[Yukiko was quietly standing outside a sub archway. For those who knew her well enough would know which one she would always stand in front of. Fingers lightly touching her chin, she was pondering something.]

I wonder if a wall could be build around it? Then again, I would need to ask...

[Damn it Adachi, it made it harder to get rid of it now he hadn't been around for a good long while. He tortures her from beyond whatever hell hole he was now in. Prison if she could recall.]

I guess one could see if magic works around it as well. That might help stop people from wanting to use it again. But I would need to ask someone to do that...

[She rocked on her heels, letting the thoughts pass her buy. The device had been turned on due to her holding it, but yet at the same time it might have been on purpose as a few seconds later she looks at the feed, not surprised at all and smiling.]

I know it might have looked like I had accidentally turned this on, but I hadn't. I've been wanting to close off this sub archway, but due to the person who paid for it not handing it over to me I can't close it like normal. So I had been wondering if it would be okay if we try and see if we are able to block it off with magic or something. If that is possible of course.

[A pause.]

Also there is something I've been working on the past few weeks as well. It's a clinic that if anyone needs can come to them instead of them having to come to the hospital or something. I'm still working on the basics such as the main head quarters where healers can get what they need before they head off. but if any healers are interested in being apart of this, please let me know.

[He knows exactly which subarchway that is - one that he's been keeping a close eye on ever since the incident with Adachi. Even before he became Guardian he was vigilant about it, and if there was another way to keep people out of it, he'd be all for it.]

Do you have any ideas that might work?

[She shakes her head slightly, arms folded so the device wasn't looking at her face for the time being.]

Sadly no, since we don't know an awful lot about these things. So if we could do a barrier it would have to be somewhat bigger than the actual sub archway.

[He closed his eyes in thought. The technology for the archways was so foreign it was unsurprising that no one really understood it. Still, he would look into it however he could. That subarchway needed to be blocked off.]

I'll have to see if there might be someone who can help. I'm sure there's someone here who's capable of it.

That subarchway needs to be closed. Especially if Adachi might come back.

I've had someone offer to help with a barrier, so that is at least a start.

[She nodded slightly, she knew it needed to be closed, she had been sure it should have the moment Adachi was no where to be seen. But instead she found that she couldn't do anything. It was rather annoying.]

But I agree it does, but we can't do it the normal method.

[Knowing there's someone that's already offered to help was a relief.]

Then a barrier is going to be our best bet for now. Anything's better than nothing.

[It being blocked off would save him some time in the day too so he wouldn't have to dedicate it strictly to going into that subarchway to make sure there wasn't anything going on.]

Let me know when it's ready to go up. I'll want to do a final sweep of the archway to make sure no one's trapped.

[She knew he was worried about it as well, so she wanted to make sure everyone was comfortable.]

[He nods, managing a small smile.]

Thanks for your help. I've been focused on patrolling the subarchway itself, I don't think I would've thought of an outside method of closing it off.

It seems like an outside method is the only option. I had been thinking of what else I could do, but had nothing.

That's quite the ambitious and worthy undertaking you're considering. Many patients often aren't well enough to travel all the way to a clinic, and local doctors aren't always capable of administering the proper healing required.

Will there be a system in place so that healers can be notified by their communicators, and any given healer can respond to the call? Or will it be a bit more scheduled rather than simple emergency care? Oh, I don't think we've been formally introduced yet, my name is Maribelle or Lady Maribelle if you prefer something a bit more formal.

Plus, if a situation like a giant battle were to happen somewhere it's more beneficial for such a thing to get there much quicker.

[She paused briefly.]

That is one of the things I've been trying to think of. I know if we get a call then I'll send a message over the device to every healer for them to respond. It would be easier to find a way to know where all healers are, but that might not be a good idea.

Hmm, I'm afraid I'm rather new here but are large scale battles common here? I thought with the presence of the guardians such a thing would be much less possible... or at the very least I hoped that would be the case.

You have a rather pretty name as well Yukiko... hmm, I feel like I should recognize that name. What do you do in the city? Oh, or are you simply a healer?

[Maribelle had so many different skills that she considered her primary function in battle to be the least of her many considerable assets. However she had to remember that many of these people were commoners who might only be educated in one specific set of skills.]

[Considering what has happened in the nearly two years she's been here, she figured something like that was bound to happen sooner or later.]

As for what I do, I run an inn in Genessia for the most part that is near the Bay.

That is correct. The Amagi Inn is the place I opened for new arrivals and of course others to use.

Aha! I thought it might be! I happen to be a new arrival myself, and am currently staying at your very inn! I must say I am rather grateful for your benevolence of giving a discount to new arrivals. I suspect that when all is said and done, I may become one of the more well off citizens of this city but until then, your inn gives me a certain level of luxury I'm more accustomed to.

Ah, I'm glad that you are happy with staying there. Though my discount I still keep thinking of making it better, or just making it free for a set period.

[Because she wants new arrivals to be comfortable and help them get settled.]

Depends on what you mean by well off. There are some people here who I believe earn quite a bit since they own like three or four businesses. I just wonder where they have all the time to do such a thing.

