[Nagito who normally smiled as much as he could when talking to everyone was rather troubled looking. He held the paper in his hands and sighed heavily before addressing the camera.]

This... this is suppose to be something to root for? This vigilante....

[However, the person from before had already spoken up. Even the paper deemed that person pointless. So who was the other person mentioned who commit those atrocities? Could they be one and the same? Had he missed something?]

All I read was something despair inducing. Who would consider something like that any good at all? I can't believe in this person's hope, they are more a bringer of despair.

[To go so far... it was inhuman. It was like a monster.]

However, I will give one thing to this person, surely such actions and such despicable means will entice Hope among the people as they come together against him. It's the only acceptable way to tolerate this.

[He pauses a moment and laughs cheerlessly to himself.]

Ah... and I thought perhaps this place would be different. I thought perhaps this place was lighter. I thought maybe....

Now, I suppose, it's just about waiting to see what the outcome turns out to be. Please don't disappoint me. I've been disappointed enough lately.

[He wasn't really sure how to do this, not the physical part of sending the message, but the facing her after the last time they saw each other. Not that she was his first choice for this, but she was the only one around, and the only one he knew exactly where she stood. So with a reluctance he sent her a message.]

Mioda san, have you read the paper? I want to investigate a little about what it wrote about. Surely you don't like what it described either.

[I'm sorry that I upset you.... No. He didn't really feel sorry and he wasn't going to say it even if he did. He would just have to hope that she had enough time to be willing to talk to him again.]

What kind of outcome are you hoping for, exactly?

The outcome that is more hopeful of course.

Expect to wait a long time. Anytime you set people up with a way you expect them to be, they're bound to act differently to spite you. It's a law of the universe.

I highly doubt anyone is out to spite me, I'm not nearly important enough to be so considered. But, perhaps to an extent you're right, people will eventually disappoint you. People you thought were better turn out to be human scum.

But! Just because those things can and have happened, doesn't mean I don't have faith that hope will still win in the end. Any set back will just make that potential future all the more potent. So in this case, even if the situation gets worse, I know that a greater result will inevitably happen.

How do you know that?

Because that's just how it works, despair will always give birth to Hope. Hope will always triumph over despair. It might take a while, it might delve deeper into despair even. But in the end, no matter what, Hope will always come.

There is no question, it has been proven over and over. It is the truth of the universe.

And you're troubled by this news? I suppose it's despairing with so much violence. I think it's difficult to find hope, when it gets repeatedly crushed by the daily grind.

Who wouldn't be? But I disagree. It isn't difficult to find hope. Hope is always there, and even if you feel crushed by your daily life, hope will always shine through in the end.

When you're at your lowest, it will come forth stronger than ever.

[Abel smiled and shook his head a bit. Such optimism.]

Well, aren't you a ray of sunshine? Do you ever find someone who agrees with your message?

[He paused for a moment. He had never met anyone that understood.]

I don't need validation, it's too much to ask for anyway. It doesn't change the truth however. Agree or disagree, it's the same in the end. But, one day those who couldn't understand will. I'm sure of it.

Well I agree. You're not alone. I agree with you. [To some extent!]

[ But it felt a little hollow. But that was to be expected. He was quite sure this person wasn't on the same wavelength. ]

What do you think of this situation?

I'm not sure. I've been in Everglade on an assignment to comfort the people. I am at the limit of what I can do, if not more. I'm a priest, you see, and just like yourself, I gave advice, I guide, and I tried to lead their hearts to peace and love. Many people felt God abandoned them because of these attacks.

And well, I've been made fun of, as many accused me of hypocrisy and many people told me that prayers don't solve anything and neither they can restore the back to life. That's okay. [He shrugs, feeling tired from the chaos.]

[He listened quietly, he wouldn't say he gave anyone advice. If anything he was just waiting to see what happened and consider what actions he could do to provide the best result. To see who's hope was strongest. It was obviously not the killers, but who of the residents would show true potential? It was a great question to consider.]

Prayers don't solve anything. Thoughts don't do anything. One has to take an action. Sitting around and praying is just standing to the side.

Also, what side would you say you fall under? Are you for their hope? Or for your own? Right now there are a lot of different perspectives and a lot of different desires.

[You're a pretty passive kid, who tend to stay on the side until you decide which side is the strongest. Doesn't make you weak. Just indecisive.]

I am more for their hope, and teaching love and tolerance as a pathway to peace, as that is the more right way to win people's hearts. Not many agree with me. I'll try to defend my stand. Change doesn't happened in a single day, thought.

[ More waiting to see who was more desperate. Hope always favored the weak, those who are losing always fight harder for hope. ]

I admire your dedication then. I agree discussing and coming to understand one another is best, living peacefully would be the favored outcome.

Yet... it's the hardest to achieve.

[The kid has a strange way of talking...but that's all right. He seems more analytical of the situation than most.]

So, you would rather stand by and just watch for now? I think that's all right.

I don't mind being involved in discussion either. But, I don't know how much trash like me can contribute.

[ And if something happened that would prompt him to feel a need to take action, he would. Hopefully nothing would prompt h8m, it was always better the less Nagito was involved in something. ]

I don't think you're trash. I just think you're young and choose not to take a side. And I think that's okay. It's the politics that is trash.

Anyway, is there anything you like besides politics?

[What a nice sentiment, though it doesn't change his ideas. He knew what he was, but others didn't have to understand it.]

I wouldn't say I like politics, I just want to see a world full of Hope. As for things I like, there's plenty, books, movies, music, clothes, seeing new sights, the list could go on.

