Action

[ There was no point in wondering what the hell happened to him, and flailing his arms in panic wasn't going to help him. So Nick made his way for Nova City, and it sure wasn't what he was expecting. It is an amazing place compared to what he experienced back in The Commonwealth, and perhaps this place might have a need for a battered mechanical detective like him.

So he wanders through the streets, with his hands in his pockets, and not a single cigarette left to smoke. Sure, he doesn't need the things, but they seem to be a part of the old detective outfit just like the coat and hat are.

And he lifts his hand out from his pocket, and he goes to tap someone on the shoulder. ]

You don't happen to know where I might be able to buy a pack of cigarettes. Or if I might be able to borrow one. [ Nick figures this might be one good way to start a conversation with a few strangers. ]

I never thought I would say this, but I'm a bit lost here. And I can use a bit of help.

[ Yup, Nick got himself lost in Nova City. The map in his hand is useful, but it is only useful if one is able to remember landmarks. He looks down at the device in his hand, and then his map, and he holds it over the camera. ]

And who designed this place? A small child with a box a crayons? Or an adult who was looking to show off their artistic expression with a bowl of noodles.

[ He moves the map, and he puts the camera up in front of his face as he stands there in the middle of the sidewalk. And he takes in a deep breath of air, and he looks embarrassed about the whole affair. ]

[senji had been minding his own business as well when he felt the tap on his shoulder. he turned around to see who it was, and he was surprised at the sight. some guy with parts exposed? was he a robot? either way, senji just shrugged.]

Don't have any on me, but any old gas station probably have 'em. [senji looks the other man up and down.]

Hey, nice coat.

[ Nick lifts his plastic hand away from Senji's shoulder, but the person looked like someone who knew his stuff. And as much as Nick is willing to pay for his dirty habit, he is sure a place this snazzy won't want burnt money or a fist full of caps. ]

I'll have to take a walk there once I figure out where to find it. [ And there is a smirk, and a tug at his battered trench coat with his skeletal hand. ]

Hey, thanks. And um, nice eye-patch. Sorry, if I'm not talkative. This whole being yoinked from another place, and being plopped down into another is a bit of a dozy.

Heh...! I think my eye patch is one of my best features-! [he thinks it's definitely cool.]

Yeah, that tends to get to people. Some get used to it pretty easily, others.... well, they get pretty depressed about it. Me? Eh... I think this place is kinda boring, but it ain't as fucked up as the place I'm from, so that's a bonus.

Boring? I haven't had a chance to come to an opinion like that one. Though this place is a lot cleaner than the one I came from.

[ Nick continues to look around, and the place looks a lot better than The Commonwealth does. ]

And there's far less radiation to deal with, unless there's something I may have missed.

A lot cleaner...? You lived in a dump back home or what?

[...wait.] Shit- you serious? Radiation? Uh... hold on, you're a robot ain't ya? Didn't think robots would be bothered by radiation....

A dump... That's one good way of describing my living situation. [ Nick points a finger at his head. ] It won't kill me or cause any damage, but sometimes I get a little interference depending on how much I'm exposed to.

[Smoker's a good person to ask.]

[Since he is smoking two cigars at once.]

[And has several bandoliers filled with...]

[Wait for it...]

[More cigars.]

[Yes.]

[Tobacco addiction?]

[He knows that feel well.]

Two blocks down and a left will take you to a good shop. The supermarkets, that's what they call them, are shit. They carry some, but mostly will try to lecture you and sell you something terrible in the form of gum and patches. And some of them don't even let you smoke inside. [Monsters.]

[ So much for finding someone to bum a cigarette from, and Nick looks at the cigars. He never was much for cigars, they remind him too much of some of the scum he deals with on a regular basis.

But calling this fellah scum might end up with Nick being tossed into the trash. ]

Lucky me, I don't have to worry about those things. And why won't they let people smoke indoors? [ His eyes dart upwards to look at the sky, and he smugly says. ] I can get it if this place doesn't see an ounce of rain, and this heat is enough to get to anybody.

[Shrugs.] Health concerns I guess.

Nah, I'm told this place isn't always this hot. Just a seasonal or temperamental thing right now.

Good to know it won't always be like this. And people shouldn't be too worried about their health. [ Nick looks at the cigars, and he takes a deep breath. ] There's other things to be far more worried about that are bad for ones health.

[Noodles? That's certainly a new mental image to ascribe to Nova City.]

I don't know who designed it but where are you trying to go? I might be able to help.

I'd like to find a hotel, so I can get out of this infernal heat.

[ Electronics and heat don't exactly get along. And Nick has taken to finding himself some shade under an awning. ]

And I don't need anything fancy, so any good dive will do me just fine. That and the nearest gas station, so I can try to get myself a pack of cigarettes. [ He leans back, and Nick uses his plastic hand to push up his hat while he looks into the camera. ]

[Levy has to think about his last request since she's never once smoked or needed to know where cigarettes were. Luckily Ronan smokes and she's pretty sure she knows where he buys them.]

I'll text you the address I know for cigarettes... as for the Inn why not just head to Almagi Inn? it should be close and I'm sure Yukiko will be happy to help you out of the heat.

[ Nick is just going to assume texting means writing notes and sending them in the mail. ]

Good idea, and I'll be sure to leave my name at the reception so they can deliver my text to me.

[Levy shakes her head.]

Not like that. Here, wait a second.

[She moves her phone and quickly typed up the address. Once it's sent he'll see the address flash on the screen.]

