[Funny how one weird encounter could ruin your whole week. Danny had run into that ghost-hunting jerk a week ago, and he was still sulking over the encounter.
Who said ghosts didn't belong in the living world, anyway. Even if he had been 100% a ghost, what was so wrong with staying in the living world? He helped people. He was doing an important job that no one else could do.
And just because he looked like a ghost people thought he needed to move on? Or some such feel-good junk. For all he knew, this guy was just trying to make it sound nice. Maybe he really just wanted to experiment on him like all the other ghost-hunters did.
Well Danny wasn't going to have anything to do with it. Let the jerk try.
He grumbles under his breath and hops a little as he gets ready to take off into the sky for the trip home.]

Eh, why not. Action forever.
[ Adela can't help just saying it aloud, looking to Danny as she's passing by. What Danny might notice as different is that the girl is in a wheelchair now.
... She probably shouldn't ask. The ghost-boy looks like he's in a foul mood, but maybe that's why she should ask?
Agh. Being social is hard. She'll just ask. ]
Is everything all right?
Re: Eh, why not. Action forever.
[Danny notices the wheelchair with concern. ]
Are you okay?

[ At last Adela manages not to grimace when talking about it, but instead she pats the fabric of her left pant-leg - showing just why the wheelchair is necessary. She meets Danny's eye after a beat, ]
I only asked because you seemed a little down, is all. I apologize if I am overstepping my bounds.

[ Apparently it's too much to ask to have a normal conversation with this ghost-boy. Or at least a comfortable one. She ends up looking to the night sky, frowning as she tries to think of an appropriate subject change.
Maybe indulging a curiosity of hers will help... ]
... Is it a lot of fun to fly as you do? If I may ask, that is -- you need not answer if you do not wish to.

There's nothing else like it. Last time I checked I could clock 150 miles an hour, easy.
no subject
[ So fast... She can't even comprehend it, and it shows on her face. ]
I have always wondered admittedly, and I still find myself quite jealous of of you for that.

[ She'll smile at that, because it is a kind offer. She's pretty sure she'd be complete dead weight though.
... Not that she be wouldn't regardless, but... Anyway. ]
Action
So he doesn't notice Danny immediately as he walks through town, wondering what he's going to do with himself or what's going to happen to him.
When he does, though, he gives a double take]
You!
Re: Action

I'm afraid I can't let you do that.
[he pulls Forchetta from her sheath. From the perspective of a ghost it looks like blue fire is waving sofly over it, letting of small globes and winks of an almost white light.
It chimes, too, almost a melody to remind the being of happier days, of rest, of peace, of great things it once tasted, great words it once read.
He approaches the ghost quietly but with confidence, holding the blade steady, pointed straight at the heart]
Re: Action

I don't know where you think you're sending me, but home is the last place it is.

Re: Action

He jerks Forchette back and to the side, perhaps even making a small hole in the shield and meet's the ghost's eyes.
And takes another step back. And a third. This... This isn't...]
What are you?
[It's like a half death and a whole death mixed together. He can't understand it. The kid isn't undead. He isn't unmoored. He seems to be both somehow.Strange somehow.]
How can you be half?
[how does this even exist?]
Re: Action
How had this guy guessed?
But that gets quickly buried beneath stubbornness. So he'd been figured out? So what? His parents weren't here to find out. The Guys in White weren't here.
No way was he going to let this guy freak him out.
He dismisses the shield, allowing it to vanish into a few shreds of ectoplasmic energy.]
You're seriously rude, you know that? How do you think I feel when some weird ghost eating fruitloop tries to stick a sword through me and then calls ma a half?
Action
The ghost's accusing him feels like a deflecting tactic and in either case, Joseph has been insulted by enough of them not to pay any mind]
But you must be. I don't know how but it's the only solution I can think of.
[he slides the sword home and the light and sound disappears]
Regardless of what you are, you're certainly half of something. Or at least not full spirit.
[he thinks]
Is it because you don't know, or are you afraid of someone knowing the truth?
Re: Action
[He wasn't admitting to anything. ]
Action
I apologize for my rudeness. [though he doesn't. Only you catch more flies with honey and there is no point in letting this...this... half ghost know that he's going to be keeping an eye on him.
...Just in case]

Re: action;

[he hadn't met whoever it was sadly, so he was a little confused.]
I assume that means someone who doesn't like the ghosts in Everglade?
action;

[He paused for a moment, he didn't have problems with ghosts really.]
But as long as I've been here ghosts have been a part of Everglade, so I wouldn't ever say that to them. They are like us, just like you are. Your a person with feelings and dreams.
Re: action;
Finally someone gets it.
action;
Get what? That ghosts are people too?
Re: action;

Here you learn a bit more.
[Which he figured was a positive at least.
