8th Book | Video/Action

[Belle had found herself waking up in hospital. Seemingly confused the young brunette slowly shifted herself, making sure that she was sitting upright and in place. She had no idea how she got here. Last thing she remembered was a whiteness. As she sat there, looking around still slightly confused, trying to wrap her head around where she was or how she got there.

Slowly she moved, getting off the bed only to realize that her looks she was perfectly normal. Nothing is missing, nothing is bruises of cut or anything. It was enough to make her wonder if the whiteness had something to do with dying? And when she came back everything was reset?

With that thought trailing in her mind she had managed to pick up what was set to the side before eventually being able to go. As she walked, her hands started to play with the phone. She figured she should say something and once she gets home in the sub archway, she finally decides to switch it on.]

I can't say I know how long it has been since I was gone, but I thought I would just let people know I'm back now. I'm sorry if I worried anyone.

Where are you?

[His voice is tense and the question is quick. Toby doesn't know that people who come back to life arrive at the hospital and he's determined to find her now.]

I'm back home.

[She hadn't told anyone she was back until she felt safe at home. However she still sounded a little worried. But it was mostly because of where the sub archway was located.]

[Toby realizes, as he's walking out the door, that he has no idea where Belle lives.]

Where is that?

[He's trying not to sound annoyed but he's so worried that his tone is sharp and hard to control. He'd seen what that freak had done to Cas and he doesn't want that one anyone.He hadn't really known he cared either.]

Ah, Fayren. Subarchway to Storybrooke.

[Which she wasn't very comfortable being at, but there were things here she still needed, even if she was more than a little worried.]

I'm coming.

[It doesn't take him long since he's running and once he slips through the Storybrooke archway he picks up her scent and follows to exactly where she is. Once he arrives he pauses, standing a few yards away from her, suddenly at a lose for words.]

Belle

[She had gone to open the door to her home, seeing that he was close by. She couldn't help but feel happy when she saw him. For some reason she felt a little safer just by him standing there.]

Hey, I was about to make some tea. WOuld you like some?

[Toby doesn’t answer her. He takes a long single stride towards her and wraps his massive arms around her shoulders. He’s awful with words so he isn’t even going to try to say too much. He doesn’t want her to have to pretend to be strong or pretend that nothing happened. It won’t ever go away that way.]

I’m sorry.

[He whispers the words and if she begins to struggle he’ll pull away and plant himself back near the door.]

[She had been planning on move toward the kitchen when she felt his arms wrap around her shoulders. She was surprised and didn't know what else to say. Pausing, her eyes were looking toward the ground.]

Don't say sorry. You have no reason to.

Maybe.

[He whispers the words softly, keeping his shoulders still and his head bent over.]

I know what it's like.

[Toby's voice is even lower than before.]

I'd ask if you're okay but I think I can guess the answer. Do you need anything?

[ She saw the video. Not talking about it is probably the best solution unless Belle brings it up, but she can still offer whatever she needs. ]

[She frowned slightly, she knew it was just the two of them, so she knew he didn't need to lower his voice. But then again she had felt safe in this sub archway before, but that thing happened.]

You know what, what is like?

Right now. Maybe figuring out what would be good security.

[Because she was starting to feel uncomfortable in her own home. Though it was making her wonder if she should move or something again.]

[Toby finally relaxes his hold around her shoulders. He inhales the musty scent of the shop mingled with the dry aroma of tea leaves. He forces his shoulders to relax and his expression to become passive.

He doesn't talk about his past often.]

I know what it's like to feel that sort of pain and to do that sort of things to others. [Torture.] I'm not good Belle.

[She frowned slightly, does he see himself in such a way. She didn't see that, instead she had seen something else.]

You say that, but yet I've not seen you not be good.

[Toby shakes his head, running his fingers through his hair. He's trying to be better but even here it's difficult. He's been trained and there are instances where he can't control that. He doesn't want to tell Belle what he does when he goes to the woods in Everglade, he doesn't want to tell anyone.]

Probably not. [He's made sure of it.] But that doesn't mean I'm a good person Belle.

[Toby inhales a slow breath before speaking again.]

For the last twenty years I did things like that sick fuck. I hurt and I killed. [He stares at her with a guarded expression.] Don't try and convince me I'm something other than I am.

[He's here to make sure that she's okay. Not anything else.]

[Belle had figured to go and get some sort of drink ready. So turning on her heels she headed toward the kitchen.]

I knew someone who did terrible things, but I still saw they had some good in them. It's something I like to believe.

[Her fingers trailed the counter when she reached the room, before going to reach the cupboard to grab a couple of cups.]

[Toby takes a few steps across the room though he keeps a considerable distance between himself and Belle. Having a counter between them seems to help because he takes a few steps closer, watching her movements.]

You might fool yourself Belle but true natures don't change.

[It's finding out what that true nature is that's usually the hard part. Though for Toby it's easy. He's a predator; a wolf.

Toby continues to watch her, his eyes flickering as if the wolf is seeing out of them.] You shouldn't hide from reality Belle. [His voice is softer though it keeps his usual blunt tone.]

I'm not hiding from reality.

[She just had her beliefs, things she liked to believe to be true. She had hope. Even if right now hope was a little shaky for her.]

But I believe people can change, even if you don't agree.

[Toby rolls his shoulders in a shrug and continues to keep his distance as she prepares them tea. He can't make her talk to him but he can't help but want to do something. He wishes Clay or someone far better at this was here.]

Then how do you feel?

[As blunt as ever.]

After what he did to you.

[The word 'he' forces Toby to clench his fist, as if he's holding himself back from lashing out at something.]

[She paused as she looked at the kettle that was boiling. She was wondering why he needed to bring that up. She was as fine as she could be at least. She just needed time to be fully okay.]

I feel fine, though if you bring it up again, I won't be.

Do you want me to leave?

[He’s here to talk about it but if she’d rather not he’ll go. Toby understands that he’s often more trouble than anything else.]

[ She wants to offer Belle a place to stay. Liv knows that she can probably handle keeping her safe- it's hard to kill a zombie, which would mean it would be hard to get through her. But there's a lot of risk involved. For one thing, Blaine. For another, fresh brains in the fridge. ]

That guy was, what? Was he human or a magical creature or what? They've got some stuff in Everglade to act as wards if he's something beyond human. To catch all those people I'm kind of hoping he would have to be.

[ Because otherwise that means he managed it without a special advantage. ]

[She had already finished making the tea before looking over.]

I just made tea, so unless you want it to go to waste, then not right now.

[Plus she didn't really want to be left alone.]

Then what do you want Belle?

[He studies her curiously before looking down at the tea. He doesn't hate tea but he isn't used to drinking a lot of it.]
