Oi! I'm not sure what's going on, but if I'm here that means I'm not in the tower from hell anymore.

[His memories of being outside of the tower had no resemblance to this outside. There were no floors like this, and he was almost certain this was a completely different world from his own and the tower's. He's not even sure if he had his own body, but that was unimportant to the bigger picture. He was clueless to his new situation, and if what friends he had left at Animus were even alive.]

Any one from Animus here? Do you know what happened?

[Everything was falling apart, thats all he could remember before waking up here.]

If your friends are not present at this time, there is a possibility they will arrive later. Providing their names and descriptions would be beneficial.

[He is curious about this tower, because it sounds similar to his experience at the facility. And then there were those individuals who came from a hotel in a place called California. There is definitely a pattern to their arrivals.]

This world is presumably safer than your most recent location.

[Giving names out like that might not be safe for his friends either, so Jounouchi wasn't going to risk their safety over his curiosity. They were the last three he had.]

[That sort of information might not sound like something big to this stranger, but it was a huge thing where he's from.]

It was...falling apart. [They might not even be alive, and it was him who was revived again, only in a different place altogether.]

I've seen friends who left the tower, but they're different versions of the ones I knew.

[But if this place was safer, he might not have to be on guard all the time.]

[Gaara notices that cautious effort, and decides not to press any further. He is a ninja, after all. He comprehends the necessity of discretion.]

Mmm. You should monitor the network frequently. If your friends arrive, you will be able to establish communication with the device.

[Different versions... Gaara nods, again with understanding.]

That was... an unexpected factor. Some memories weren't meant to last, I suppose.

[He'll take a random shift in mood to try and lighten the situation. It wasn't like Jounouchi to dwell on the negative, so he would try to make an effort to be positive.]

If the memories caused them pain, then I'm happy they don't remember them. It was miserable in the tower, so if it means they don't know about it. I guess I can live with that.

You can create new memories with them. They still remember the bond that you shared, correct?

[Because being forgotten would be painful.]

No. They forgot everything, but it's probably for the better.

[Gaara smirks a little in amusement. The civilian life seems so simple. They have far fewer worries than shinobi.]

We must first confirm the absence of said bastards. [He remarks with a straight face.] It's unlikely we were taken here without a specific purpose. The illusion of freedom could be a tactic of manipulation.

[They do. Jounouchi never took a warrior's duty for granted to though. Those same warriors would always have his thanks.]

[He feels a bit impressed by this show of courage. Humans can be so fragile, from his past experiences with them.]

[Gaara blinks in confusion. He doesn't understand all slang terms, and considering his interaction with Deidara...]

Back in the tower, the admins would show up every now and then, but they never went out of their way. I won't be surprised if it's the same here.

To communicate with the captives? [Sounds like the Doctors.] They would need some method to convey their intentions.

[Whoops, his social ineptitude is showing.]

I see. [Wow. He was way off the mark there.] That is an admirable trait. Remaining passive is akin to resignation.

When they did contact us, most of the time it was through the networking system. That was unreliable form of communication, but people still used them anyway. The anonymous discussions on it got really heated at times.

[He's use to such a thing.]

Just because they have the power to play with lives doesn't mean they have the satisfaction.
