Ninth Reel: Overtime [ACTION]
Garden Park
[After turning into a bird for two weeks and then things going back to “normal”, Grell was feeling anything but normal. Being a reaper gave her lots of freedom, but being a harpy was on a whole ‘nother level. Also, now she has a dog which she rescued from being hurt by a bunch of thugs. Now it was recovering pretty well, and she’s now taking it for a walk in the park.
Grell is easy to spot, but it’s obvious that she’s preoccupied with other thoughts. Her dog, meanwhile, is preoccupied with relieving itself. She realizes only when it tries to walk away, having the reasoning to look down and see that she needs to clean up after it. She really needs to teach it to use a toilet! Or just get a cat.]
Honestly, don’t you have any dignity? [Is this her new life? Cleaning up dog droppings?
As if she could stay mad at the happy face it gives her.]
Genessia
[Grell is putting in extra hours for her absence while being a harpy to help set up the security at the new nightclub that should open soon. She needs to set up cameras, microphones, computer systems, and maybe even a few lasers.
Okay, maybe not lasers, but she’s definitely considering that option. For now, strobe lights will have to do.
At the moment, she’s installing a hand and eye scanner with a tablet. It’s quiet work, which she doesn’t mind. The less distractions, the better.]
Fayren
[A fire breaks out at a small tavern in Everglade amidst a fight breaking out. Among those fighting is a black clad woman with a chainsaw taking on a crowd. A one of those that challenged her after a heated argument are now on the floor, lifeless. The woman looked around the crowd behind goggles and sneered at them all.]
Humans are the worst. [The voice, calm yet cold, spoke to the crowd surrounding her.] You can’t even have a simple argument without someone resorting to violence to win.
[One man moved to strike at her with a broken bottle from behind, only to be met with a quick end to his charge. The woman made a diagonal motion with her weapon so quick that it seemed as if there wasn’t a direct hit at all.
Not even a moment passes before the man is in two bloody messes on the floor. The other patrons either backed away in fear, or shouted in anger. Not at the man being killed, but at the audacity that a human would go as low as strike someone from behind. They were obviously not human by their skin pallor and reaction. Soon, a brawl began as sides were set, the situation turning into human versus non-human or undead.
Well, Phase One is going as planned.
The woman slips out during the chaos and onto the streets, chainsaw resting on her shoulder as she texts while walking.]

Genessia City - Night
Gale would eventually wander in with a binder of various notes under his arm, making sure to step around any stray cables that may not have been set up yet. He peered in on where Grell was currently working, tipping his sunglasses.]
Well hey there. How're things goin' in here?
[Please don't tell him you put piranhas in the water under the dance floor.]
no subject
Hearing the footsteps doesn't make Grell turn around. It's not until Gale speaks that she does so, saving her work so far.]
So far, so good. The fingerprint scanner will be functional soon, then I'll adjust the cameras. [She points to one of them, which is quite small and hard to find if one didn't know where to look.] You wanted more than ten, right? Twenty?
[Twenty still seems like a low number to her. Paranoia....]
no subject
Damn, even I wouldn't have known that one was there unless you pointed it out. I knew I asked the right lady for the job.
[He looked over his shoulder, seeming a bit puzzled.]
Twenty? I figured maybe six would be fine. I mean, this place is smaller than After Life.
[Not by much, but it didn't have the VIP room like After Life did, so it seemed considerably smaller in comparison.]
no subject
Indeed, you did.
[Grell takes a look around as well at the soon to be club.] Perhaps we could install six and have a few extra on hand should we find that we need more. [Her gaze turns back to Gale.] Better to have them than not and end up waiting on a backorder.
[Her attention then turns to the binder under his arm.]
You're not here just to check on things, right?
no subject
Good call. I wouldn't have thought to have 'em on hand if necessary. You've done this before, haven't you?
[Sounds like something he oughta do at After Life too. That area is way shadier than this little spot in Genessia City.
He looks down at the binder then, taking it in hand and waving it in the air.]
On just you, no. This is just to keep track of what's already here and what I still need to do. Particularly in makin' sure the equipment and inventory is already here and set.
no subject
[It isn't difficult to do, and she probably had to do some in the courses she took. He really should consider doing the same at After Life.]
So far, four cameras are installed, two are waiting, the hand scanner for the back room is in progress, and computers one and two are set up but not linked to the net. I want to strengthen the firewalls before connecting.
