[Action] Maribelle's Tea Shop Grand Opening (Backdated to the 30th)

Who: Maribelle, her staff, her guests, and YOU!
Where: Genessia City, The Tea Time Cafe
When: 7:AM July 30th to 9PM July 30th
What: It's a bit of a party, people are encouraged to chat up the other people at their tables, and Maribelle's staff members are encouraged to go everywhere!
Warnings: Tea, flowers, frills, pomposity, violin, and maid uniforms.

Maribelle had gone all out with preparing everything for the grand opening and when one opens the door to the shop they will be greeted by the aroma of tea, fine pastries, and the flowers that decorate every table and every wall. Over in the corner of the shop, Maribelle herself is busily playing many classical pieces such as canon in d on her violin, and women in maid uniforms seem to be bustling about, taking orders, seating guests, and delivering tea. Once in a while Maribelle stops her playing to accept requests, questions, and sees to it that everything stays in order.

If a guest were to perhaps be directed to a table, they would find themselves seated in close proximity to Maribelle's violin playing. After one last stirring violin solo, Maribelle takes a moment to take a seat... and wouldn't you know, it's at this very table! "Good day to you, I trust that everything is to your satisfaction so far? If not, please feel free to inform our staff and we'll try our best to accommodate you. My name is Maribelle, and I own this tea shop."

For Maribelle's personal guests
Each guest Maribelle personally invited would have received an invitation before the day of the big event, with her glossy cursive penmanship giving the time for their scheduled appointment. With so many people she'd hoped to invite to the grand opening, it was difficult for her to simply greet all of them when they showed up and make sure everything was running smoothly. You'll find your tables in the comments below.

(ooc: I'm sorry this took me so long to get around to :\ RL stuff kept popping up until the weekend was over and I was days late. Anyways, feel free to backtag into eternity with me. I know I still have old tags owed to people but I really wanted to throw this thing together. Don't feel like you HAVE to reply if you're invited, but I shall now list the guests. Smoker, Kuzan, Adela, Tashigi, Coby, Chrom, Robin, Ike, Micaiah, Lucy, Levy, Weiss, Athena, Chopper, and Yukiko. Pretty much if you've talked with her, feel free to enjoy some complimentary tea... ~~Except Freeza, no tea for tyrants~~. Maka, Lenalee, and Orihime can also feel free to tag anything and anywhere they like as staff members.)

The table was rather large. A table made to be able to fit Kuzan comfortably but still fit normal sized people was a tall order ~~literally~~, but Maribelle managed to do so by having slightly taller chairs for the more ordinarily sized guests. Smoker would still probably loom a bit, not quite fitting in as a giant or normal sized, but he was probably used to that sort of thing. Though Maribelle hadn't had the time to get as acquainted with them yet, there were also places for Coby, Tashigi, and of course Adela.

After going on an extensive shopping trip with Robin, she was dying to show her off to the others. Unfortunately the only other shepherd here was Chrom and he was likely to be more interested in the food. Still, Maribelle thought she was rather well acquainted to the heroes of Telius, Micaiah and Ike, so they were also invited to sit at the the table alongside Chrom and Robin. But apparently Maribelle felt that this guest table was still a little lacking, so she also added in Robin's business partner Levy Mc'Garden and her friend Lucy Heartfilia. It didn't hurt that Maribelle knew both of them from another world and hoped to rekindle those friendships.

This invitation is for later in the evening, when most of the hustle and bustle has quieted down. There's a place for Miss Schnee and two other guests if she wished, though after their little tiff Maribelle was uncertain whether or not she'd attend. Yukiko and her guest had a seat right beside Maribelle and across from Weiss because of how impressed she was by the young woman, while Athena Cykes, Tony Chopper, and their guests were to be seated on the other sides. These guests were either a recipe for disaster or utter brilliance in Maribelle's opinion... if only she knew which it would be.

(Only Weiss gets two guests because she's a special snowflake)

When Micaiah stepped, in, she looked like she was still trying to wake up from an early, long nap.

