13: Routine - Open Action, Multiple Locations (August 7th)
A. Garden Park, Genessia
[ Phew. It's actually harder than she initially thought.
While looking through a magazine weighed down by a single shoe, Adela is on a blanket in garden park doing assorted yoga poses -- whatever she can manage. By the time she's done she flops onto the blanket, looking up at the patches of sky beneath the tree she's under while she takes a break.
Maybe she shouldn't be out and about so soon after the rather unfortunate encounter she had the other day, but at the same time she doesn't want to let that kind of experience rule her life.
... Maybe she'll keep laying down for a bit longer though, it's kind of relaxing and it's cool enough under the tree. No one's bothering her either, so what's the harm? ]
B. Sycamore Cycles, Genessia
[ Of course, there is always work to be done. Even if she has relative freedom with the hours she works, she does still need to do so.
Even if, today, she's working on a rather personal project; a motorcycle for her own use, one that can be functional with one leg. Balance might be a little harder for her, but it's still in the planning stages at least.
Meaning that Adela is writing down notes about how she wants it to work and how to try and help it function properly, entirely focused on her task instead of watching for anyone who might think of dropping by and taking a look at the products sold. ]
C. Docks, Fayren
[ Something else she's seemed to pick up from Smoker is the desire to fish. Or, well, to at least try fishing.
With some diced chum in a bucket next to her, Adela is sitting at the edge of one of the docks (with her chair parked beside her), a simple fishing pole in hand as she just watches the ocean and waits. There really isn't a better place for her to fish at the moment, and although Fayren has lost a lot of its appeal to her she does still like returning to the simpler town from time to time. It's still familiar enough to be a comfort.
The sun's starting to set though, maybe she should head home soon... But, she wants to at least catch something, even if it's too small to eat. That and quiet moments like this are starting to feel harder and harder to come by. Maybe she'll be allowed this at least. ]

Adela can't help the high-pitched scream that leaves her, and in her startled panick she tries to crawl back and out of range. After a moment, even though it still feels like her heart is about to jump out of her throat, the red head regains herself long enough to recognize just who it is. ]
Wait, Namur!?
[ What in the-- ]

Well of course not, he has a shitty hook in his mouth, of course he'd have bad luck!
Annnnd... that's Adela.
Swell.
Namur attempts to lift his chin as per the usual greeting, but with his whole torso now tied together it kind of looks more like he just sort of rocks himself back a little bit.]
'Sup?
[So now he gets to worm himself the rest of the way up onto the dock... or at least try to. It's not easy to try and angle himself to the side enough to get purchase with his knee, without at the same time shifting his center of balance over the edge. And in fact he fails this time, a strangled grunt in his throat as he slowly slips back over the edge with a splash.]

Nehra, I am sorry for this Namur... Please, let me help you with that. I promise I can get it out.
[ Along with getting all of the line off of him, it's really simple if he'll let her. ]

What's better, he'll try and leave out any sort of charitable or humble feeling he might have about Adela, or this whole situation in general. If she apologizes, PC would prefer him to interpret that in a self-serving way; i.e. she's just saying that to get out of trouble. 'Get it out'? What's she doing leaving a hook for you to catch on in the first place? The nerve!
Y'know, somethin' around those lines.]
no subject
Ain't gonna say no if y' wanna help out.
[His speech is a little funny though, what with the hook being caught somewhere in his rows of teeth.]
no subject
Please, try to hold still.
[ She's going to use her magic, changing its shape so that it doesn't hook into his flesh again - it is a straight metal line and fixed into that shape by the time she gets that part out. It's hard to keep untangling him, and she's doing her best to be gentle and cause as little distress as possible. ]
... It did not hurt you, did it?
no subject
He's also trying to suppress the fact that Adela has no way of knowing about that, or the fact that what's she doing is pretty normal anyway. As always, taking thoughts out is the go-to strategy.
And, of course, if he could reinterpret her attempts at comfort as patronizing pity, that'd be just about perfect.]
no subject
Naw girl, I always like t' jab m'self with shitty fishhooks an' bleed all over. 'S cool.
[A part of him thinks he ought to be impressed that somehow the hook became a needle? But what difference does that make? He's still in this mess because of her.
And what is with 'maids always coming after him with fishhooks? Pinkie Pie thought it'd be hilarious too. Damn humans.]
no subject
[ She certainly doesn't seem to think it's funny in the least. That really does look like it hurts, and the guilt she's feeling over it is new. She can't help blaming herself for it, because that is quite a lot of blood from one small hook and it must have caused him a lot of pain. She tries to move as quickly as she can, untangling the fishing line carefully so that, eventually, he's free once more.
And the fishing line is ruined, but she can always replace that. ]
I am done. Do you wish to see a healer?

