NEWSPAPER - BIWEEKLY EDITION

[Did you subscribe to The Genessia Tribune? Did you even remotely wish you had a newspaper or some other form of media to refer to for news, weather, and current events? Then you're in luck! There's a paperboy riding through the streets of Genessia flinging newspapers onto doorsteps or, if you're unlucky, through your window. Even remote locations in the other cities will still get a paper if one of the residents ever wanted one. The Paperboy is just that dedicated.]
[And if you're one of the following people, and you happen to subscribe to the newspaper, the Paperboy may or may not have flung the newspaper through that person's window, at the person, and/or broke something in the area: Karla, Will Stanton, Blair, Wade Wilson, Desmond Miles, Xander, Liora, Nora Valkyrie.]

Fayren Unearthed Pt5: Encroaching Darkness
New ruins have been discovered in Fayren. A group of mages from a magic guild in Fayren were out exploring when they came across the ruins. Only when they broke the seal upon the ruins did they feel the magic permeating through the place.
Sadly, only one mage was able to return to give us the account of then findings. It wasn't long after entering the place that they were besieged by the creatures inside.
Some came from the explorers very own shadows and killed and devoured them. The only mage to survive received severe injuries before escaping. It has been reported that since the opening of the ruins, the area around it has been blanketed in darkness, even when the sun is high in the sky. This darkness seems to be slowly spreading, however it is not at an alarming rate.
However, whereas in earlier ruins, the monsters have been confined to the inside, this one seems to be unique in that the monsters can roam in any area that is blanketed in the spreading darkness. Extra precaution should be given when approaching the ruins for this very reason.
It is believed that this place's magic was sealed for so long, that now that it is free, it's spreading. But it will eventually recede and be contained in one place. Still, precautions are being set in place.
These are the first ruins to have restricted access placed upon them. And this is done so for the safety of the public. While before, people were free to roam them, this one requires a level of access.
As always, merchants and archaeologist are offering to pay for items that explorers find and bring to them. Signing a contract with one of these groups gains you the access needed to explorer. The contact itself is your standard liability waiver and promise to turn over whatever treasure you find for payment. The area surrounding the ruins is blocked off by the city guard.
November Parade
A parade will be held in Nova City this November 24th. It was initially started by the creator of Aster Technologies as a way of showing off their upcoming vehicles among other technologies. It quickly grew when other companies started to join in and now it has grown enough that many businesses join in, regardless of if they specialize in technology, entertain, music, ect.
A representative of Aster Technologies has said that many companies have already signed up. Fama Talent Agency has stated that they will be providing live acts with their own artists throughout the duration of the concert, with one big final act at the end.

Submissions for the Next Paper!

