A few holidays are coming up.

( there was the whole altercation with the bulk of the populace of genessia turning into various monsters, but that had ended at least a week ago, much to shiemi’s relief. she wondered how the events of november and december would pan out for others; and she was curious for their opinions. )

I wonder if we’ll get anymore unpleasant surprises. ( a beat. ) Even so, this just might be my first Christmas here. I know it’s kind of early to be talking about that, but thinking about it now makes me excited for the near future.

I just really like eggnog! And presents! So fun!

I've never celebrated either holiday in my life. Eggnog is delightful, though, and I'm looking forward for the first snowfall.

Not particularly. I do want to do a cool secret Santa type of thing. It’s a game where a random person is picked, and they have to buy you a present!

…most presents aren’t really good, but it’s the thought that counts.

But that idea is just that, an idea. Not sure if I want to go through with it.

Explain? I know what presents are. But eggnog? Christmas? Exciting? What happens?

Eggnog is a seasonal drink that tastes really sweet, sometimes spicy. It’s really tasty with cookies!

Christmas is a holiday where you get presents from friends and family! You also give presents, too! During Christmas, you can drink eggnog, too!

It’s really exciting to see what people will give you, and to have fun with the people you care about.

Forgive me, I have never heard of Christmas before -- I do not believe there is such a holiday in my home. Can you tell me what it is?

It’s a really fun holiday where you give your loved ones presents! And they give you gifts too! It’s called the “gift of giving.”

There’s Christmas trees that you can decorate and they put the presents underneath the tree! And mistletoe… ( a soft blush as she clears her throat. ) …and just a lot of fun spending quality time with those you truly care about. Eating, singing Christmas carols, and just overall looking over the happy times of the year that you remember fondly with people you love!

[ She pauses in her thought, though the hesitation at mistletoe doesn't escape her notice. Why, though... ]

What of mistletoe? And the tree? Just what significance do those hold?

Uhm … well, you hang mistletoes on the ceilings, or on, like, doors. If two people are under the mistletoe, the two have to … k-kiss. On the lips.

( she can’t believe she’s explaining this … )

And you can’t not kiss them. I think I heard it brings bad luck or something.

I don’t really believe in all that. I know how presents are really delivered.

( however she knew in jack’s world santa claus was actually a real being; and he was good friends with him. shiemi wouldn’t say that he didn’t exist, however. )

Beats me. I'll probably see if any half-decent parties are going on, scope those out.

I hope not if I have to be honest. I mean sometimes we do get a break and I don't really recall anything bad happening last year around this time.

It went okay, I didn't have as many friends as I do now though, but it was still okay. But this yeah it will be more fun.

Oh, yes, we have a holiday for each month except December. This month would be the Rockbreaker's Ceremony where I come from...

A holiday where you give presents to your friends, and you get presents too! It’s mostly for celebrating the end of the year, bonding with people you really care about.
