[ while he's made himself pretty scarce over the weeks, Akito kept busy with training and taking care of the egg he arrived carrying in his arms... which is now most certainly no longer an egg but a happy, healthy Eevee nestled against his chest. ]

My egg finally hatched the first morning of the new year - the same day my big brother was born! I'm not going to make it share a name with my Oniichan though, so...

[ he holds the Eevee up to give everyone a good view of his cute precious fluffball #2 ]

[Hasn't seen an Eevee before, and it's not like Pokemon have a consistent look...]

This is Rouge. He's a Pokémon species called Eevee.

[ he hopes that's enough for Rou to stop being called a 'that'. with his upbringing he doesn't like his companions being dehumanized in any way... even if they... aren't human... shh. ]

"Oh. OH! Well, double congratulations, then! Aren't pokemon lovely?" [Big poke-fan here, if his melting heart doesn't make it obvious.]

"Now I remember; a friend of mine has a Sylveon. They're related, aren't they? I wonder what it'll grow into. And you were carrying that with you from the start, right? How'd you get such a thing?"

[Mostly he's glad that it's probably not a fake Pokemon, like some other abominations he knew.]

I've never heard of a Sylveon before, but the naming convention seems to fit with the Eevee evolutionary line. [ he's really only familiar with the first five. he never had the opportunity to try the other generations. ] If Rou-chan wants to evolve someday I'll find a way for him to. He'll probably want to be a Flareon so he can have fire like me and his big brother.

Rou-chan's egg was a gift to me. An apology.

"Huh, you have fire? How so? Or is that something you'd rather not speak of?" [He sounds interested, but gets the sense that being sparse on details probably means he's said all he cares to]

[ a careful, seemingly-casual shrug. he would rather not advertise his mera mera abilities, but Akito has always been one to favour similes, metaphors, and proverbs so it isn't difficult to come up with a true enough alternative answer. ]

Doesn't everyone have fire? Flint and steel, lighters, matches. Rou-chan doesn't have thumbs, so he's at a disadvantage there. He also isn't a fire-type, like my Vulpix. Then there are some with fiery determination... But that's something Rouge can grow into, I think.

[ he's grown used to seeing them around - there was an entire castle rooftop dedicated to caring for Pokémon in the last world he was in, and he's had a Vulpix for close to a year now. if anything it's more disconcerting not to see the creatures running around en masse! ]

He is fluffy! His fur is like silk, and his brother's is like velvet. Both are so soft!

Like silk and velvet. I think I can believe you when you say that, though I've never really had a pokemon that waqsn't in a video game or something.

[She hadn't been here when the last lot of pokemon were here, but she had seen them around.]

I have seen a few pokemon around, so at least they won't be lonely, right? I mean besides just being around one another.

[ Hey, she's curious. Weiss loves her own Pokemon and she'd love more but she doesn't want to bother Mewtwo's area without permission. She's sure he wouldn't appreciate loads of trainers piling in there all the time either. ]

I have a Charizard, a Glaceon, an Amaura, a Froslass, an Arcanine, a Lapras, a Castform, and a Smoochum. Castform and Smoochum stay around the house, so they're not in these balls.
