[The video opens to Jaune trying to fix the camera, before finally settling his device and the picture down. Wearing his jeans and hoodie, he's sitting crosslegged on his bed which he takes a lot of pride in. Oh, and there's a hole in his wall that looks like something around seven or so feet was violently knocked through it but pay no attention to that.

Jaune takes a sip from what looks like an energy drink before he starts talking. He sounds a bit stilted and awkward, as if he didn't plan any of this.]

In case you don't know me, I'm Jaune Arc. I work for the Nova City Branch of Schnee Company, led by Weiss Schnee her snowiness herself. But today, I'm here to promote a very important non-profit side company called Genessia Scientific Research Foundation, or GSRF for short. If you went to the party, which you should have. [He points at the camera, then takes a sip of his drink which is precariously balanced on his comforter.] Then you probably know a little about it. But if you didn't, then stop watching this video and go to GSRF. Right now. I'm serious, stop watching. We have a lot of great things we offer but we can't do this for free. By donating, you get to attend the best parties. There's lots of neat sh-- things going on there. We have some of the most dedicated scientists working there, and they're really smart and stuff. At least I think they are. Don't you have to go to school for a long time to play with needles and other instruments? So yeah, if you're interested in science, or want to find out more about this place and donate your time, we could always use more interested people.

What else can I say about it-- Uhhh. Oh yeah, I got this useful pamphlet! [He picks up a GSRF informative pamphlet which he never bothered to read, carelessly showing it off and holding it like it's more than a piece of paper.] You can get one of these for free and you could read it to learn more. You could read it with your friends...you could even frame it and have a poster. Or write your grocery list on it. It's incredibly versatile! GSRF pamphlets, offered for free at GSRF. But we offer lots of cooler stuff for people who donate. Like a free tote! Weiss do we get free totes? [He looks over his shoulder.] Oh. She's not around. Anyway, you have the word of Jaune Arc you'll get this super cool free tote that you can use for...anything if you donate 50 redbills to the GSRF Foundation. You could put your drinks in it, or your car keys...you could even just carry it around. Just in case you find a stray cat and want to take it home.

Don't be mean to stray cats.

Go check it out yourselves because like science people always say, learning's an opportunity. This carefully thought out advertisement promoting GSRF was not funded by any company and done voluntarily by myself without being assigned or rewarded for doing it.

[He stares at her a little incredulously, amusement shining through.]

What? Seriously? You were going to go along the lines of, "It's just a prank, bro"? [He giggles into his hand.] I'm sure I'll like it either way. I'd be happy with anything from Weiss Schnee.

Constantly. Despite being the poster child for welcoming I actually hate it when it comes to people from our world. [ It's one thing when you're welcoming strangers. It's another thing when you're giving the same spiel for the fifth time to your partner who doesn't remember you, again, and is probably going to forget in another month or two so what's even the point? And then not feeling anything when they want you to as you tell them that their dead friends might show up for a tear-filled reunion, because it's not the first or even the second time you've seen it happen. ]

I would never phrase it like that. I was going to give you a fake gift and then give you your real one. [ She takes out a Pokeball from her little hip pouch, expands it, then holds it out to him. ] This is for you. It's a Magikarp, which.. will take more work than most Pokemon, but I think you'll understand this a lot more later. It's a boy, jolly nature, and it's level 8.

If we find a way to let people choose, maybe you won't have to do it more than once anymore. [He's just frustrated at how slow the answers have been. This world has to have some rules for how it brings people here and sends them away, but knowing that doesn't help if they have no control over it, leaving them as helpless as if it were their destiny.]

What was the fake gift? [Nevermind, he's staring at the Pokeball, completely silent. His eyes flicker to hers in awe, and he starts reaching for it, retracting is hand as if it was burned. He's embarrassed by how muted his voice is, but this is honestly the coolest gift ever.] Y-- You're giving me a Pokemon? One of your Pokemon?

Maybe one day. [ She wishes they could be faster too, but she knows. Progress takes time. Fortunately, growing up as an heiress means she understands how R&D works. ]

It's a stegosaurus made out of a potato and carefully sliced carrots and broccoli. [ She spent a while on it. ] That one's actually yours. I talked to Mewtwo and we figured out which one would be best, and I caught it specifically for you. Which was surprisingly difficult considering I wanted to find one low enough a level that you could do the training and mine are all decidedly not low anymore.

Yeah. Maybe.

