at the bay (log, closed)
Who: Genos and Saitama, and then also Koishi!
What: Genos and Saitama wake up. They have company soon after leaving the Bay.
Where: The Bay and surrounding area
When: Late June
Warnings: Nah

Saitama partially-woke with a huge yawn and a big stretch. He tried to roll over in place -- he was used to a narrow futon, after all -- only to almost be choked by his cape trapped under him.
"--Hhk, wha--?" he didn't go to bed in his hero clothes for this very reason!

Just in time to keep Saitama from throttling himself with his cape!
"Sensei!" Genos hurriedly pulled the half-awake Saitama out of the pod and straightened his cape promptly. His incredible and bizarrely invulnerable teacher would be fine of course! But that had to be uncomfortable and Genos wasn't going to stand for that. The box was allowed to settle at the bottom of the pod, away from the water but forgotten for now.

That they were standing in a damp cave hit him a few beats later.
His eyes widened.
"Oh, no!" Priorities, Saitama had them. "How far are we from the grocery store with the chicken thigh sale? That was today --. we're gonna miss it!" There was no way they were still in the right city!

"I'm sorry sensei, it appears we're not even on the same world as we were before." He'd almost set the hologram's base on fire when it popped up but he had listened at least. Somewhat. In passing. He was looking for Saitama at the time! "From what I gathered from pamphlets over there-" He pointed to the platform out of the water. "-there are many different places here. I'm sure there will be other sales here!"
He remembered the box and moved past Saitama, once he was sure he was steady, and scooped up the box. "We even have some money as a sort of starting package for arriving here."

Saitama stepped gingerly around in a circle, observing the cave they were in. "Did we... did we get abducted by aliens, or something?"
Of course, such a possibility wasn't even in the top ten. It was a very serious question, and actually not an improbable one. What if others had followed Boros? If so, why had they taken Saitama and Genos to another world?
He started heading for the platform, steps exaggerated as though that would keep his boots from getting as wet. "Were we both unconscious?"
no subject
"Based on the information provided to us, we have not been abducted by anyone, aliens or otherwise. We have been moved worlds but the mechanism behind it is not purposeful. I do not fully understand it but it has happened to many, many before us. Why us, I am unsure. I can understand why you would end up in such a situation, sensei, but me?" He shook his head, still processing all the information. He took it in stride, but it was still worth trying to figure out the cause.
no subject
He wouldn't do well on a new world by himself, not one bit.
"These 'many, many before us'... are they still here?"
no subject
"Not all of them, I do not believe, but there are plenty of people from other worlds here, yes. Here sensei," Genos said as he offered the box to Saitama. "Inside is information you may want to read and a necklace to wear so that we can travel freely around the various cities open to us. There is also a phone of sorts and some money, should it contain the same things that mine did."
Genos was already wearing his own necklace, looking comically delicate compared to the rest of him.
no subject
He took the money and set the pamphlet back into the box, fishing out the necklace next. Taking a cue from Genos, he put his on, too, though it looked equally ridiculous on his rather simple hero outfit. "This whole thing is so weird."
no subject
"It is simple enough to get settled in one of the cities, if this information is to be trusted." Genos didn't have much choice but to trust it, for now. "I advise we find a place to stay that is similar to what we're used to, so to not end up too disoriented by the transition."
no subject
"So, where should we go?" he got up and 'dusted' his rear off with his free hand, the other holding his box. Then, he started off toward a likely exit. "--Well first, let's get out of this cave... it's depressing. Then where? Got an idea?"

"She is worth listening to sensei." He shut up while the girl was talking, in the hope that Saitama might actually listen to her.
----
"...I found that to be very informative." And overwhelming but he could soak in the dramatic change over time.
no subject
"That was way too long!" he finally burst out when the holograph had finished.

"If you would like sensei, I can search for similar stores and sales as we are used to once we have somewhere to stay." He was, of course, completely serious about this. Saitama would be very unhappy without grocery sales!

