[ his broadcast is the result of unintentional button mashing, his face appearing both upside down and too close to the screen when it's first flipped on. then he's lurching away and dropping the device into the grass at his feet, startled by the screen when it lit up. it gives the network a good, unobstructed view of a man in clothing that clearly belongs to another century. heavy fabrics and leathers with ornate patterns stitched and engraved into them, the hilt of a sword with a bright red scarf dangling from the end, and the curved tooth of a pendant dangling from a thin chord around his neck.
it takes a moment for him to step back up to the device, curiosity overriding fear as he kneels next to wear it has fallen. now his image is sideways and remains that way until he reaches down — hesitantly — to grab it, successfully turning his image upright. ]
What is this? [ he holds it up, above his head, as if illuminating the translucent surface with the sun's rays will offer a better explanation. a thick, distinctly italian accent clings to his voice when he speaks. ] Why— I don't understand. What purpose does this serve?
[ marco gives it a good shake in a poor attempt at jostling answers free. had he not ran from the sudden appearance of weiss schnee's hologram or taken a moment to read over the pamphlet he stuffed into his belt, he'd have a better idea of what this was, nevermind how he came to be in this strange, foreign land. alas, he's currently engaged in a losing battle with a smartphone, and if someone doesn't intervene soon, it runs the risk of becoming forever lost to the shallow depths of garden park's duck pond. ]

Video;
–and then the feed's back on her face, and he's reminded of his place in the hot sun, far, far from his own world. ]
Some direction would be greatly appreciated. What is expected of me now that I've come to reside in this place?
Video;
[She bites her lower lip before continuing.]
There is a welcome center and a few Inn's around there. Like I said I can meet you and show you around or if you'd rather I can give directions.
[Airy really does like helping people.]
Video;
[ he'll get used to it. eventually seeing the faces of strangers on the screen of this transparent thing will cease to be mystifying. ]
Video; -> Action;
[Even as she's talking she's pulling on her boots and moving towards the door. It's been so hot lately that Airy's been wearing skirts with her usual button down open, showing off the brightly colored shirt beneath it. She doesn't like the insistence of the sun or the swell of humidity that's settled over Genessia.
Just as she said she arrives in a few minutes, about ten to be exact. She tosses her phone in a bag that's slung around her shoulder and waves to the wayward traveler.]
Hi. [She smiles brightly at him.] Nice to formally meet you.
Action;
The pleasure is all mine, [ marco says, bowing his head slightly, ever the well-trained courtier. ] I appreciate you taking the time to meet with me.
Action;
People back in time are very formal and additionally Airy likes it. Until they call her by her birth name, then she gets frustrated.]
Yeah. It's better than being alone.
[Airy believes that no one should be alone.]
Aren't you a little hot in all that?
[He's making her over heat just by looking at him. He really needs a pair of jeans and a t-shirt.]
Action;
[ translation: it is very hot. it was much cooler in karakorum than it is here. ]
Action;
[She continues to smile at him.]
That's why I came out here.
[Airy waves at him to follow her and will leave the 'getting comfortable' decision to him.]
I can show you the way to the help center. [Or whatever it's called.] They have job listings and apartment listings. After that we can find you a hotel. That way you don't have to decide now. There are other places here and you might feel more comfortable there. Fayren is the only place without a city scape.
Action;
What sort of occupation does a man from my era hope to have in this futuristic world of yours?
Action;
[She should have paid more attention in history but math and english were her two favorite classes.]
Let's start with what your skills are? There are all sorts of things and while Genessia is like a city Fayren isn't. Everglade is also a city and so is Nova City... which it says in its name...
[Airy wonders how she manages to sound so lame.]
Action;
[ seven hundred years is a long time, and he would be amazed to learn that his name went so far down in history as to carry that far into the future. ]
I was a merchant before I left Venice. It was not a glamorous life, but it was worth living and ensured that you would keep on doing so. I have traveled far, across many different lands... But my adult life has since been dominated by life in Mongol Court. I have been trained in horsemanship, archery, the art of the sword, and several forms of kung fu. I have led armies, fought in battles, hunted down those who were in need of capture. I read, I listen— I memorize law and doctrine in order to advise and report accurately on what I saw, as I saw it
Action;
So selling something and then bounties.
[Two things he can easily do.]
I don't think it'll be to hard to find a job.
Action;
Action;
[She looks a little sad at the thought.]
I think it's good to help them. You don't have too but it isn't like a mercenary. It's... I think it's more amazing than that because you can help people.
Action;
[ the idea doesn't sit well with him, but it's something to look into, maybe. ]
Action;
[Airy smiles.]
Something like that but you don't have to if you don't want too. [The words quickly fall away from her lips. She doesn't want to put pressure on anyone.]
There is a list of jobs near the welcome center. You can literally look at any of them.
Action;
It is something to take into consideration, but I will look at what else is available.
May I inquire as to what your job is?
Action;
[Her job description is weird.]
I do a lot for a mechanic shop in Nova City. Mostly it's a lot of paperwork and baby sitting... and running around and talking to people.
[She's good at talking to people.]
Action;
Action;
[Wow, she sucks at explaining things.]
Like robots... like...
[She waves him a little closer and then looks at a spot on the ground. It appears as if she's looking at nothing but after a few seconds a clunking looking robot thing appears. It looks a lot like a transformer because that's all Airy can think of that isn't a toy puppy robot or a furbie.
It walks in a circle and then looks up at Marco before vanishing.]
Not just robots but systems made out of metal...
Action;
Magic, [ he breathes in open wonder. ] Wherever did you learn to do such a thing?
Action;
[Airy sort of jumps as if she might have done something odd. The robot, which had been solid before, flickers like a fading image and then vanishes. Is it not okay? Is it weird? She thinks it's weird.]
Sort of like magic but not... I just focus on something and I can make it appear. [As long as she keeps focusing.]
Action;
To me, such a wondrous talent is magic.
Action;
[Airy's trying not to blush.]
I'm still getting used to it.
