"Gotta make a living somehow." Which isn't really a criticism, more insinuation of a reality he wonders if she might not have faced before now. It's already clear that her world must be different to his, because she is different to anything he's seen, so it doesn't seem to strange to think that maybe her economy is different, too.

Hard to think of that being anything other than what Rude's always known, but then nothing about having been brought here can really be considered to be normal to his mind.

Though she sighs, Rude doesn't seem at all surprised by her response. Indeed, his tone reflects that with what little inflection it gives. "I found the same. Makes me wonder what they don't want us knowing."

Not that he wants to seed paranoia in anyone else, but he can't help but find it suspicious.
