13: Routine - Open Action, Multiple Locations (August 7th)

A. Garden Park, Genessia

[ Phew. It's actually harder than she initially thought.

While looking through a magazine weighed down by a single shoe, Adela is on a blanket in garden park doing assorted yoga poses -- whatever she can manage. By the time she's done she flops onto the blanket, looking up at the patches of sky beneath the tree she's under while she takes a break.

Maybe she shouldn't be out and about so soon after the rather unfortunate encounter she had the other day, but at the same time she doesn't want to let that kind of experience rule her life.

... Maybe she'll keep laying down for a bit longer though, it's kind of relaxing and it's cool enough under the tree. No one's bothering her either, so what's the harm? ]

B. Sycamore Cycles, Genessia

[ Of course, there is always work to be done. Even if she has relative freedom with the hours she works, she does still need to do so.

Even if, today, she's working on a rather personal project; a motorcycle for her own use, one that can be functional with one leg. Balance might be a little harder for her, but it's still in the planning stages at least.

Meaning that Adela is writing down notes about how she wants it to work and how to try and help it function properly, entirely focused on her task instead of watching for anyone who might think of dropping by and taking a look at the products sold. ]

C. Docks, Fayren

[ Something else she's seemed to pick up from Smoker is the desire to fish. Or, well, to at least try fishing.

With some diced chum in a bucket next to her, Adela is sitting at the edge of one of the docks (with her chair parked beside her), a simple fishing pole in hand as she just watches the ocean and waits. There really isn't a better place for her to fish at the moment, and although Fayren has lost a lot of its appeal to her she does still like returning to the simpler town from time to time. It's still familiar enough to be a comfort.

The sun's starting to set though, maybe she should head home soon... But, she wants to at least catch something, even if it's too small to eat. That and quiet moments like this are starting to feel harder and harder to come by. Maybe she'll be allowed this at least. ]

[It's a light tug on that fishing line that signals there's something there. Perhaps something is around after all. Especially as that tug turns into a pull as something obviously heavy is hooked on.

Pull, pull with all your might, Adela! You can definitely manage to land yourself a big catch!

Or it's Luffy hanging on the fishing hook by it hooking the back of his shirt, the pirate looking rather limp.

At least he's got a fish hanging out in his hat hanging off his back though.]

[Hi, Adela. Your housemate didn't expect to see you on her walk, and considering... recent events, she's not even sure if she should approach. But Tashigi's never been one to shy away from a situation, so she quietly comes near and has a seat.]

It's a nice day out.

[Wait, no. The weather's never a good conversation starter. Quick, change gears!]

Were those exercises you were doing? I've never seen anything quite like that.

[ That's got to be big! Adela's barely managing to ground herself enough to not let whatever it is pull her in, wondering if the rod will break before she can get whatever it is out of the water--

IS THAT A PERSON!?

Adela double-takes, panicking a little before yanking and trying to catch the taller boy to get him back onto dry ground.

Oh Nehra, she hopes he isn't dead. ]

[ Ah? She blinks at her company, sitting up and looking at her before nodding to regard her. When Tashigi starts asking though, she pulls the magazine out from under her shoe and hands it to her. ]

It is called Yoga, and I was shown it as a means to help keep my strength up while I still have only one leg. It is actually quite relaxing, once one is used to it.

[If Adela ever wanted to see a human water fountain, Luffy's doing a pretty good representation of one as water squirts out of his mouth. It's taking quite a while too, like he tried to drink the sea before it ends and the guy coughs once before groggily sitting upright.]

Maah? What happened? Oh right, that stupid fish was taunting me.

[So apparently he jumped in after it.]

Oh, hey you're that girl in the wheelchair. Thanks for the save.

Wait, Luffy?

[ Through the shock of hooking an apparently drowning boy, Adela had failed to recognize him until just now. When she does she sighs, rubbing teh back of her head and absently noting that she's now soaked thanks to that. Maybe not quite as much as he is, but still. ]

That is right, and uhm... Do not worry over it. You went after a fish for taunting you though?

[ She has to wonder if it's the same one in his hat. She's pretty sure she's never seen someone stretch quite like that though... ]

[Hmm. These weird stretch things are a way to build strength? It seems odd, but then, a lot of things have been odd since she arrived. After looking through the magazine for a few moments, she nods.]

Would you be willing to show me sometime? I think I'd like to try it, but I'd prefer to learn from a friend.

I am still very new to it myself, there is not much you could learn of it from me.

[ She smiles weakly, stretching her arms above her head after a beat. ]

Still, groups do generally meet here in the park over weekends if you would like to join in that?

Yeah! The stupid fish just kept eating my bait.

[At least he'll find the fish. By putting his hat on his head, fish and all. Splat.]

There it is! At least I caught it now!

You wanna set a fire and roast it? We could go catch more fish as well.

[Because one fish is definitely not enough and if they're gonna eat, they might as well eat well.]

There's plenty I could learn from you!

[Whoops. That was a bit too forceful. She blushes a bit from embarrassment, finding a very nice patch of grass to look at.]

I might consider it, if it doesn't interfere with a job. I really should get one soon. I don't want to be a burden to you and Smoker.

[ She can't help it. She laughs after a second, shaking her head. Maybe they do act a little different, but this makes it very simple to see that Luffy and Ace are definitely related in some way. ]

Let us catch some more then, and find a safe spot to cook them after. Do you have a pole as well, or did you happen to lose it falling into the water? ]

[ The forcefulness of the statement does throw her off, but Adela doesn't let it bother her for too long and instead shifts a little so she's sitting closer to Tashigi. ]

Well, have you thought of something you might like? Aside from beginning to teach swordsmanship that is -- it might take some time before you can begin that, right?

