Who: Yuri Nakamura, Battler Ushiromiya
When: 4/1
Where: Riverplace Square, Battler's apartment
What: Yuri asked Battler to give her a break for a while, and he's been a good boy for a couple of weeks now so.. she's faking having a salt emergency as an excuse to say hi.
[ It'd been a little over two weeks since they'd last spoken. She'd finally been able to be honest with him about why she kept either freaking out at him or beating his face in every time they'd talked and asked him to stay away for a while. She felt horrible about it for a couple of days, but after that.. it started to feel better. Yuri knew he was next door the whole time, it wasn't like he had left, but it gave her a chance to just relax and focus on figuring things out on her own. She'd been a very independent person for a long time, spent years not relying on anyone until she'd finally let others in. She needed to reconnect with herself for a while instead of just letting her drama with Battler affect her constantly.
It worked. Even if she had some reservations still, she finally got to the point where she didn't feel constant anxiety about going and talking to him. You know, except when she thought about what excuse she was going to have to talk to him. Because honestly, the problem with not seeing someone for a while was that you had no idea what to talk about and she didn't just want to straight-up say "Hey I don't know if I'm 100% okay but hi how are you?" That was stupid. She couldn't tell him that she missed him either, god forbid, that would be too embarrassing.
Which meant that she had to do something neighborly. And neighbors asked each other to borrow ingredients right? So what if she didn't know how to cook and had been eating out most of the time since she'd gotten here? Yuri went and grabbed the salt shaker and ran out to the tiny balcony to pour the salt out. The entire thing. Okay, empty salt shaker. See? She needed salt. After that was taken care of, Yuri went to go change into a dress and tie her hair up with a ribbon. She didn't exactly have her old one anymore, but she still felt comfortable with some kind of headband on. ]
All set.
[ The plan was perfect. Yuri left her apartment, making sure to lock up even if she was only going next door, then went over to knock on Battler's door only a few feet away with the empty salt shaker in her hand and her eyes narrowed.
Though really 'knocking' was more like pounding loudly enough that she probably sounded like she was the police about to bust into his house. ]

he knew he wasn't supposed to talk to or even look at her, so of course he's mostly been staying inside. sure, he's gone out and interacted with plenty of people but he felt the best when he was inside and writing his stories. he knew he had to write them while everything was still fresh in his mind, while he had the peace and quiet to write. sure, yuri was constantly on his mind as well, but he got by with his writing.
just when he was in the middle of writing a sentence, specifically the part where he had been searching the books on that island for occult symbols, he heard a knock on his door. no, it was more like loud banging. he jerked, surprised, and then exhaled slowly.]
Coming!
[battler stood, making his way over to the door, opening it. never did he think he would be greeted with yuri's face, honestly.]
Wha.... Yuri! H-hey!
no subject
I'm out of salt.
[ That was easier to focus on at first then the fact that she decided to come over. They could deal with that in a second once she finished making her declaration of 'this is clearly the only reason I'm here' no matter how obvious it was that she wasn't here for salt. ]
no subject
[she's... just here for salt, right? right.]
Here I can show you. [battler is already stepping front of her, going with her towards the kitchen.]
no subject
[ Still, she doesn't stop him from stepping in front of her. If he's in front of her he's not looking back at her and he won't be able to see right through her. Yuri knows that Battler knows her too well to not recognize her expression: slightly pissed off, avoiding his gaze, and looking slightly abashed about whatever is happening. It's the look of a girl who misses him and came up with a plan stupid enough to involve a salt shaker. ]
no subject
but whatevs. battler is already in the kitchen, reaching for the salt shaker. he grabs it and turns towards her, holding it out to her.]
Here, you can just borrow this-... I um, I needed to go out and get salt myself.
[BUT HEY AT LEAST HIS SALT SHAKER IS FULL.]
I've been a little preoccupied you see.... I'm currently writing all of the stories from my times on Rokkenjima.
[and why yes, he does notice her expression. he had a feeling that was the case when she came in here, but he didn't want to draw attention to anything like that right now. she was actually here, visiting him...]
I'm nearly done the first story. I call it, Legend of the Golden Witch!
no subject
She nearly decided to say something about why she came over, but he started talking about his stories. It was an easy escape, something easier to focus on, so Yuri wouldn't hesitate to take it.
Besides, she was genuinely interested in reading everything. Hearing things from Battler's perspective, hearing the full story.. That was something she had always wanted to know. All the things she could never ask because of those rules that he'd set up. One of the many, many things she wasn't allowed to know about him.
..At the very least, she wanted to know it before everyone else did. ]
Can I read it?
no subject
Ihihi...! You can you can! However, let me finish it first, okay? I'm nearly done, almost at the part where I died! Yup yup, then suddenly Beato showed up and I challenged her to the games...
Actually... we started talking after the first game ended, right? Hm...
no subject
[ She put her hands, firmly stating the next words. Battler's not getting out of this one. ]
Give me the first part, I can read while you finish. You're going to need an actual editor so you'll probably have to give it to someone who isn't me so I want to read it first.
no subject
Fine fine.... I'll let you read up until the first twilight, okay?
[there's a lot of introducing and mingling going on before everyone dies, that's for sure. he's walking out of the kitchen, heading into his bedroom.]
