[Smoker's not sure how much he believes any of this, it all could be an elaborate plot by one of the pirate emperors on one of their islands further on the Grand Line, though, he very much doubts any of them would be foolhardy enough to kidnap him, and still leave him a pair of seastone cuffs and his jitte. And if it was Kaidou, there's no way X Drake would leave Smoker running free and unhindered. But any of the Emperors usually felt most secure on their own islands, surrounded by their own people, so it could just be arrogance to sell the illusion. Still, whether fake or not, best to play along for now until he could prove otherwise.]

[And the best way to get information? Was to ask as bluntly as Smoker ever did. You'd be amazed at what pirates would give away if you just asked.]

He doesn't even remember being in Alabasta, however. And the only other person from our world he's mentioned here is someone I'd rather avoid, and I'm sure that feeling is mutual.

I... Cannot say any of what you said has any meaning to me, but I have heard that sometimes those who arrive here come from different times than others, even if they originally came from the same world. It could have something to do with that.

As far as I know? Yes, and for certain yes. I was born with my magic, though I did not awaken to it until I was older. It was inherited from my mother.

There's no... magic in our world. Devil fruit powers are the only way to really get abilities like ours. Portgas and I are both logia users.

[Glances at Ace on the floor....]

I do not think I understand what you mean by Logia, but it is through Devil Fruit powers that you get abilities there?

Yeah, right. There's three types of devil fruits. Paramecia, like his little brother Straw Hat has, it made him rubber. Zoans, like Marco the phoenix has, and logia, what Portgas and I have. He can turn into fire, I can turn into smoke.
