Intro / A new Daien Genessia [Video]

[ Micaiah can't say that she was used to this. Granted, the person in the projection she saw had turned out to be helpful enough that she had a basic understanding of what just happened. But there were still unanswered questions, namely why this place was abducting people, and why her specifically?

When the video turns on then, anyone looking would see Micaiah's solemn face. It seemed like she was making her mind up about something, before she gave a smile.]

Hello everyone. My name is Micaiah. I may not have come here of my free will, but while I'm here, I represent the Dawn Brigade.

I can't say that I'm not eager to get back home, considering how very recently my country gained its independence. Has anyone here heard the name of Daien? What about Tellius?

Either way, it seems I will be here for a good while. Where is a good place to stay? I am also hoping that I can provide some sort of service, whether that be through helping those in trouble, or gainful employment. I happen to be at least somewhat decent with light magic and healing, though there are other arts of magic that have interested me.

[ When others looked at her, she had to put on a brave face, as she was more or less a guiding light to the people of Daien, as well as the Dawn Brigade themselves. She hoped they were doing all right without her... but out here? She was a fresh face, and didn't know a soul. What would others think of her, she wondered. Having seen someone with hair whiter than hers while being much younger, she may not be among regular people anymore...]

[Ike has been here for quite some time. In all of that time, he had yet to see somebody from home...until now. Ike had thought that he hadn't minded -- after all, he had made peace with the idea of never seeing Tellius again -- but as he sees Micaiah, he can't help but feel nostalgic.

He immediately sends a video response. He's got a lot to explain to her.]

Micaiah? When did you get here? Where are you?

[He's hoping she hasn't found her way into Fayren quite yet. Not with the Hands of Decay on the loose.]

Huh?

[ She at first blinks at someone actually recognizing her, rather than just restating her name. But a closer look allows her to see the man's features. Blue hair. Mercenary look. Could it be... ]

Do I... I feel like I should know you. Wait, are you Ike?

[ Whoopsie! Guess they're not from the same time period. Micaiah sounds slightly suspicious. ]

Huh?

[Ike has never experienced this occurrence before. It isn't something he's thought about, either. So, he's going to be confused.]

Yes, it's me. You haven't forgotten, have you?

[He starts to sound worried.]

[ Micaiah had a few choice words for him, but bit back after realizing that he talked to her as if he were familiar with her. He also looked confused, not like someone putting something over her. ]

Lets say I did. What would you do about it?

What would I do? What is there to do?

[Ike has never dealt with an amnesiac. So he has no idea.]

I guess...try to find ways to jog your memory? That's honestly all I've got at the moment. Sorry, I don't really know how to handle amnesia.

Well, it seems the Hero of Crimea can't solve all the world's problems, I take it.

[ She does smile, though it's slight and a touch bitter. ]

Then again, I don't have amnesia. You may very well be from a different time rather than place. At least you don't seem to be dishonest, so perhaps our meeting was not quite as sour as it is now.

[Different times. Oh. Well, that would make sense.]

I really hope people aren't saying I can.

[Because he gets irritated with the adulation he gets.]

...Anyway. That makes sense. What's the last thing that happened before you were brought here?

[Ike is just going to be himself for now. He won her respect once, so he knows he can do it again.]

[ Well if there's one bright thing about Sothe not being here, it was that Micaiah wouldn't have ~~Ike stealing him from her~~ to listen to his praises all day. ]

The last thing I remember was raising Pelleas as king.

[Ike does his best to maintain a neutral face -- which, considering this is Ike we're talking about, isn't very hard. So for her, the worst has yet to come. How much should he tell her?]

I come from further down the stream. I'm not really one to talk about fate, but in the end, it felt like fate ended up bringing us together.

We had to face a common enemy, and joined forces. In the end, we won. That's the reason why I knew who you were as soon as I saw your face. And...and why I approached you as though you were an old friend. I'm sorry for the confusion.

[ Indeed, she did not have an easy path ahead, but Micaiah understood that. And at the very least, Ike seemed straightforward and no-nonsense. ]

I can trust your words. It... might take a while for my mind to make that connection, but I don't see anything wrong with what you said.

[ She took a deep breath. ]

I suppose that makes sense. But in the meantime, I need to find some way of living.

[Ike says nothing for a moment. There is nothing for him to say. He doesn't regret his invasion of Daein, and while he does dislike the way Daein's citizens were treated during Begnion's occupation of the country, that was beyond his control.]

Take all the time you need. You have it.

[Ike at least knows that time doesn't pass while they're here. Not that it makes much difference to him.]

Near the Bay is a place called the Welcoming Center. They've got all sorts of information and advice to give you for getting started here -- far more than I can offer. You can find job openings, places for rent, and more. They'll also tell you all about each of the five cities here.

[ She apparently had a lot of places to visit... apparently there would be no shortage of options to make a living. ]

[ As for Ike... well, she won't be able to deal with him just yet, but she'll be able to calm herself soon enough. ]

Yeah. Genessia is the largest, but the other four are no slouches. Fayren is the one that's closest to being like home. It's also where I live.

