[Action]
[Action: Holodeck'd]
[A session of training just like all the rest. Karla spars with a bunch of illusionary swordsmen, parrying their blows with her blade seamlessly, as if it were a dance. That was about all she was doing, however; she wasn't actually trying to land a strike. Nor were they trying to strike her.
When the exercise ended, the scene faded, leaving her standing in an empty room. Karla looks down at her blade, almost in disappointment. The swordplay just isn't giving her any satisfaction. Not that it ever did. She isn't improving with her training; she's only keeping her skill from withering. She had only one reason for keeping up the sword, and that reason just doesn't exist in Genessia. She looks up again...how appropriate that she's standing in a room that's as empty as her heart.]
[Action: Colosseum]
[Training in the Attleton Colosseum isn't much different from Holodeck'd. The only difference being that her opponents were real, and not nearly as challenging as the Holodeck'd. After claiming her victory there, Karla takes a moment to ponder in the center of the arena, her face blank. There's no satisfaction here either, so she'll turn and begin to leave. Catch her on the way out, or just outside?]

Colosseum
Sakura isn't one to be nosy, but she is certainly one to be curious. As she slowed to a stop, she was close enough to notice a blank expression on her face. She is sure there is nothing a little 9 year old like her can do for a stranger, though.]

Hello...are you coming to fight in the Colosseum as well?
[It seems like a silly question, but one never knows in Genessia.]
no subject
"No, no, no... I was on my way home and my route takes me by here. You're the first person I saw leaving this place."
no subject
[She offers a different smile now, like a mother would give to her child.]
Do you need someone to walk with you? It seems odd for children to walk by themselves...
no subject
[She doesn't go alone either unless she was late.]
"Um, it's just that I don't want to get too far ahead of you."
[Action: Colosseum]
You were great out there. [he praises, giving a smile that might almost be considered a smirk.] Where'd you learn to fight like that?
no subject
[Karla is all too familiar with those kinds of smirks. Usually it was the smirks of men who thought they could best her. Or the smirk of a man with malicious intentions. Either way, they'd be KOed just as quickly as her Colosseum opponents if they tried anything.]
[As the man praised her, she gave him an innocent smile.]
I learned the basic strokes from my brother. From there, I evolved it into my own style in my travels.
no subject
Your brother taught you well then. [He actually kinda wants to ask her to duel, wants to test her strength. It's been awhile since he's had a good match.] And where have you traveled to that gave you those skills?
no subject
Yes, I watched him when I was little, admiring his strokes. No one can swing a sword as beautifully as he can...
[The way she talks about him sounds like she's completely enamored with him. She goes to pondering at where she's traveled. The real question was, where has she not traveled by now?]
Let's see...I've visited all the major territories of Elibe - Pherae, Ostia, Caelin, Laus, and Bern. I've even traveled all the way to the Western Isles. I've visited all the arenas, trying to find him...
action; colosseum
Why was there such a place here.]
It's such an odd thing to have in a city.
no subject
Really? It doesn't seem odd to me...
no subject
[But the buildings weren't in the same style that she knew of anyway, but she guess she could put it down to that.]
But I guess it's purpose is more what baffles me as to why.
no subject
As for the purpose, many of us find it important to have a place to hone our battle skills. I,for one, am grateful to have it here.
no subject
[Oh, so that is why some people seem to enjoy it, guess it was just her that didn't get it. Or didn't have the need to really.]
So fighting and honing your battle skills is something you enjoy?
no subject
[She pauses at the other question, though.]
I don't really enjoy fighting...but it's still an important skill for me.
no subject
[After all if she had to fight here, she only needed one reason. She just wondered what other reasons there were in this world.]
no subject
no subject
[Not reasons she would use t fight in this world anyway. But it reminded her of someone who would probably do that.]
I guess you had to find that reason since you mentioned your original reason was soemthing else completely.
Holodeck'd
You don't look like you had too much from.
She'll go with "fun."
[Karla turns to him, startled, like a child caught with her hand in the cookie jar.]
Oh, David...hardly. It doesn't seem like I'm gaining anything. But then again, is there anything to be gained in learning these skills that are used for violence?
no subject
Not to mention I'm sure it's good exercise.
no subject
[She thinks of all the fighters she's encountered here, both good and bad. Is she the only one who fights without special abilities?]
no subject
no subject
Blaze...I can't say I've had the honor of meeting him...
[But if a man without abilities was elected City Guardian, it serves as further proof that Guardianship is more than actual fighting. It leaves Karla wondering even more, as fighting is the only thing she's good for...or so she thinks.]
[Without looking at David, she decides to get into what's on her mind.]
David...could I...ask you something?
no subject
Sure. You can ask me anything.
no subject
Well...um...
[It feels like a shameful question to ask. It might make her sound ungrateful, and she doesn't want to come across that way.]
I'm just curious...why did you accept me as a Deputy Guardian?
no subject
no subject
Well...
[Of course there was something else bringing this about. Karla sighs, running a hand through her hair as she collects her thoughts.]
There is something... When I inquired about special abilities, one of the people who responded was a young man. He seemed to see right through me, just as you had. It was like he knew me better than I knew myself. He said that you must have seen something amazing in me to offer me the position. If that's true, I have yet to see it for myself.
...So that's why I was curious...
no subject
Case and point, you wanting some sort of power that can help you accomplish that. So I think that's why you wanted to run, even if you didn't realize it. And that's why I offered you a Deputy Guardian position, to help put you in a place where you could do that. And I don't regret that choice.
no subject
[Karla gives a small smile at the answer.]
It is true. Even if I don't get personally attached to people, they are still innocent. Like the things that Battler did to me and the others...no one deserves that.
I'm glad I haven't disappointed you so far...but I still have much to learn. It's not just special powers that make the Guardian, especially if someone like Blaze was able to get elected. For the enemies I can't fight directly, I'll have to think of other ways...
...And to think...none of this would have happened if Roman Torchwick hadn't nominated me...
[Karla took a second to giggle at the irony.]

So if it's a big and drastic change that you have in your mind to make, you give it deep thought and get advice before doing it.
no subject
[She ponders for another moment. It almost sounds like big decisions aren't really necessary, but one never knows in this world.]
If it were me, I wouldn't want to make any "big and drastic" changes. I like to keep things simple...as simple as possible, anyway.
no subject
no subject
All right. I suppose I'll just keep doing what I can, and then come to you for the "big things."
