1st Update - Voice

I find myself in a precarious situation. I've read the literature provided, but I can't connect to GALAX, so this network will have to do.

[There's a little sigh.]

You may call me LOAD.

I find myself surrounded by water, although it isn't very deep. I'll admit, I'm a bit at a loss of what to do here. If I could get online, certainly I could figure things out from there so if someone could offer directions to a computer, that would be most helpful.

[Satsuki smirks a little; consider her curiosity piqued even further. Though she also feels the need to clarify.]

Look after you? I'm not quite that generous. But I am willing to guide those I find worthy of my cause. In short, you could play a vital part in everyone one day returning home.

[Though her methods may go against Rui's philosophy.]

Independent? No family?

I have goals to achieve at home so that would suit me perfectly.

[Rui arched his eyebrow at the question.]

Not really. I live on my own. Fortunately my invention in GALAX keeps me rather comfortable.

As do I. A good number of us, perhaps, share the same issues.

[It's going to be quite a walk, but thankfully there is transportation to cut down time.]

You mentioned earlier that you could be referred to as 'LOAD'. Would you mind explaining that.

It's possible, hard to say though if we're not from the same Japan. How strange that is to say, but here I stand in some other world from my own so it must be possible.

[He exhales softly, thinking about it for a moment. He doesn't mind a long walk, despite how it might look uncomfortable in his heels.]

It's my handle. I go by LOAD online and since I do most of my work there, that's how people know me. The people I do communicate with also called me LOAD. It's probably easier.

I mean in the sense that we have urgent matters to attend at home. However there are also many that have become content with settling in Genessia for one reason or another.

Like a code name. I suppose it is the choice of word that truly puzzles me. Why not something like 'Creator'? or 'Headmaster'?

I can't imagine myself doing that.

[He seems to be thinking how best to explain it.]

I don't think there should be heroes. The way things are now, when someone gets power everything goes terribly. I'm often on the network myself and going by a title like that ordinary people might know who I am otherwise. I don't want people to think I'm better than they are, because I'm not. The thing about GALAX is that through the connectivity of social media most problems can be solved without anyone of authority. People by nature are goodhearted for the most part. It's a wonderful system.

[Satsuki frowns a little- She's almost envious of Rui's words, but it's more the disbelief that social media holds that kind of potential. It just.. Doesn't seem like reality.

Perhaps she'd understand better if she saw how the program worked with her own eyes.]

It is a shame I cannot see what your world is like.. It sounds like something very worth seeing. Perhaps it shall meet similar success in Nova City.

[It is a very complex system and he was continuously working on it, although X does most of he maintenance.]

It has really taken off as of late. Not quite everyone is using it, but the numbers are growing daily. The world is...

[He frowns a little.]

Corporations try to sneak things by consumers and politicians are corrupt. It's not that great on its own. I just think it can be done better.

[Idealistic? Maybe. Ever since he'd gotten his NOTE he's been on a mission and that was four years ago.]

Is that so.. An interesting goal, all the same.

And so your GALAX is the means of improving said corrupt systems.

[It isn't long before the city becomes increasingly busy around them once they walk far enough.]

(OOC: I'm going to timeskip ahead to the library after this if that's ok.)

I believe it is. For the people who use it at least, it's been a means to save lives that otherwise wouldn't have been saved.

[He glances away. He knows his motivations aren't entirely pure.]

(OOC: No problems here!)

I see. We'll discuss this further at a later time, then. The library is just a bit further ahead.

[Satsuki hardly knows Rui enough to go so far as to ask about an alterior motive; 'she' could be a hopeless romantic or some such after all. Perhaps time will tell.

The library is an enormous warehouse-like building with four levels, containing multiple books of a variety of subjects. Literature spans from hundreds of different worlds. Upon entering Satsuki heads straight over to the computers; and while they don't appear to be particularly powerful, Rui may be able to perform something unusual on it.]

Here we are. Can you do anything with this kind of hardware?

[Rui smooths down the back of his dress and sits, crossing his legs. He starts checking out the computer. Is there internet? That was the first question.]

It's not really the hardware that would be a problem. I mean this computer is certainly old and it's not going to process what I'd need it to quickly, but it is possible to build a better computer than this if I can get the parts somewhere. It depends on what you want me to do with it.

[There does appear to be internet. However it's solely on the library's website and access to anything outside of it is blocked- likely a measure to keep people from sitting and browsing the internet all day. At asks for a user name before going to it's main page.

Satsuki is no expert on computers; and isn't entirely certain what is the boundery of complex and absurd requests.]

I see. Well from what I gather you specialize in programming- And perhaps collecting data. Could you trace when I first logged in if I tell you the username?

If you mean hacking, yes. I taught myself. GALAX is extremely secure. I test it frequently.

[He nods a little bit.]

So do you want the system, or this particular machine?

Mmn.

[Curiouser and curiouser. She then confirms,]

This particular machine would be fine.

[Naturally she remember the date of March 5th quite clearly. She then searched for books on the founding history of Genessia.]

[It's an old machine which makes it somewhat more challenging, but Rui does enjoy a good challenge. The encryption on the system is about medium security to him at least and it's about five minutes before he's pulling up usernames from a database.

He's mildly annoyed by that, on a better machine he could have been faster. He finds the name she supplies to him and highlights it with the cursor.]

March 5th was the first time you logged onto this machine.

[His fingers moved across the keys a few more times before the mass of information vanishes from the screen. He doesn't want to get caught, after all.]

[Satsuki can't really follow what Rui's doing, and can't follow how complex things are. However this is just a test of results, and Rui has provided.

A very feint smile forms followed by an amused grunt.]

Very well. Consider yourself hired.

I will provide funding and materials for you to rebuild your GALAX program, but I wish to test with a closed beta before we attempt mass release.

Considering you have just arrived, I feel it is fair I give you a week before we negotiate terms. Is this acceptable?

That's fine with me. If a way home should present itself however...

[He trails off. Things to do, that's all.]

[She's quiet for a moment. Did Rui ask? Perhaps not, but since they'll be working close, she'll say anyway.]

That goes without saying, of course. Though my theory, at the moment, is that should one of us leave, we all leave. This project with is the next stage toward opening that path.

[And with that she offers her hand.]