It's faster like this.

[ Nick peers at the screen, and he looks fascinated by it. And he makes sure to remember the address of the place. ]

I'll be... Heh... Now I'm just going to need to find the place, and see if they'll let a guy without a cent to his name spend a few nights there.

You should have arrived with some money.

[Levy frowns.]

It looks odd but it's the red paper bills in the box that you woke up with.

Don't worry, I didn't throw it out. But money doesn't exactly last forever.

[ Nick digs a hand into his pocket, and he pulls out one of the red bills. ]

And it seems I'm going to need to find myself a job.

Yes but it'll last for a month, two if you can stretch it.

Getting a job won't be to hard, what are you good at?

That shouldn't be too hard. And you might be surprised if I can make it last three months.

As for what I'm good at, or well was good at, I was a detective back home. But I think it'll be sometime before I do the detective work in these parts.

Prior to that, I did lots of the unwanted maintenance work for the city I lived in. And I'm sure, a place like this can use someone who's skilled with machines.

I know someone who owns a detectice business. Why not contact him? His name is Ronan O'Conner.

Right now he works out of a flower shop in Attleton. I know he's planning to get a better office but his space is apparently rent free right now. Otherwise there is space for robotic maintenance in Nova City.

I'll have to look into it once I get myself better acclimated with the place and the people here as a whole. So that is why I was thinking of doing some handyman work, so I might go take a look at this robotic maintenance.

[ Nick looks down at the money in his hand for a moment, and he then stuffs it back into his pocket. ]

That is if they're hiring. But I'm willing to be a bit flexible, that's if this place isn't too uptight with androids, cyborgs, and mechanical men. But there is just something about doing those jobs nobody else seems to want to do.

[Levy's expression softens.]

We all have things that we like. I hope you find yours. If you ever need anything you are welcome to ask. If not on the network I'm usually at one of my book shops.

[ Nick's expression perks up at the mention of a book shop. ]

You know, I still might have to pay you a visit. I am a bit old fashioned when it comes to talking with folks. That and books are a bit of luxury back home.

I'd like that.

[She prefers talking face to face too.]

I have three bookshops so you're welcome to stop by any of them. I'm usually in Fayren or Everglade though. Lately it's been Everglade, I have less employees there.

I think it's good to ask for help sometimes.

[Says the person who is currently refusing to ask for it for something major. But she at least knew to ask for other things if she needed them.]

But I can't say who designed the map. They don't exactly leave there name to it after all.

Hey, I'm all about asking for help and lending out a helping hand when people need it. And in a place this big, and being new, trying to figure things out by asking around doesn't hurt.

[ Nick waves his pamphlet in the air for Belle to see, and he finally goes to stuff it into his pocket. ]

I didn't figure they would. But this place is gigantic, and I feel like I could ware out my batteries if I got myself really lost.

So are you look for a certain place? If you are I could probably help in someway.

[She was just going to keep smiling at least.]

I'm just looking for a place with a wall, and a place to sit. I don't need food or much of anything else.

Do you mean somewhere to live?

Someone told me about a hotel, so there is that. But I'm going to need something a bit more permanent.

Usually people do stay at a hotel to begin with while you search for the right city to live in. One that suits you perfectly. But with searching there is a place to go for that.

Then I'm wondering if there is a city that looks as if a bomb went off in it.

[ Nick adds with a little sass and sarcasm. And he then waves his hand about, and moves to show off Nova City. ]

Because right now I might have someone wondering if I look like I belong in the trash or not. Or well. This place is pretty impressive from where I'm standing.

Nova City is what most people would call the more... futuristic city of all of them as it seems to have things like holograms and that type of thing. It's pretty impressive.

It looks like something out of a comic book.

[ This place will take some getting use to, but Nick will surly adapt to his new home. ]

Or some posters I've seen while in Downtown Boston prior to ending up here.

Well it is like something out of a sci-fi story. But here it's as real as the ground we all walk on.

It's amazing really.

This whole place seems like a sci-fi story, complete with the whole snatching you out of your bed thing.

And that there is where I draw the line at things being amazing.

Well I wasn't snatched out of my bed. But I get your point.

That's one of the few things that aren't great. Being taken from home, loved ones and forced to stay here. While death isn't a permanent thing you tend to lose something in order to come back.

I believe there is a store near by.

[Fai didn't smoke, but he did go into stores often, so he knew of what was there at the time.]

[ Nick is hanging out under an awning with his hat tilted down low, and he looks up take a look at the buildings. ]

Do you mind giving an old bot some directions?

You just go further down that way...

[He points in the direction.]

It's the one with the sign outside that's bright yellow.

Why don't you come with me?

[ It feels odd going all by himself. ]

Sure, I can point it out that way.

[He gestures for the other to follow as he starts to walk.]

[ Nick happily follows, as he takes in all of the sights of Nova City. ]

Thanks. And this is one heck of a city. I never thought I'd live to see a day where I'd walk through a place like this.

It's an interesting place, I must say, in my two plus years of being here it has thrown some interesting things at people.

[He looked over to the side looking out for the sign.]

It is a lot different than things are for me back home, and a hell of a lot cleaner too. Now if I needed to eat, I'm sure I could eat an entire meal on the floor and not get sick.

[ Nick is truly impressed with what he has seen so far. And he is just trying to take everything in as he follows him. ]

Oh, and I didn't quite get your name.

I... wouldn't suggest that though. It's kind of gross.

[He shivered slightly at the thought before stopping.]
