a Deathstalker looks like a mutated giant spider with an elongated body and stinger. As if spiders weren't disturbing enough. No, it beats...not rolling.