[She looks over at the pile of equipment she went through and hadn't installed yet.]
Am I missing anything?
no subject
[Not that he was calling her a thief. Or maybe she was, he doesn't know. He doesn't know what kind of pirating she and her buddies got up to, but she and Marco were pretty reliable at After Life.]
Don't think so. Sounds like you've got everything covered. Guess that means I can give ya a pass for missin' work for two weeks.
[He said teasingly with a wink for emphasis. He gets why she missed it, but it still gave him something to tease her about.]
no subject
[Can he hear those gears turning in her head?]
You will, hmm~? So~...
[Grell gives him a cheeky grin.]
If I do more work I can earn a week off?
Everglade - Action
Still, now what the reaper has been up to? Oh starting another fight. They were outside the tavern. While his maids look at the sight with fright and if anything, slight disapproval at the violence as they consider themselves as Everglade citizens (they are created by the Everglade spirits), they backed away in fear, mostly by the sight of the fire, hoping Sebastian will protect them.
With some humor.]
Now I wondered who started the fire?
no subject
You will have to ask them. [She nods her head towards the blaze.] I've had my fill.
[Her voice lacks the usual inflection, and her accent is downplayed. It's also much more even.]
no subject
Ah, as usual.
[But still...the fire.]
That fire can spread to the other homes, you know? Perhaps we can help put it out until the firemen gets here?
no subject
Grell has to resist the strong urge to huff irritably and roll her eyes behind those goggles she's wearing. Instead, she just puts away the chainsaw and turns back towards the blaze.
...actually she hasn't the foggiest as to how to contain a fire besides just putting water on it. But they'll need a lot of water. Starting fires is her forte, not stopping them.]
Where should we start?
no subject
[He's curious to why Sebastian wants it put out... other than the obvious trying to curtail mass mayhem and destruction.]
[Meanwhile, he's basically sitting on a burning roof like a gargoyle.]
[He'll kick back beams to keep it from spreading, and get anyone out as needed, but he's not interested in putting the fire out.]
no subject
...even if they're several yards away from the source of the fire and not in apparent danger of getting burned.
Sebastian is acting pretty much on the principle of being a gentleman. And he didn't see why not? He's bored. And a good rationale? Curtail mass mayhem and destruction, most likely.
Anyway, he gave his maids his burden of the supplies, and went around to look for any sources of water. He found a fire hydrant, which he kicked open and water gushing out, and he used a pair of bucket to stop the fire from growing it.
It's actually kinda fun for a while until at last, the fire brigade arrives and they are able to take care of the fire themselves.]
Well, that's a relief. Honestly.
no subject
The fire hydrant is convenient, and she takes the opportunity to take the bucket to the flames and went to use it for dousing the flames from the inside. It's all she could really do.
She definitely noticed something blue from the corner of her eyes, but made no motion to acknowledge it. Or rather...him. She makes several trips, and the flames seem like they aren't getting bigger and are subsiding only slightly. Progress, really. Once the fire brigades arrived on scene, she let them do their job and started to slip into the growing crowd, not wanting much else to do with the scene. ]
[Genessia] I AINT'T EVEN SORRY
[ENJOYING IT?]
[ALONE IN THE DARK?]
[Marco has muffled his haki so that it gives off very little resonance, though he's not sure if that translates as well to her death reaper senses...]
[AND JUMPS OUT!!!! Wearing this mask! OOGIE BOOGIE!]
[Genessia] WHAT THE FRACK, MARCO?!
but then she GOES TO PUNCH HIM IN THE FACE AS A REFLEX!!!]
[Genessia] Best/worst husband?
[And holds up a blue wing so he can take off the mask after the punch.]
[STILL LAUGHING.]
[Genessia] more of the latter than the former right now!!
She looks ready to take that smile off his face!!]
What in the Hell is your problem?! And what's with that mask?!
[Genessia] lmao
Surprise!
[LAUGHS SOME MORE.]
[Genessia]
She huffs and goes to calm down her dog.]
Don't worry, Copper. The silly chicken is harmless.
[Copper wags his tail as he gets ear scritches! Yes, that sort of distraction is just what he needs!]
[Genessia]
[Bites her neck.]
[Genessia]
Shameless. [She says once they part, but it's the part of him that she loves.]
[Genessia]
[He knows.]
[Genessia]
I can't deny that.
[Grell takes up the leash, which she dropped in her fright.]
So what brings you here? Just to show off your latest mask?
