[Old habits were hard to break. Even with Dean and his mom making sure that she stays well fed, it kind of makes her sick to see so much good food being thrown away after the holidays. Half a turkey here, a bowl of stuffing or pudding there...and she'd gone to bed hungry so many nights.
People will probably see a little girl that doesn't look older than seven slinking around to trashcans and dumpsters, pulling out what looks like still edible food and shoving it into a bag. Even if she didn't like eating the trash people threw away, she was reminded so much of when she was with her flock and they were having to eat rats and more disgusting things.]

[Reaction. And probable nagging when you get home XD]
Really?
This again?
You told him you weren't doing this anymore.
Goddamn it. Do we need to have words when you get home, little lady?
It doesn't help he's being maybe a little more overbearing since waking up, especially as a certain someone (well, Lucas as well, but that's more regret that he left with them on a bad note when Dean does actually like him) has disappeared as quickly as they all appeared in the first place.
He's keeping an eye on you.
Mary too, but he can't nag her quite so much. Or, you know, at all.]Re: [Reaction. And probable nagging when you get home XD]
She can hide it under her bed to nibble on easy enough.
...and then, she hits that creaky step.]
...Definite nagging when you get home. But did we expect anything else? XD
But then she hits that creaky stair, and he's up off the couch like a shot, growling under his breath at first, but managing to quiet it by the time he gets over to where she is.
And yeah, he's pissed. Not about the food. Okay, kinda about the food. But more because-]
What the hell kinda time do you call this? [That rule. The one about calling. the one that he sometimes lets you off with when you forget. you're not getting away with that today. Especially not since a bunch of them disappeared during the Big Sleep and he's worrying himself over that happening (also a byproduct of his little bestie that isn't in this house disappearing) to you and anyone else he cares about here.] Did you lose your fingers? Or the ability to work your phone? Or the phone itself? [And the tone in his voice says he knows the answer to all of those is a big fat no.] Maybe you dropped it in the garbage while you were rooting through it. I'd try looking there.
Not really, no :3
Turning to look back at him, her eyes are wide. Holy hotcakes, she's never seen him this mad before...not at her anyway.]
...huh...
[She was very articulate there, but she was speechless. He's never been this pissed at her before and she wasn't sure how to handle it...though, it may involve crying and fleeing for a bit.]

I don't ask for a lot from you. I don't. [And he can't even say 'it might seem like it', because... he doesn't. She's not his kid, she's not even close (meant by that: the son of the woman he's dating, or something similar), and he's not going to enforce a crap ton of rules on her because of that (although, admittedly, most of Ben's rules were his mom's in the first place... okay, he needs to stop thinking about that. It's not helping).] But one of the main things I asked you is that if you're going to be out late, to call me. The only reason I wasn't out there already is because I know you can do a somewhat decent job of looking after yourself. [You had
until he woke upabout an hour before he was abandoning that and going anyway. At the most.]no subject
[That had to be damn near ripped from her. She wasn't used to having to apologize for things like this...much less willingly.]
I just...got excited and lost track of time is all.
[Even with how good Dean took care of her, she still had a worry of 'what if he leaves' she didn't want to lose her skills at finding the food she needs and as much. Seeing all that thrown away was just too tempting.]

It's dangerous out there, did you forget that? And that's before you count the fact we live in a goddamned place that's situated in the middle of monster central with things you had probably only heard of in stories. You could get hurt. [you could disappear.]

[Okay, she was getting pissed. He usually let it go by now and she wasn't really used to this.
Clenching her hands at her side, she was almost shaking in agitation.]
You took me to fight Jackie, I not doing anything near that dangerous!
no subject
If I'd known it was gonna be an excuse for you to do the damned hell you like without thinking, I wouldn't have got you involved.
no subject
[As long as they weren't like Jackie, but she wasn't really thinking at the moment. She was more just running on anger.]
no subject
And if they freak you out enough that you won't even go near them unless you've got me?
[Yeah, he went there. He's going to regret this so hard later.]
no subject
Don't worry, next time I just won't tell you! Then you don't have to worry about me anymore!
[Turning, she runs up the stairs and slams the door to her room. If Dean follows, he'll find she didn't lock the door, but she needed to get away before he saw how much that comment had hurt.]

That sound behind her is him gently thumping his head against a wall. Stupid, stupid, stupid. He takes a moment to just rest his head there, giving himself a moment or fifty to calm down. And now it's later, and guilt and regret is hitting him like a tonne-truck. What the hell is wrong with him?
God fucking damn it.
He's not even going to try and intrude on her immediately, just go to her door and slide down it so he's sat with his back against it, knees bent and forearms resting atop his knees.]
...I didn't mean it like that. [Apology offered.]
no subject
Flinching a little when she heard his voice, it was a long moment before she responded.]
...Then why'd you say it?
[It hurt to have things like that flung at her, more so when it was coming from Dean.]
no subject
[....But it's no joking matter, so he then answers honestly:]
I... I don't know. I suck at saying the things I should be saying; you might have noticed that by now. [All the self-depreciation]
no subject
...I really try, you know.
It's just...If you leave, I'll be all alone again. I don't want that.
[And she's a little worried she'll forget all of her survival skills if he does.]
no subject
I know you do. And I know, believe me. [Like he wouldn't ever choose to go and leave her alone, but apparently that's now also a thing that they have to worry about not having a choice in-
He shakes his head out of that though process before he can get himself all knotted up in his head again in it.] I worry, that's all.
no subject
'M sorry...
[She couldn't help her emotions. She'd thought she'd been doing so good...and then she came home and got in trouble. It wasn't something she was really used to.]
no subject
Me too, kiddo.
[Just Walking By]