Title: Goblins get jobs! No longer net loss on society? Exclusive interview with new chief!
Info: Set up for Smithy's new workshop and subsequent society-wide shanghai of goblins in Fayren
While people of all shapes and sizes mingle freely in Fayren, there are many other races that aren't so welcome. Goblins are one of the most well-known persona-non-grata among the populace, and for good reason. Missing horses, looted pantries, and rumors of infants disappearing into the night provide plenty of reason why Fayren should forever close its doors to these good-for-nothing monsters. However, rumor has it that a new chief may turn things around for this centuries-old conflict. Can this upstart leader really usher in a new age for goblin kind? Find out in this Q:A from none other than yours truly, Baron Rembrandt!
Baron: First of all, I want to say what an honor it is to be invited all the way out here in your mountain cave, surrounded by nigh-impenetrable motes of lava and mountain paths far too confusing and treacherous to navigate.
Chief: Please, the pleasure is all mine. I trust your goblin guide was helpful?
Baron: Very! He even got me a tissue when I sneezed. Asked me to beat him if I was unsatisfied in any way.
Chief: Were you?
Baron: He did smell a little.
Chief: We'll have to have another heart-to-heart. You'll have to forgive him, bathing is something I'm STILL trying to educate them about.
Baron: You've certainly got your work cut out for you! I have to admit, not in my wildest dreams did I ever think stinking goblins could become civilized. How did you do it?
Chief: It wasn't easy! Brutes like them only understand strength, so I had to show them who's boss. Once they learned a little discipline, it didn't take long for them to fall in line.
Baron: True, I hear trial by combat is how they pick their leaders.
Chief: You can tell what a disaster THAT was! Can you imagine, picking your chief just cause he beat up the last one? Talk about thuggish!
Baron: But isn't that how you came to power?
Chief: Oh my, no. I used diplomacy.
Baron: And that worked?
Chief: The proof is in the pudding!
Baron: And how! I'm surprised how drastically you've changed things in such a short time. Where did you come from, Mr...oh, I don't even know your name.
Chief: It's not important; when you become chief, you just go by "chief" anyway. Most goblins can barely remember their OWN names, let alone mine!
Baron: They are pretty stupid. And yet somehow, you've managed to instill a sense of service that I haven't seen in...ever!
Chief: True, working with less-than-room-temperature IQs is a constant struggle, but I'm sure they'll follow in my footsteps given time. Who knows, one day they might even perform basic addition and subtraction.
Baron: Wouldn't that be something! Well, education is all well and good, but they're still eking out a miserable life in the dangerous wasteland of The Maw, aren't they? What's their future?
Chief: I'm glad you asked! Yes, some would say a place as unforgiving and dangerous as this is a perfect place for barbarians like them, and they'd be right, BUT! I don't see pointless death and meaningless violence. I see POTENTIAL! The Maw is home to a cornucopia--that means "place with a lot of neat stuff" for you dimwits out there--
Baron: My readers will appreciate that.
Chief: Anyway, it's home to a lot of precious resources that we goblins are uniquely equipped to extract. And until I came along, they were too busy infighting to get it! But that's all in the past. Now, with our evolved sense of direction, hardiness, and grit, we'll be up to our elbows in riches from deep beneath the earth!
Baron: Sounds like a plan, Stan.
Chief: Please, call me "Chief."
Baron: Right, sorry Chief. Still, organizing a chronically lazy and idiotic populace into doing something useful sounds hard enough. Are you seriously suggesting you'll be able to trade with others too? You're crazy!
Chief: That's what they always say about geniuses! True, I can't erase all the wrongs goblins have inflicted on the good people of Fayren. It's pretty nasty stuff. I could really go on all day about it.
Baron: I'll bet.
Chief: But what I CAN do is make a good-faith offering; something to show Fayren that we've turned over a new leaf. The loincloth-wearing, yellow-toothed savages you knew are a thing of the past. From now on, it's hard-working, nose-to-the-grindstone industry for them.
Baron: Wow, turning good-for-nothing goblins into productive members of society. You're a true visionary, chief.
Chief: I know, but it's nice to hear anyway.
Baron: Now, what's this offering you have in store?
Chief: It took a while, but we finally have something to show for our efforts. In fact, we've just shipped a box of the stuff, free of charge, to Fayren.
Baron: To everyone?
Chief: No, just the nobility. The common folk wouldn't really appreciate our handiwork.
Baron: True, no one ever went broke underestimating the taste of peasants.
Chief: As a matter of fact, I've got something for you too!
(He presented me with a gorgeous hunk of diamond. Just what I've always wanted!)
Baron: I don't know what to say. Beautiful things like this have been beneath the surface all this time? And goblins were too short-sighted and craven to find it?
Chief: Until now! There will be a lot more where that came from. But we need help. Even as amazing as my intellect is, I still can't surmount the CONSIDERABLE mistrust our people have engendered.
Baron: Sounds tricky. What's your next bright idea?
Chief: We need to lengthen the supply chain, of course! What we need are kind souls who can transport our goods all across the world.
Baron: Wow! So you plan to reinvigorate the goblin economy not just with Fayren, but the entire world?
Chief: That's right! Why shouldn't the entirety of Genessia get the opportunity to sample our wares? But the archways pose a problem. None of the goblins, no matter how much I've tried, can get through them. And we still have a--very well-earned, mind you--stigma in the hearts and minds of Fayren itself.
Baron: So you need some outreach to spread the good word, and the goods themselves?
Chief: Exactly!
Baron: Well I'll certainly do my part! Chief, it's been a rare privilege talking with such a distinguished and handsome leader like yourself. I'm confident that if people just give you a chance, they'll see that goblins aren't the awful degenerates we all know and loathe. Any final thoughts you'd like to share?
Chief: Fawn is a hack.
Baron: She really is, isn't she? Well, this is Baron Rembrandt, signing off.
