I am in search for a more permanent form of residence. Perhaps an apartment with 4 bedrooms would suffice. Genessia city would be a welcome location, though other more remote locations are fine.

I am skilled when it comes to providing basic medical treatments and I am a fast learner. I can also provide tactics and battle training to anyone who can offer payment for my services.

Ah, it's about third from the absolute bottom. Very limited responsibilities, no real experience, but able to swing a sword without almost chopping off their own limb. There's truth to your point, but it's really best to teach someone how to hold a sword before ripping out their major organs for not blocking properly.

How many ranks are there in your world?

[After all, third from the bottom does not sound bad if the total ranks to be acquired was 5.]

Perhaps so. But fear is a great teacher. It digs into your very core. No skill can be too hard if your life depended on it.

In the Monarchy there were fourteen, though one of them could only be held by one person. Some militaries divided their branches into specialties and had different ranking systems but having four different branches with twenty to thirty ranks in each seems rather redundant to me.

[A slight pause.]

We regenerate. I was serious about getting organs ripped out or limbs cut off after making a mistake in training.

That's a lot of ranks then. What are the qualifications to increase your rank? Does your military hold exams on a regular basis? How long have you been a Sergeant?

I think that would be fine. For as long as the resulting recruit or official would be efficient in battle, then no pain is too much.

For an entire country it's actually fairly few, at least back home. We never separated air, ground, or water forces into separate branches like many did. As for advancement it was a combination of experience, skill, temperament, talent, and motivation. Rising through the first five ranks was more like going through school. The first rank usually took a year or two, second was the same, Sergeant was generally when one started switching from learning the basics and moving into a specialty so time spent as a Sergeant could last only a few months or a few decades.

[She paused again to try and remember how long it took her.]

I think... I was Sergeant for a month. I was a bit of a special case so some of the usual steps were skipped over. It took me about six years to go from third to twelfth.

You mentioned you are a Sergeant, what is your specialty then if you don't mind me asking?

[Curious. That is still a lot of ranks in Temari's opinion.]

Third to twelfth? What does that mean?

I don't mind, it was hardly a secret at home. My specialties are tactics, information, and telling people what to do. And I was a Sergeant a long time ago... It might be easier if I converted that into a human lifespan.

[After a few moments of calculations...]

With a natural lifespan of seventy to one hundred years, I went from learning 'hold a knife at this end' to highest rank below ruling individual in less than two years. By the third year I was the highest ranking person of my species and in charge of both the continued survival of the Bloodline as well as the extermination of the previous ruler. With my heritage though... Well, I'll live at least another six or seven thousand years unless something actually manages to kill me. Which is difficult to imagine.

[Temari listens to her every word intently. This was a curious person and Temari had every intention of knowing more at some point. But at the moment, the woman tendered quite an amount of valuable information. She can see her as a great potential ally, or a huge threat.]

[One thing was for certain, Temari had to do everything to make sure this woman won't be a threat to her or her little brother.]