I have it on my desk!
no subject
This is clearly a prime time to explore Battler's house. Yuri moved away from the kitchen table and went over to his fridge, holding her hand on the fridge door handle for a few moments as she contemplated going through his things. Honestly, whatever was in here was probably better than anything she'd been eating since she got here.
Or possibly just mackerel.
Either way, opening the fridge was in no way going to make her anything but upset, so she loosened her grip on the fridge door and went to go climb up on a counter to get to the taller cabinets that she couldn't necessarily reach otherwise. Stupid tall people.
This all lead to an incident involving a rag that she didn't realize was on the sink. Yuri slipped on the rag, immediately falling backward and rather suddenly while Battler is in the other room, he will hear the loud cracking of wood and a yelp from his girlfriend.
She'll be fine, just a sore and bruised up with a few scratches, but the table?
Uh. Not so much. ]
no subject
the redhead came running out of his room, his manuscript ditched and still on his desk, and what he saw just made his furrow his brows in disbelief.]
Yuri, you....
[SHE BROKE HIS TABLE?! ....oh wait.] -Ah, hey are you okay?!
[he dashes over to her, grabbing her arm and slowly helping her up.]
no subject
[ She lets him help her up though, making a face while she rubs her butt and back. Honestly, that was not the most fun she's ever had. ]
I'm fine, you're the one who's mental for leaving a rag on the counter.
[ Yuri, you're the only one who would climb on the counters to snoop around Battler's house. ]
no subject
Hah?! Hold up, you're the one that slipped on it! How was I supposed to know you were going to climb up!
[but okay, he's looking her over to make sure she's okay too. totally glancing over to look at her rubbing her butt, mhmm! JUST TO SEE IF IT'S ALL GOOD.]
no subject
Uhg, it's not coming out. She wanted to ignore the accusations of her being incredibly stupid anyway, so she just decided to ask the inevitable. ]
Do you have a bandaid and tweezers?
no subject
battler laughs a little, taking her wrist and pulling her away from the table. he points at a chair, gesturing for her to sit.]
I'll go get them.
[and he disappears. my oh my, this is a lot like the time when he was injured and she sat and patched him back up. he's smiling to himself about it as he goes to get what she asked for.
and he returns momentarily, tools in hand, and pulls up a chair to sit in front of her.]
Don't worry, I'll do it. [battler places a hand on her leg, bending over in his seat so he can get a closer look at the injury.]
no subject
When he comes back, she ends up lifting her leg up and putting her hands beneath it so she can hold it up and he doesn't have to bend down so much. It's just Battler, so she doesn't especially mind her dress. ]
I've been so much less coordinated since.. you know. I think she was in a sports club of some kind, but it definitely wasn't anything that developed the same muscles and balance I had before.
[ Even though she'd brought up being brought back, she didn't sound as horrified by it as she had before. She'd had some time to herself, she sounded more neutral about it now. ]
no subject
[he didn't know what else to say about that. he knew that she was in another body, that it wasn't hers that she was used to, and he was to blame for that. her talking about it made his stomach do flips, he already felt guilty enough about it as is.
battler grabbed her leg though, choosing to simply remove her shoe and place her foot on one of his legs so she could rest it while he looked at where that splinter was. he placed his hand on her leg, seeing just where she was injured.]
You think you might be able to get used to that in time? [it was a simple enough question, he knew, one that hopefully wouldn't cause her to freak out. he was learning, that much was certain, knowing just what he should be saying instead of something that could start a fight.]
no subject
She didn't try to pull away, letting him arrange her as necessary so he could fix her up. ]
I get used to everything eventually. I'm pretty adaptable.
[ She didn't used to be, but she certainly is after everything she's been through. Yuri leaned forward a little, folding her hands underneath her lifted leg and keeping an eye on Battler's face. ]
no subject
Ah- sorry sorry, did that hurt?
[he now had the splinter between the tweezers, and battler glanced over at her.]
I was trying to be as gentle as possible.
no subject
Of course it did, stupid. Are you going to clean it too? [ Alcohol swabs might be a little worse than a sword. Maybe. ]
no subject
[battler leaned over to the first aid kit he had brought with him, placing the tweezers in there. he grabbed one of the alcohol swabs and tore open the plastic around it.]
After this, did you still want to look through my stuff or did you want to read what I wrote?
[he still can't believe she did that.... either way, as he asked this question battler placed the alcohol swab on her wound, dabbing at it lightly and holding her leg in place with his other hand. he knew it would hurt either way.]
no subject
A bit of a hiss through her teeth later, then she just tried to speak like normal. ]
You can bring what you wrote over for dinner tonight. I broke your table, I owe it to you.
no subject
[he was mostly teasing her, but she also had enough to worry about so he decided to back off instead of pressing her further. battler nodded, guiding her leg down and back on to the proper ground before going to throw away the alcohol swab. he walked over the remains of the table, tossing the swab into the garbage.]
Or I could, who knows! I'm not the best chef in the world, but I know a thing or two at least! What have you been eating?
no subject
[ Judging by her answer to what's for dinner, it probably answers his question about what she's been eating. ]
I also have toaster waffles, pop tarts, and a lot of fruit.
no subject
Y.....you can't be... aaah are you serious! Yuriiiii! No no that won't do, that just won't do! I'll make us something, it won't be as good as Gohda-san but it will be better than all that!