[One of the first things Namur does when he finds himself in a new port is figure out which piers get used for fishing and which ones don't. Because it doesn't matter how much he tells himself to stay away and leave them alone, if he winds up anywhere near them, he's pretty much guaranteed to get tangled up somehow.

This would happen to be one of the piers he considers safe.

So when he senses a bit of chum hitting the water it piques his curiosity. Of course, being a creature of the sea in his element, does he think to examine things the same way he does on land?

Of course not.

When you're in the sea and you've got electroreceptors, you sniff things!

And when a shitty hook gets stuck in your maw you naturally pull on the line to ease the tension so you can safely pull it out. Except someone usually starts pulling back, which means you've got to pull even more down, maybe wrap it around your hand so you'll have a better grip. Or maybe you try biting the stuff because you have sharp teeth that gnaw through solid metal. Only fishing line is so damn thin it winds up between your teeth so then you're really stuck in a mess. And whoever's up there is still pulling so it's all getting tighter and it hurts and you thrash around a little, trying to get your teeth on it or get a good enough grip to pull more down so you can have some slack to work with and before you know it you're tied up in a tight, painful, bleeding knot.

Because hooks are evil.

And Namur hates them almost as much as he hates his life right now. He does at least still have his legs loose, so he kicks off the bottom and leaps for the pier, mouth intentionally open even if he's not aiming to bite anything. Hopefully whatever dumbass cast the line will get scared enough to drop the pole and run.]

[ Oh Nehra why

Adela can't help the high-pitched scream that leaves her, and in her startled panick she tries to crawl back and out of range. After a moment, even though it still feels like her heart is about to jump out of her throat, the red head regains herself long enough to recognize just who it is. ]

Wait, Namur!?

[ What in the-- ]

[Damn, no such luck.

Well of course not, he has a shitty hook in his mouth, of course he'd have bad luck!

Annnnd... that's Adela.

Swell.

Namur attempts to lift his chin as per the usual greeting, but with his whole torso now tied together it kind of looks more like he just sort of rocks himself back a little bit.]

'Sup?

[So now he gets to worm himself the rest of the way up onto the dock... or at least try to. It's not easy to try and angle himself to the side enough to get purchase with his knee, without at the same time shifting his center of balance over the edge. And in fact he fails this time, a strangled grunt in his throat as he slowly slips back over the edge with a splash.]

[ Okay she can't help wincing at that, and now that it doesn't look like a shark-fish-person isn't about to eat her she can calm down enough to approach slowly. That... Does not look pleasant. ]

Nehra, I am sorry for this Namur... Please, let me help you with that. I promise I can get it out.

[ Along with getting all of the line off of him, it's really simple if he'll let her. ]

[Luffy looks amused. Confused, but amused as Adela laughs.]

Yeah! Big cookout and party!

[Of two people.]

Eh, I did have a stick and line. I can go find another one to do it.

[A stick's easy enough, there's trees everywhere. A line? Not so much.]

[ She shakes her head, offering her pole to Luffy then. ]

Here, use mine. It might not go as quickly, but we have enough bait to be able to catch a fair amount right?

[Time to push some buttons! He'd really like to get him to focus on the evil, totally-meant-to-hurt-him hook, and on Adela only insofar as she's the malevolent bearer of said hook. The more offended, the better!

What's better, he'll try and leave out any sort of charitable or humble feeling he might have about Adela, or this whole situation in general. If she apologizes, PC would prefer him to interpret that in a self-serving way; i.e. she's just saying that to get out of trouble. 'Get it out'? What's she doing leaving a hook for you to catch on in the first place? The nerve!

Y'know, somethin' around those lines.]

[Luffy's going to bait and cast the line pretty far out. It's where the big ones roam after all.]

Awesome. I hope we catch a giant shark or something! Or maybe a sea king!

...Do they even have sea kings here?

I would not know - I do not even rightly know what a sea king is.

That aside, that rod might break if it manages to hook something as big as a shark.

[Namur has to turn himself headfirst fast before his gills back up from water going the wrong direction and he drowns. He dives for the bottom again, lining himself up for another jump. This time he won't be trying to be terrifying, and focuses on getting enough height to ever so gracefully flop onto the pier. A couple of the wooden boards make a sharp cracking noise under the impact, but hey! He's up!]

Ain't gonna say no if y' wanna help out.

[His speech is a little funny though, what with the hook being caught somewhere in his rows of teeth.]

You don't know what sea kings are? Does this place not have any?

They're giant fish. Larger than mountains! Terrors of the sea! Totally delicious!

[Luffy seems a little too excited about that last point.]

If we can get the shark close enough, I'll just beat it up and drag it ashore.

[He can at least resist the sea water for a little bit if it's just his arm.]

[ She nods, trying to give him a reassuring smile before looking for the hook and beginning to manipulate it carefully. ]

Please, try to hold still.

[ She's going to use her magic, changing its shape so that it doesn't hook into his flesh again - it is a straight metal line and fixed into that shape by the time she gets that part out. It's hard to keep untangling him, and she's doing her best to be gentle and cause as little distress as possible. ]

... It did not hurt you, did it?

Again I would not know if it does or not. A fishing pole like that could not possibly catch a fish of that size at any rate, and would the townsfolk not make a larger fuss over them if there were?

[ So much enthusiasm, she's not sure if she can keep up! ]

That aside, you nearly drowned earlier Luffy. What in the world would keep you from doing so again if you went after a shark or sea king or whatever other kind of fish like that?
