Hoo boy, this was gonna suck. Ted felt like a dejected jackass, and so he was. His conscience ate at him until he ran out of excuses, and so he resolved to take one on the chin and suffer the scorn, however deserved, of The World. Might as well get the practice; he gets the feeling he'll be doing this sort of thing a lot. He'd try and keep this frank and short.

A confession to make, everyone. I'm Ted, and I'm the so-called 'Vigilante' that gave trouble a week or two ago. I apologize for being quarrelsome, as well as for any mischief made. Especially to Fai, to whom I spoke much evil. For what it's worth, any bounties reigned in or crime stopped during that stunt were done according to lawful practice, as much as any bounty hunter would do. Again, please forgive my duplicity. If recompense can be made or law need subjection, I'll try to obey.

No new investigations were carried out, no more attention was paid, no new bounties were cleared; or else, if they were, they were just as easily attributable to other forces. All he knew for sure is that strife was made, which the city had more than enough of.]

This isn't really surprising, not surprising at all. Though I suppose it's nice not needing to even have a trial to figure out the culprit. Not that there was a murder or anything to warrant such a thing.

Yes, they will, and...well, I wouldn't say that till you knew my creed. It's very contrary to everyone else's. They say the best reason to hate someone is for what they think, and I think, I've come to find, pure iconoclasm.

Well, I know that you've expressed the desire to comfort the penitent; as in, those most deserving of a few blows on the chin for their transgressions. There's something kind about that, isn't there?

Heh, well if you want a sample, I believe in little things like, say, the idea that there are no good people, or that phrases like "self-respect" and "self-esteem" are covers for egotism, and should be discarded. All very offensive, I'm told.

I really hope you're right about that, whoever you are. May we know the difference between patience and sloth.

Heh, doesn't leave many alternatives, does it? No, I'm not good, same as anyone. As for persons...who knows? I'd hope there's more to us than egos. I think people are happiest when they think of themselves least.

Mm...I've been considering. The mission I've been tasked on this world, long ago, is to protect everyone 'regardless of the nature of their souls'. But I don't know if a souls' nature can be disregarded much longer. I should like to save everyone, both body and soul. Heh, I've had far more luck with the former than the latter. I was sort of hoping you might assist the other, but the faith...it's much rarer than I ever imagined. If there's no others, I might have to start...preaching. [He sounds a little timid, for once. Not a career path he ever considered.]
