[ closed text: trafalgar law. A lot of the contents of the pamphlet and device tutorials go over Corazon's head, if he's honest. It's hard to go from dying to not-quite, to completely lose his bearings in the blink of an eye (that felt much longer). Concentration gets more difficult. Long story short, Corazon is pretty much fumbling around blindly when he happens across the name. Law's name. He'd like to say he doesn't blindly trust to hope, but he is... really, desperately hoping when he sends the message. ]

Are you who you say you are?[ nailed it. How could this possibly be a bad idea. In a day or so he will probably realize exactly why it could be a bad idea, but still. ]

This is already more peaceful than the last island I was on. But I don't think it was hard to beat at the time.[ Users will find that (ICly) the replies they get from this poster are relatively staggered in timing. Corazon can be absentminded on a good day, but today is especially rough. ]
Do you have any advice for a newcomer that the booklet doesn't cover? I would be interested in hearing it.

[ If Aokiji's an Admiral and Smoker made it to Vice-Admiral, there's a long list of subordinate positions this person could be in. ]
Smoker was mentioning the marines who wound up here... but does that make you his second in command or Garp's pupil?
[ He potentially feels lowkey bad for him if it's one and feels extremely bad for him if it's the other tbh. ]

My name is Coby, captain under Vice Admiral Garp. Though those titles don't mean very much around here, in the end.
private;
True enough. Nice meeting you, Coby. I'm Rosinante. Knew Smoker in his academy days. However long ago that must be in your standing.
private;
rosinante. now that's a name he could swear he's seen and heard before. but where? (files? newspapers? memorials?) ]
A long time ago, then. I only enlisted very recently.
[ if smoker is in his 30's, that would be about-- ]
A decade, give or take.
private;
He appreciates Coby doing this approximate math for him. ]
Damn, time flies. He's been sounding like he got surlier with age...
private;
[ please dont tell him i sAID THAT ]

private;
He's very dedicated to his job, isn't he?
private;
private;
Are you one of those excellent examples?
private;
For now, it's really nice to indulge in some of the simpler truths. ]
I doubt it! But it's something nice to aspire to. As long as you keep a good moral standing, it's hard to fall into any positions you regret.
private;
[ did you mean: fleet admiral sakazuki? ]
Considering that I would have read something on the matter if you'd done terribly, the lack of damning testimony says something of your career. I suppose congratulations are in order.
private;
Thank you! I try to have pride in not ruining my record, at least. Training under Garp means you must have real potential yourself.
private;
He seems to think so, too. I still have a lot to learn, despite any reports on the matter.
[ on the other end of this conversation, someone is doing their best tomato impression. ]
Did he have a hand in your training as well? Or were you of a more fortunate bunch?