She had gone back to the pods, and while understanding it wasn't a true escape still yearned to go back to Tellius. The intrigue set by both Ike and Maribelle's words had made her wonder... just what would she need to go through to save Daein? She got her answer the hard way. Only the rise of the goddesses allowed her to try her hand at letting Crimea's forces know that Daein had been tricked into the hands of the corrupt Senate. But Ike knew that already, didn't he?

And now she bet Maribelle did too.

She had merely shown up just to wake herself from that too heavy slumber, and thus hadn't realized that she had actually been invited until she saw a specially marked table. "Ah, this might be an awkward question, but were you expecting me?"

Smoker may be used to looming in chairs...

But Maribelle is probably going to throw a fit when she sees the way Smoker turns it backwards to lean his chest and arms against the back.

He does what he wants.

And it's better this way.

Adela would sigh at Smoker, but honestly she was more than used to it by now. At least she was dressed nicely, wearing that same purple sleeveless blouse and black dress pants.

Her wheelchair was set to the side for the time being, though there was no question Adela has had some help getting up and onto the chair she's seated at for their table. ~~Nehra it made her feel tiny though~~.

She seemed happy enough to simply listen to the music however, her eyes closed as she leaned on the table and rested her chin in her palm. She'd worry about ordering tea or something to eat in a bit, it was nice to just enjoy the atmosphere at first.

Ike, on the other hand, had come, knowing full well that he was invited.

And for once, he actually spent some coin on himself. Rather than wear his armor, though Yune had given him a suit designed to both look presentable and be functional, Ike had on a sleeveless (because his upper arm and shoulder muscles would rip any and all sleeves) blue polo shirt and khakis, and he had to admit, they were more comfortable than he expected. Nothing like the noble clothing he had been forced to wear during the interwar period.

By the time Micaiah found her table, Ike was already seated. He looked up and gave her an affirming nod.

"Seems that way. Did you not get an invite?"

Micaiah's look from Ike no longer seemed to be on edge... it was a vast improvement from when they first met on Genessia's soil. But she was a little sheepish, as she answered his question.

"Would you believe I came here straight from the Dream Docks? I almost failed to remember Ms. Maribelle's plans," she answered. "I came here mostly because I felt like she expected me, and I learned this place was open through word of mouth (or phone device). I'm sure the formal invite has been given to me somehow." It also didn't help that she had yet to get a full, formal address.

Regardless, she sat down next to him, and decided to wait a bit longer to see how things went.

[robin was definitely not suited for this kind of atmosphere. she was accustomed to tactics, to reading, and especially to having brief conversations with people one at a time. she had never even been to such a formal gathering, and she was in the presence of people that seemed to know what they were doing.

ah... well... maribelle was one of her best friends, so of course she had wanted to attend, for her sake. robin was wearing a dress that maribelle had picked out especially for her. it was embarrassing to be in something to extravagant, but yet again she reminded herself that this was for maribelle.

so, at the table... she nervously spun her glass, staring at the liquid before looking around at anyone else that may have been glancing her way as well.]

How are you.... enjoying yourself? [gods, this was all so much.]

This... is more like it. Kuzan settles into his own chair with a blissful sigh. It is the right height and, more to the point, it doesn't feel like it will collapse under him like a pile of matchsticks. It seems he will have to ask Maribelle where she got her furniture. He's dressed in his uniform, which is perhaps a little expected but honestly getting clothes tailored was not an expense he could afford right now... Though he could afford to get a matching little marine jacket for his dog which has the word 'bone' on the back in kanji. It sits on the table happily, fluffy tail whappling back and forth.

"I fear I am three steps from turning into Sengoku..." It is not a happy thought.

"A dog is not a goat," Smoker answered in his typical Captain Obvious way.

[ Given that it had been a long time and almost another life when she met Maribelle, Lucy was more than willing to rekindle that friendship with the other girl. And meeting other people was also a plus, since most of her friends had either left or didn't visit anymore. She was lonely. So when she got the invite, she changed into a red dress and headed over. Of course she could tell that poor Robin was feeling awkward in that dress - pretty as it was. ]

I've been enjoying my time here, so far. I've been hoping to get to know Maribelle again. Have you known her long?