Genos's sensors were probably the first things she triggered, though with his human brain and such deeply integrated circuits he still would have trouble seeing her. A mind was a mind, after all, regardless of if the body was organic or a machine.
"Hey there! Can you see me? Heeey!" This might take a minute. She landed, reaching over to tug gently on Saitama's cape. "Hey! Mister! I'm right here. Can you see me yet?"
no subject
Nope, his brain didn't register Koishi yet.
"Huh, something's tugging on my cape...?"
no subject
"Show yourself," he barked, any friendliness in his tone long gone.
no subject
She furrowed her brow, focusing, trying to exert her presence more strongly. With her drawing enough attention to herself she'd probably come into focus quickly.
"Ah! I'm sorry Mister! That's really warm and bright. I didn't mean to startle you. Please put it away. I'm sorry!"
She was such a tiny thing! Barely 4 feet tall with glowing eyes and a stylish hat. A blue eye-like sphere floated by her, connected to her ankles by two long, looping cords. She was currently peeking around from behind Saitama, still holding onto his cape.
no subject
He glanced back up at the cyborg.
"Genos, it's okay. It's just a kid."

She finally let go of Saitama's cape, straightening up. The sphere bobbed a few times, the artery over her left shoulder twisting into a heart. "Hello there! My name is Koishi Komeiji! I'm a satori youkai!" If either of them knew anything about Japanese folklore then they might recognize it. "You don't have to be scared of me though. I can't read minds anymore."

She certainly didn't look human. Between her glowing eyes and her strange unseen nature, there was something inhuman about her. And she clearly held a good deal of power. She drifted forward again, floating higher so she was more at eye-level, looking from one to the other and back.
"You're some of the only people who knew what a satori youkai was right away. It makes me really happy to know that legends survived long enough for humans to invent metal arms and other neat things."

And watch a lot of anime, and... well, he was a slacker. Hero for a hobby.
Case in point, he hadn't even gotten to his feet! He unfolded his legs to let them jut out in front of him and wiggled his feet. Were his boots drying? He hoped so.
"And Genos reads my manga when he thinks I'm not paying attention. Oh! I'm Saitama, by the way."
no subject
"Youkai are myths- supposedly- but mysterious creatures similar to you aren't uncommon where we came from," Genos supplied, unable to keep himself from providing questionably useful information even when he was still on edge. "Do monsters appear here frequently?"
no subject
"And I dunno." She looked at Genos, straitening her hat again. "Monsters are common in a lot of places. But I wouldn't know anything about your world. "She reached down her shirt and withdrew a pendant similar to Genos' and Saitama's own. "In my world, all the spirits and monsters have their own little pocket dimension. That's where sis and I lived. Now we live in Fayren. It's really nice too!"
no subject
Reminded of the boxes' existence, Saitama reached over for one of them. "Hey Genos, was this one mine or yours?" They looked identical!
no subject
Not a place Genos was interested in. Would he even work there...? He could worry about that later, he had another question for the girl and turned his sharp gaze back to her.
"Did you mind 'breaking' have anything to do with your arrival here?"
no subject
She blinked and focused on Genos when she was addressed once more. "Umm... Oh! No no. You've got it all wrong. I pulled my own mind reading out. See?" She reached up and removed her hat revealing a very old scar above her left temple. It was just larger than a quarter and was slightly depressed into her head as if she were missing some bone. In fact, even the hat she was wearing was created with the injury in mind and had been designed slightly lopsided in order to cover it more and protect it.
"It was kinda dumb but I didn't want the power anymore. So now I'm rippling and swirling unblended in fluid." A riddle perhaps? "But I can control the subconscious mind now instead. I like that power better. That's why I was invisible before! Sometimes I'm hard to notice."

Once he was done fiddling with the phone, he lifted it and pointed the camera up at Genos. "Genos, look over here and smile!"
Whether he did or not -- click!

"Sensei, what-?"
no subject
"Ohhh~ Are we taking pictures now?" She pulled her camera out of her pocket. "I was gonna go get some food, but pictures are good too!"
no subject
He blinked up at Koishi. "Sure, why not? Do you fool phones too?" Experimentally, he aimed the camera at her. Click!

"We shouldn't linger here long sensei."
no subject
And then to Genos. "There's nothing bad here, but we don't have to stay here either. I can help you out if you like. I know where everything is. I've been here for two winters already."
no subject
He glanced up at Genos and tipped his head a little to one side. "What's wrong, Genos? If something shows up to attack us, I'll just punch it." That would take care of that!
no subject
"That's true..." He looked away, clearly displeased. "We do need to know the surroundings sensei and she has offered to show us. It would be prudent for us to ask about important locations while we have the chance."
no subject
"And you don't have to worry about being attacked. Miss White used to have me patrol around for people who hurt others." She puffed out her chest. "So I still do that and the mean criminals are still frightened of me. Also, it's not really dark. So they won't bother us."

She waved both of them in a direction and began floating that way. "Come on. What would you like to see first?"