Since he's just starting out with this patient, it's time to see how much he can get away with. Screwing around by taking unnecessary risks is, unfortunately, what cost him more than a few patients, but screw them, they just don't have the minerals to achieve something truly great.
So, time to switch gears. All those ideas of Adela, somehow, meaning all of this? Yeah, forget all that. Total accident. Just fishing. Completely sane. Whatever.
But if Adela didn't do anything wrong, why is she apologizing? The obvious answer, or at least the one PC's promoting, is because, wait for it...she's a people-pleasing, appeaser weakling.
Of course Adela didn't mean it. When does she ever mean anything? Isn't this all one big, contemptible pattern? All it takes is one angry face, just one sarcastic quip, and presto, suddenly she's on her knees trying to make things right when she was never in the wrong. A quitter, through and through. Damn humans indeed!]

'M fine.
[He scrubs his face with his hands, trying to work through everything. Shit, he's always such a mess after this kind of thing happens. And with Pinkie Pie fresh on his mind- well. He's still pissed off that somehow she's the one that got hurt when she's the one that did it, but in the end does it matter who done it? They wound up not being friends anymore after that, and they both lost out. Namur might feel disappointed in Adela at the moment, but she's barely a smolt. If there's one thing he does like about smolts, it's that they're smart enough to figure shit out as they go. She'll get her feet under her eventually, and if he's still somehow stuck in this world, he wants to be there when she does.]
Know there's a reason they're all tryna catch fish on the other pier, right? 'S where the schools come in on the current. Yer too far 'way t' nab their attention over here.
[Namur regards the pile of ruined fishing line with contempt.]
'Sides, that shit's bad luck. An' 's rude, makin' 'em bleed out like that. Want fish, best way t' get 'em's with a net.
no subject
[ At last she seems to relax, or at least she's not tense anyway. She is still blaming herself because that had to have hurt, and she won't let herself forget it any time soon, but the fact that Namur is taking a step back and calming down is allowing her to do the same. ]
I will take your advice should I decide to go fishing again, you have my word. Both the location and to try to use a net in the future.

The family business was tedious to work through, and probably wouldn't be undone in one afternoon. Then again, would complete dissolution really work in his favor? PC rather liked how they all reinforced and insulated each other. If he could keep that aspect, but stir up some resentment and petty hatred that every day grew worse and worse, that'd be the best thing possible. Too attached to leave, too miserable to stay. He'd log this hook incident away to add to the list of one of many petty grievances; maybe he'd use it later as ammo to an argument, or something.
There's also Adela to consider. She could probably be damned practically by osmosis...]

[Namur has the most unimpressed look on his face.]
Look, sweetheart. If yer lookin' for food on the cheap jus' ask an' I'll getcha some. Bigger'ns, too. Shit that feeds on the bugeaters so they won't even taste like flies, aye? Hell, y' want shark fin soup I'll bust one a them bastards up for y'. Jus' gotta promise not t' waste it, aye? An' maybe do me some favors back when I need 'em.
no subject
[ Sigh.
But she won't pursue it anymore and instead shakes her head, making to set aside the rod on top of the ruined line and looking to him again. ]
Perhaps another time I may take you up on that offer, but for now I think I should stop. Even if I know no others who might not appreciate getting caught like that, one ruined experience is enough for one day.