[ Conversation should help Robin start to feel at ease right? ]

Orihime might be wearing a maid uniform; she might not. It all depended on whether or not Maribelle was willing to take the risk of that uniform getting dirty with the battle wounds of baking. Dustings of flour and powdered sugar, bright smears of colored icing, the occasional smudge of chocolate...all of these things are evidence of who's responsible for baking up a slew of cakes and miniature pastries. Many people have complained that Orihime's cooking is strange, but she has yet to hear any complaints about her baking unless it was the claim that her products were 'too fattening.'

Which, in her opinion, was the mark of a good cake.

She'd whipped up all kinds of cake flavors, combining them with different flavors of mousse for the filling. Her decorations are artful, and she's done her best to stick to the classy theme Maribelle tried to present. That meant no icing robots breathing frosting fire on the top of the cake.

Orihime was poised at the countertop, beaming from ear to ear with a cake knife in one hand and a wedge spatula in the other, ready to place a slice of cake on anyone's plate. Or maybe you found her out back, sitting on an empty crate with her hands on her knees, heaving a sigh of relief at having a chance to get off of her feet for a few minutes. Baking was hard work, but judging by the glow on her face, she was having fun too.

Ted never misses a grand opening of anything if he can help it. It's so important not to miss out on firsts.

Goodness, aren't there a lot of tea shops? Though he's never experienced one with this much rarefied delicacy. Violins, maid uniforms. It seemed like the kind of place practically begging for a bull to muss.

He avoided the temptation to stampede. Hold on, a tea shop...ah, but another long friend of his, Luke Triton, had these, and he was a regular patron there. Or used to be. He's murmuring to himself, lost in philosophical shadows.

"If you visit one tea shop, though having visited another dozens of times before...is that a kind of patron adultery? Am I being treacherous?"

Deep stuff.

Lenalee felt like she had been on her feet all day, serving those who had come and making sure she had a smile to each and every guest. Whenever she managed to get to the back however, she was quick to let her smile falter and started to rub her cheeks slightly.

She was pretty sure that her face was getting sore. "Today seems to be quite a successful day, don't you think?" She spoke as she looked over at the other.

Yukiko was always one to want to help when it comes to opening. She was even more than likely going to offer to advertise at her inn. After all it was the least she could do after all for all businesses.

So she sat quietly for the moment, looking around at anyone else who was here, a sweet smile on her lips.

[Despite being a lord, when it comes to fancy tea parties and the like Chrom can be a complete clod.]

[Kind of like he's doing right now.]

[He walks in still wearing the same thing he does every day: a blue embroidered tunic, a slightly tattered white cloak, and armed with his trusty sword Falchion. Maybe someone should have mentioned a dress code. Maybe someone did and he assumed this was fitting attire anyway.]

[Since Robin is the person he knows best, he sits next to her with a relieved smile, nodding to Lucy and the others assembled at the table.]

Greetings. I hope I've arrived punctually.

[He knows he can get yelled at if he's too late or too early, so he tried to aim for something in between.]

[He says nothing about the beautiful dresses because, like the proper lordly clod he is, he really hasn't noticed. Now if Robin just so happened to buy a new sword...]

"The Dream Docks, eh?" Ike leaned back in his chair, noticing that Micaiah seemed to be more comfortable around him now. That was good.

"What did you see while you were there?"

If he knew, it would probably make things easier.

Micaiah took a breath and turned to Ike.

"It was no easy thing. I learned that Pelleas had been tricked by Beginon into signing a blood pact!" She cried. "After that, we had little choice but to aid them, though we searched for a way to end the dirty deed. We could only stall for time, even with dangerous acts.