...Wait so this whole time, you've been able to make dinosaur shaped food. And you never told me? [What have they said about secrets? He looks so betrayed. But he's over it after a moment. He's too focused on how she went out and found the right Pokemon for him. She even caught it herself. He gingerly takes the Pokeball from her, smiling at her warmly.]

Thank you. You know how much I like Pokemon. [He studies the ball, gasping and straightening to look at her.] Does this mean we get to train together?!

Jaune, you literally just slice carrots and stick the ends in a potato. [ EVEN SHE CAN DO THIS IT REQUIRES ZERO ARTISTIC ABILITY. THE BROCOLLI IS PLANT LIFE FOR THE SCENERY. ]

We're.. probably going to have to. I'm not actually sure how to attack with your Pokemon, we might need to do team battles, so you may have to borrow one of mine too.

...Seriously, that's it? You made it sound like something incredibly complex. So I could have had dinosaur veggies all along. I really missed out.

What do you mean? Is it purely defensive, like some kind of armored rock?

I'll make it for you anyway sometime.

[ She'll happily encourage him to eat vegetables. Because he is 5. ]

Like I said, it's going to take a lot of work.

Really?!

[He gets stars in his eyes for a brief moment.]

If there's anything I've learned by training with you, it's that hard work is worth it. So...let's meet him now.

[He takes a deep breath in anticipation, he releases Magikarp. There's that familiar flash of light and...

And Jaune is scrambling over to pick him up, panicking.]

Weiss, is he okay?! Where's water Ineedwater does his Pokeball have water?!

He's fine. That's just.. how he is.

[ She has faith in you, Magikarp and Jaune. ]

But he's-- he's flopsing.

[But Weiss doesn't seem worried, so maybe he shouldn't be. And the Magikarp seems to be wiggling as if he's happy, so he starts to calm down.]

Uhm. Hi. I'm Jaune, and I'm going to train you from now on. So let's be friends and stuff.

Better flopsing than flailing.

[ She's just going to watch Jaune and Magikarp meet now.. ] I think he likes you.

Aren't they pretty similar?

[Magikarp sort of tries to jump out of Jaune's arms. Meanwhile, Jaune looks at him warmly.] I'm gonna call you Neptune.

A "flail" is an attack they try to do after they run out of energy for their natural ones. They usually hurt themselves trying.

[ she tries not to snicker at that ]

Careful, this one can at least swim.

...Is there a double meaning here I'm not picking up on?

But can he walk? It evens out. What do you think, Neptune? [Magikarp seems to wiggle as if he likes the name.]

I'm just making sure you know the terminology. You're a Pokemon trainer note, after all.

[ she's glad that jaune likes him so much even if he's not super powerful or capable. He'll see later why she picked him specifically. ]

No, I meant-- Whoa. I'm a Pokemon trainer. It needs a team name...

[he does like him. neptune seems nice. he's a bit confused, but he trusts weiss. she must have picked him for a reason.]

Merry Christmas, Weiss. [what a strange phrase.] Do you think if I used my Dust he'd like that? Maybe if I put some in his Pokeball...

Aqueduct! [ SHE'S TRYING. ]

Don't put anything in his Pokeball, Jaune. He's got everything he needs in there. He's a water-type though, so I'm sure he appreciates being in it. I caught him in a lake.

No. [Please. Don't.]

Hm...what if I put his Pokeball in a bathtub?!

What? It's got arcs and fish swim through them! [ She's clever damnit! ]

Jaune. I mean it, if I find your Pokeball in the bathtub, I will take it away from you. Just treat it like normal. Pokeballs are self-sustaining, just make sure you feed him regularly and you take him out to train and move. If he has another hobby you find he likes while he's out, let him do that.

Since when!? [those aqueducts sound so fancy to him.]

Does water damage it somehow? I think I can handle that. It's like taking care of a magical pet.

Since ancient times! [ She gets out her device to look up some pictures for him. ]

No, but if you're wasting our bath space and increasing our water bill for something unnecessary, I'm not going to be happy. Particularly since they're just fine in their Pokeballs.

Then how come I've never heard about it until just now?

I can't believe you would imply that Neptune's happiness is unnecessary! Neptune, use flop! [He puts Neptune on the ground, gently, but he just sort of bounces there.]

Uhm...please?

Because you don't read.

[ Duh. ]

Flop isn't an attack move, Jaune. Neptune knows Splash, and that's it.
