[Smoker's not sure how much he believes any of this, it all could be an elaborate plot by one of the pirate emperors on one of their islands further on the Grand Line, though, he very much doubts any of them would be foolhardy enough to kidnap him, and still leave him a pair of seastone cuffs and his jitte. And if it was Kaidou, there's no way X Drake would leave Smoker running free and unhindered. But any of the Emperors usually felt most secure on their own islands, surrounded by their own people, so it could just be arrogance to sell the illusion. Still, whether fake or not, best to play along for now until he could prove otherwise.]

Chivalry and justice are time immortal.

It seems there's a lot more bounty hunters than actual bounties here. I can't say I'm used to that. My brother in arms, Dadi, turned bounty hunter for the freedom of time restriction. I just assumed any kidnapper would have my expertise in mind, but if it's truly coincidence...

Hm...I do agree that there are more bounty hunters than bounties. Perhaps it's merely a glut of good people being kidnapped rather than bad. THough if you're looking for more stable source of employ, I'd definitely say try law enforcement or the like.

[Or getting a job as a retail worker or something...though she doubts Smoker would ever lower himself to that point.]

Depends on what you are capable of and what you can do. Some criminals here are more than just your average point a gun and fire type. Sometimes the bounties include monstrous beasts too.

Everything from creatures of the night, to magical and mystical beasts that would consume your flesh and leave you a zombified corpse to do their bidding.