"However, it seemed that the war had more dangerous purpose... it roused the Goddesses of Chaos and Order. And Ashnera... she had turned everyone outside of our armies into stone! It was awful! But with the majority of those in stone, our army could finally be truthful about what ailed us, at least. When I woke here, that battle hadn't yet finished... but Yune told me we'd be ready," Micaiah finished. "I feel more confident we'll prevail."

[yes, conversation will definitely help her out.]

...Again? [now that made robin's eyes widen a little, especially since she thought this was maribelle's first time in genessia.]

Ah, I've known her for several years now, and we have fought many battles together.

[.......................chrom. why does he get to stay in his regular clothes?! robin looks embarrassed for him however, especially since she knows that maribelle won't be happy to see him in such a state.]

Chrom! Where are your formal clothes-?! Maribelle won't be happy to see you in such a statte, you know....

[ It is! ]

Yeah, I met her ...oh I don't even know how long ago, in some.. ocean world? She was captain of a ship, and .. I think I was there for a very short time, but we got along pretty well, according to Maribelle. I ..actually don't remember my time there that clearly, but that doesn't matter. The bonds of nakama are strong enough to withstand distance and time and..

[ She ... hesitates a moment. Because she had believed that, very strongly, but over the past year... and during her time here, she's had reason to doubt that. People were human - she couldn't assume everyone who value those bonds the same way she did. ]

True friendship doesn't vanish so easily. [ She says after a moment. ]

Kuzan just stares. Smoker... were you dropped on your head repeatedly from a very large height as a child.

"Thank you. Everything is so much clearer now. You are henceforth promoted to rear admiral." For being an ass.

Ike nodded in response. This was all information he already knew from his own experiences. Carefully, he raised an arm to rest it gently on Micaiah's shoulder.

"It was rough. The period of time during which the rest of the world remained trapped in stone was one of the worst ordeals I've ever faced. But I persevered, and we pulled through. I believe you'll find the same thing in due time."

He finished off what he said with a reassuring smile. "You can trust me on that."

Micaiah shared his grin. "I feel much more confident about that now."

Of course, there was still Maribelle's assessment, and now she was realizing just how she came to be viewed. "I still don't regret defending Daein, but at least now I have a better understanding of what we've gone though."

But at least she's much more at ease now than she was when she first got here.

"YAY!" A promotion!

"Wait a minute...." He's a vice admiral now, you ass!

"That's a demotion! I made it to vice admiral now!"

Screw. You.

How dare you trick him into being happy about such a thing.

[His royal butt has hardly touched the seat before he freezes up, surprised at Robin's exclamation.]

I don't understand what you mean. This is what I've always worn to matters of diplomacy and war.

[And it's just tea, it's not a coronation ceremony. ...But let's be honest, he'd wear the same clothes to that too. He looks around to see if Maribelle is indeed on her way to scold him. The coast seems clear for now.]

Aren't you worried you'll spill something if you wear white?

[WELP. It was only a matter of time before he said something stupid to Robin.]

"You shouldn't. The only people at fault were the Begnion Senate." Ike had personally forgiven them as soon as he learned the truth of the blood pact. More than anything, it served to further fuel his contempt for the Senate in general and Lekain in particular.

"And they'll pay for their crimes. By the time the war is over, they won't be able to threaten anyone with anything."

Micaiah nodded. "I have full confidence of that. The world depends on it, even if its at a standstill now."

But Micaiah herself has grown a bit. "But while I'm here, I need to be able to make a living here as well. There is the issue with the Hands of Decay. Has there been any progress on them?"

"Yeah, it's awesome!" Orihime beamed. If ever there was a person who never got tired of smiling, it seemed to be Orihime. Her feet might have been sore, but she was happy. There was something satisfying about a day of hard work and seeing so many satisfied customers. She leaned back on her hands and arched her back, grimacing until she'd popped the kinks in her spine. "I can't wait to try out some new recipes. It'll be interesting to find out which cake flavors are the most popular. It'll probably get quieter as time goes on, though."

"Now now, rank means nothing here remember?"