Oh I don't think giving them free entrance would be a very good idea at all. It's a very kind gesture, but hardly economical. You might get all kinds of riffraff trying to loiter in your inn if you made it free for any reason, and that could seriously hurt your business' reputation. All newcomers come with some quantity of money gifted to them, so a discount is likely the best thing you can do. This way no one starts getting the wrong ideas, and you still manage to make a tidy profit by being the first and best stop for newcomers.

[Maribelle was many things, and a businesswoman was chief among them as a noblewoman. So she felt the least she could do was to give Yukiko the benefit of her wisdom.]

You are looking at a woman who intends to do just that. The key is to start off small like with your business, be skillful in other fields, and find people you can trust to help you keep things running smoothly. In Ylisse I was a court magistrate after serving in the war as a mounted healer. Here, I plan to open a small tea shop and apply myself as a freelance attorney. When I am certain I am capable of managing a business, I intend to create one of the first law firms in this city.

[She took a long smooth sip from her cup of tea before letting out a content sigh.]

That will be just the first step in a very large scale plan of mine. However, once that is achieved, I think I'd like to make a donation to your inn to repay you for the kindness you've shown to myself and others.

It would be a deal only for new arrivals since the amount you get only last for a set time, around a few weeks at best. For those who want to do things like start a business, they would need to be able to save that money in order to get such a thing. Just seems logical to help them to help themselves. I'm not trying to make a profit as I already have more than enough money by not having to pay rent.

You won't need to do that.

That's what investors and banks are for my dear. The amount of money you are given to start is hardly adequate to start a very good business without excessive quantities of hard work. It is your inn however, and I suppose it's not my place to tell you how to run your business. I just hope that the charity you wish to show does not come back to haunt you.

[It's not that she's greedy, she did after all just offer a donation to Yukiko's inn, she simply has plans that would require a great deal of money, and the amount Yukiko is referring to is not so small as to be ignored.]

I know I don't need to, I likely don't need to do a great many things but I would still like to if you will permit me. In the grand scheme of things you are doing a very noble public service by helping these newcomers, and I feel that we business owners need to support each other in such endeavors.

[She has other reasons as well, but they might sound a little too cliche and righteous.]

Miss Amagi, I planned to volunteer my services as a healer for you free of charge whenever I have the time to do so. I thought that was the sort of donation to your cause you were looking for, but I suppose I could also donate the funds to it instead of your inn if that is your preference.

[She wasn't sure how well Yukiko's new project would pan out, and hadn't quite wanted to invest funds into it until she knew... but it was certainly something that Maribelle felt she could throw her support behind.]

I'd like to know a bit more about everything you've gotten established so far. I assume the headquarters will be in Genessia, the central city so that we are capable of going to any of the other four cities when the need arrives?

While that is true, I am also having to work on a headquarters of sorts and to sort out medical supplies and such to put it for those who don't use magical ways of healing.

[She also needed to figure out a way to use there devices to activate if they are near where a situation was going, but she was no programmer, so she knew she would be unable to.]

As for where it will be, that is correct it will be hopefully right in the middle. I just need to check the map and figure out what is there. It was that or instead of one headquarters I could set up small ones around each archway entrance.

Even certain magical means of healing require supplies. My knowledge isn't simply limited to what can be done through magic because even that has limitations, and many plants and herbs still have medicinal use the common man might use.

[Finding them here might be another matter... but perhaps if she opened one of the gates...]

Well... if you do wish to set up headquarters near the archway entrances, my tea shop is rather close to Fayren's entrance while still inside Genessia. It wouldn't be a full time headquarters certainly, but it might be a place medics may stop for supplies.

True, even for me I would need to either take a rest or have something so I would be able to refresh. Though it would mean different things since we all might not use the same method.

[She at least knew she she rested that worked for her.]

Yeah, I can do that. I just need to set the rules to keep everyone out.

Rules? Can you explain it to me?

I'm able to set shields that are then governed by a set of written rules. It has to be specific. For example if I wrote something like: No one can enter. Well, one being a singular person which means if you were let's say two souls in a single body then you aren't technically one. No human has similar pitfalls.

[Hence it takes time.]

Getting the wording right is the tricky part and then comes the magic which closes the shield.

Oh, so it's all about wording. I guess that would take time to make sure you get the right wording correct. Sounds tricky also because of it.

Because there was an incident involving someone I knew back home where he kidnapped people and caused I believe one death. Because of that, people aren't exactly comfortable with having it here, but because said person who caused the problem isn't here anymore...

Well we can't just close it off normally. Plus the payment doesn't matter because he is no longer here.

People get kidnapped an' murdered all the time in the damn city. Have y' seen the bounty boards? Why the hell so much fuss jus' cuz it come through a portal? Ain't there other people in there, too?

Yes, I do those bounties sometimes when I have the time. Sure, there are other methods people use to kill people, but at least with blocking one way, it cuts the possibilities down.

Also no, there aren't people in this portal. Just shadows, creatures who would attack.

You can't knock them down. If it was that easy, I probably would have done it.

That's why the plan is to block from outside the subarchway. As for a backup if someone does enter I'm sure the shadows might attack. But apart from that no backup unless we get someone to do multiple different spells.