But...right now, it'd be risky for you to come here. There's a group called the Hands of Decay at large here. Their stated goal is to rid Fayren of magic-users. By any means necessary.

[ Micaiah actually looks pensive for a moment. There was an enemy who despised the use of magic? She dreaded knowing what they had done so far, but she couldn't just sit here and do nothing about it either. ]

I can't guarantee a warning would keep me from visiting, but I will lend any help needed to put a stop to them.

I didn't think it would. I just wanted to make sure you were aware.

[Ike would never forgive himself if Micaiah had been targeted by them while she was unaware. While he has confidence in her ability to fight, he'd very much like to give her every chance to get by as possible.]

If you want to help, I suggest getting in contact with Fayren's city Guardian. They're in charge of protecting everyone in the city. The current Guardian is named Satori Komeji.

[ As much as she wanted to leap into action, Micaiah also didn't feel very prepared. Perhaps she'd need to find some way to get better tomes, first of all! ]

Ike knows you? How fortunate for him; I'm sure he'll be glad. Well, as glad as any stoic can express.

You wouldn't happen to be one true prophet...--ess, in a sea of 400 false ones, would you?

Yes, he's the supposed hero from Crimea from my world. I guess he was taken without a thought here too.

[ She tilted her head on that last question though. ]

Prophet? What do you mean?

Do I! He's been learning me swordsmanship for longer than I can remember. Charging too. Nothing very steep, though I may have to consider some employment soon if I want to stay on. Was Crimea a very lawless land? [Get it? Cause 'Crime'...shut up.]

You know, like an oracle. One who hears the voice of God, and shares it with others. Usually the ruling bodies.

I... expected that.

[ She heard a lot about Ike, but she couldn't honestly expect him to be anything like a villain, even if he messed up Daein in an attempt to overthrow a madman. ]

Would be easier for me if it was. But... life is never really easy.

What gave you that idea?

[ Pay no mind to that bird sitting on her shoulder. Micaiah is a bit on guard for someone to ask such a seemingly random question. There was an empress on her homeland who could hear the voice of the Goddess... ]

You did? Is it common is mercenaries in your world to double as teachers? How fortunate, if so.

It's an interesting story; I thought or hoped there might be some resemblance. It's funny; your type have names very like my world's, though in practice they seem very unlike with all this talk of sorcery like it's common.

If Crimea were lawless and wicked, it would be easier to paint them as an enemy. After all, their beloved hero felled a madman for a king, but thought nothing of leaving the kingdom to a rich and corrupt ally.

[ It takes her a while to figure out what she can actually do with that link, but she does figure it out eventually. The name it leads her to is interesting, to say the least. ]

That is indeed interesting. But it just confirms that you and I aren't from the same world. I would imagine that I would have heard of at least one of them...

Well I suppose the beloved hero can always make a return and get to felling again, heh heh. [it's his idea of a joke]

...Let's not wish for others to be more wicked than they are, however simple it'd make things. Goodness knows there's enough badness already.

I'm glad, at least, that our names are like. Indeed, you have a very good one, for it's a very good question: "Who is like God?" Rhetorical, but none the worse for it.

"None whatsoever; some even believe that this is our home, with all our memories borrowed from those more alien than we. But that's as may be; take it on faith that the need is not so needy, or so pressing. I'm not a Calvinist, but I believe it's safe to say your world is running along as it would had you never left.

While I admire your sense of duty, I have to wonder at your sense of...destiny. Don't you believe things happen for a reason, and that your arrival here might have as good as one as anything? Even if there was no immediate answer, that's the question I would ask.

So this is more like... an out of body experience? I can't say I'm any less confused. But if it's as you say, then I can only hope the me there would do the right thing.

Though... you give me pause to wonder if you're correct. If I'm here for a purpose, then I'd have to find that first before I even dream of going home.

A good hope; let's hope it for everyone's sake too. No, the experience is quite bodily. Many visceral things have happened and will happen, you can count on that. As for purpose, well...this world has a way of simplifying things. You need only think of why you were doing what you were there, and I'm sure you can reason that into doing things here. It's like what Dr. Johnson wrote: "To be happy at home is the ultimate result of all ambition". Any good labor that you did for your home before can surely be done for this temporary home now. Maybe even some new ones!

I have- but only because someone named Ike had already asked me about such a place. I am from Ylisse, however, I'm not too sure you have heard of that place either.

I have a book store that I run with a friend if you are interested, we deal with magical tomes and other books.

Popular? [um....] ....I wouldn't know, I haven't spent much time with him, truthfully. Last we talked was at a beach party.

They are. It's called texting here, but it's when you send a series of messages that you can read on your device.

[ Micaiah actually starts when she first gets a reply, but a combination of curiosity and caution allow her to investigate. She does indeed get instructions to Robin's store! ]

There is someone who runs a bookstore that deals with tomes, which is relevant to my interests. I practice magic, after all.

Ah, a place like that sounds like it suits your needs exactly. Though I wouldn't really know. It just sounds like it is.

I'll be visiting there pretty soon, so with any luck it'll be more than 'sounds like'.