In spite of the chide Adela couldn't hide the amused grin at the antics playing out before her. As long as they didn't get violent or cause too much of a fuss they probably wouldn't incure the wrath Maribelle could rain down on them, right?

"It might, but yet it might not. It all depends on how things go and how much people like this place compared to others." She was at least aware that it was a possibility, but working here instead of what she had to do back home was nice... minus the fact she was still worried since her friends were either missing, or had returned back to the battle field by choice.

"We just gotta try our best that way."

Ike shook his head, his smile fading.

"Nothing as far as I know. Of course, I'm not privy to all of the details, but speaking as a common bounty hunter, there hasn't been anything.

"On the bright side, the Hands of Decay haven't acted, either. Things in Fayren have been mostly silent."

"I will stay alert. In the meantime, since Fayren is so close to home, I believe I'll look for employment on those places."

She looked around. "I wish I came a little better dressed than I have." She hoped Maribelle wouldn't chew her out for this, given that she wasn't sure if she was looking forward to talking about her history again or not.

"You did? Well it's for the best I suppose that everything's gone crazy..." He nods apologetically to Adela though rank is a hard thing to leave behind. "I much prefer vacation." He glances at her.

"Though since you are in charge now, just know that you'll have to keep on his back despite the fact he'll refuse to listen to anything you say."

A ...captain? Maribelle never told me about any of that. I wonder what else she has been keeping from me... I will need to ask her about all of this.

[robin smiled at her.]

Of course, I feel the exact same. No matter the distance apart from friends, they will always be your friends.

What about matters involved with events hosted by Maribelle?

[because she knows those standards will be vastly different. robin just shakes her head and sighs slightly, knowing full well that chrom will not change so easily. he was always like this, but it also made her own nerves settle down a bit.]

Possibly, but I'll just have to be extra careful. [it was really stupid, but not as bad as other things he has said to her.]

If I could I would be wearing my coat as well.

[Chrom's face is blank. He can't remember what he'd worn to the last Maribelle-hosted event. Was it his Shepherd warrior's uniform? WAS IT????? A very mild swell of panic might have been starting to form in the pit of his stomach. Certainly he didn't want to disappoint or embarrass his friend who had fought faithfully beside him for many years, but he wasn't sure there was time enough to go out and fetch something more suitable. He cranes his head around, trying to catch a glimpse of their host. He doesn't see her yet, so he slumps a little in his seat as if being harder to spot will fix the problem.]

Would you like me to go fetch it for you?

I doubt it's a matter of 'keeping it from you'. She's your friend isn't she? She probably just hasn't gotten around to bringing it up. Besides, it was a very long time ago.

[ She glances away at that point, collecting her cup of tea, thoughtful. ]

I don't know how long -I- was there, but it couldn't have been very long since I remember so little. [ That or it left almost no impression on her memory. ]

Ahem.

[Maribelle was likely right where Chrom least expected her to be, looming behind his back after swiftly making her way back from her routine inspection of the kitchen. She'd cleared her throat not only to announce her presence but to register her disapproval of Chrom's semi-casual attire, and his suggestion to put Robin back in her coat, after Maribelle had spent meticulous hours with her to choose the perfect outfit. She'd hoped she'd be there to witness Chrom's slack jawed expression at how stunning Robin looked, but it seemed that Chrom's slack jaw was more from his own dismay at not picking out an outfit Maribelle would approve of.]

Robin, Lucy... Chrom. I'm glad that all of you were able to make it today.

[She was first and foremost a lady of class, she wouldn't make a public spectacle of her grand tea party... but Chrom was certainly in hot water today.]

"Now, now gentlemen. It will hardly do to bicker about the semantics of rank in a place such as this." Though really, Maribelle did still tend to think of herself as their superior. Not only had she been captain of a ship they both traveled on, she was also a noblewoman which was still technically a higher rank. With that little fact in mind, she began to pour a dark black coffee for Smoker and complimentary tea for the others.

"As for your dog Kuzan, please be advised that I do not usually allow pets in my shop." She made certain special exceptions for each of her guests, like Smoker's open top.