[Hope. Dreams. Love. Very sentimental and ephemeral feelings. You want to see who has the most of it, and it's usually those crushed by despair and those who can't see the future.

But Abel smiled anyway.]

Even if I have interests it doesn't make me interesting. The only thing worth anything is my luck, and that's a rather low tier talent.

[He loved hope more than anything, and he was more than willing to foster despair to allow a greater more powerful hope to shine through.]

[Ibuki had skipped past the public portion of Nagito's message, once she'd twigged that it was little more than his usual ramblings on hope and despair, the same type of speech that had seen him tied up and shut in a barely-used building for a stretch because no-one had known what else to do with him.

She's not entirely sure she even wants to respond to him now. There's still that question mark hanging over what he'd said last time, vague speak that had hinted towards truths she's not sure should be uncovered. But at the same time...

He's going to investigate whether she agrees or not. And something in the methodology of what she'd read rings familiar enough that she can't quite let it lie.]

I saw. Who knew there was someone just as bad as whoever's behind Monokuma-chan around here. But...what sort of investigating did you have in mind?

[She's still pretty set on that not dying again plan.]

I want to understand more about the incident and what is going on over there. I want to find out who is doing it and what else might be happening.

[He had to know, he didn't feel comfortable not having more pieces of it.]

I don't know enough to understand how it all fits together.

You think it could spread outside of Everglade?

[Ibuki hasn't dug too deeply into the politics of everything but she does know Everglade has a reputation for being dangerous even without the vigilante. And it doesn't even really concern her, if non-humans are the targets.

But maybe that's just the beginning. Ironic punishment is still too familiar a concept for her to rule it out.]

But...whoever it is, they're pretty strong. And they might not like us digging too deeply. What if he finds us and we're not ready for him?

It's a possibility, but as long as it's divided in this way I doubt it. At worse it will put use, the people brought here, against each other. Since humans and regular humans are not the only people here.

[It wouldn't be unreasonable to consider it escalating to the point of causing a divide. Not that it was a concern of his. He didn't really care if it went that far. He just didn't like this person's methods. They weren't fighting for any reason, there wasn't a belief of hope he could feel behind their actions. It was just hate and thus despair.]

Oh I wouldn't worry about that. I doubt they would come after us, after all it would completely undermine their narrative. Anyway, I'm sure if they did, things would work out.

For you, maybe. Ibuki's not so keen on biting it again, though.

[And yes it would go against the apparent narrative but that's not quite enough for Ibuki to trust in their safety. It's only a small step from fighting non-humans to fighting anyone who supports them and Ibuki isn't knowingly invested enough in any non-humans on a personal enough level to let that carry her.

Which makes her wonder.]

Unless...is there someone Nagito-chan is worried about?

I haven't talked to anyone enough to worry about someone else.

[And all the people he talked to weren't natives, and since they weren't natives they couldn't die permanently. There was no reason to worry about anyone on that level.]

But consider this Mioda san. What environment would it be like if this person continues like this? Wouldn't it just be similar to that bear causing discomfort and uncertainty?

[It was a clear start of a path to despair.]

And, a murder happened, isn't it sensible to investigate and find the killer?

[Somehow, that doesn't surprise her. Nagito always has been something of a loner, though Ibuki hasn't ever put much thought into how much of that is him avoiding others vs others avoiding him.

He has a point, of course. Despair might not be the aim but it's certainly a viable outcome, its reach being felt already. She's just not sure what difference they can make.

But...it's not like there's going to be a class trial, right? So...isn't it better to leave it to the people who know what they're doing?

[Even after two class trials, that someone is not Ibuki and she knows it.]

There is a guardian of that city as well as a mayor, they have some sort of judicial process. So wouldn't it be helpful to have information to give them if they try and push a case?

[Not that his goal was for that purpose, simply if that situation arose it would be useful to know.]

But, even so, it feels wrong to just sit back and wait.

[He can't help but sigh.]

Hinata kun would go investigate.

[He sighed again.]

It's only to be expected though. Don't worry about it.

Maybe...

[He's making sense, she can't even deny that. But she's not and never has been one of the more skilled investigators of the Jabberwock Island group, beyond what she'd remembered hearing in the first case, and with all that's happened since, she can't help but want to steer clear of anything resembling what they went through.

She sighs at the mention of Hajime. Probably he would investigate - he'd been one of the stronger driving forces behind the last two cases, and he'd been good at it. But Hajime's not here and while she appreciates why Nagito might have asked her, she can't commit to this.

And it's not like she doesn't have good reason for it.]

Nagito-chan...I'm tired of all that stuff. We did what we had to on the island but...it's not wrong to not want to do that any more, is it? To want to go back to a normal life...is that really so bad to want?

[She's not really asking him to validate her. She knows there's no point. But she feels a little like she has to explain herself even so.]

It's predictable. But as they say, you can never go back. You don't have to explain yourself though. I'm sure it's the sort of thing that would be described as perfectly normal.

But, there are things that need to be kept aware of here. Even if our lives aren't in danger....

Hmm, if you think about it, it's almost worse, isn't it? To not be able to die. To return over and over, that's supposedly what happens here.

Well, I'll just apologize for having distracted you.

[He wasn't particularly disappointed, he had expected as much in fact. But, it was worth trying, because in all honesty he didn't really want to wander around alone. In fact he hadn't expected her to even do anything in particular. Perhaps he should have saved the embarrassment of it.]

[She's not going to reply. But she's pretty sure between the paper and that last little thought of his, she's going to have a rough few nights ahead of her, sleep-wise.]

[It just wouldn't be a conversation with Nagito if it ended without something unsettling left on the mind.]
